just ordered my first 'gaming pc' since... 2010-2011 :D - (I still have my old tower stored away in a wardrobe, think it was amd phenom and hd 6850 graphics card lol) I bought a cheap gaming laptop last year that has a i5 and gtx 1650, just to 'dip my toes' back in.. A 2080 super and a 5800x 3d is probably even more than what most people need. You certainly don’t need to be on a DDR5 platform to get excellent 2k performance.
You don't but if you buy into am4 on a new build, you will not be able to upgrade at all. You'll have to buy all new. I am already on AM4 and can't decide between going 5800x3d or upgrading to am5
As someone who is also on AM4 and deciding whether to upgrade to a 5800x3d or AM5 Id say the choice is more up to budget since you have to dump more into new cpu, mobo, and ram
@@walterwoods8978 If I´d build new I´d go for 7500f, buy better components instead and leave the upgrade open for CPU later, like 2+ years dependent on what cpu you got, like I got a 5600x, thinking about upgrading to 5700x3d but I guess it´s better to wait and go for upgrading to another platform instead or investing in a higher tier GPU
I'm about to build my first ever gaming pc with this combo: CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x GPU: Radeon Rx 7700xt I'm hoping it serves me well. I hope anyone who's had this GPU or even CPU could give me some feedback, whether you've had it or just heard of things, good and bad.
Question: I currently have a Ryzen 7900X with a 4080 super, and have been preferring to run on a 1440 monitor for higher fps. I'm looking to either get an OLED or something with HDR. Everything that is good in 1440 is too small for what I want. Am I going to lose out on performance if I get a 4k monitor or do I have enough horsepower to make it happen? I'm not afraid to use scaling.
Built my new PC at the start of the year with an i5 12600k and an AMD 7800xt. Been an awesome combo for me. 7800xt is probably the best bang for buck rn

I'm in the position now where my CPU is very old, Intel i7-8700k, but I upgraded my GPU a while back to a GeForce RTX 3080 10GB and committed to a 4k screen because I also have a PS5 connected. Any recommendations on a CPU upgrade? I will be replacing the Motherboard and RAM at the same time. Is the 7800X3D a good pairing, or over kill for the previous gen card? I mainly play graphics intensive games, Cyberpunk 2077 for example, and will be putting a lot of time into Dragon Age: The Veilguard when it comes out. Having said that, I also play World of Warcraft, and it's killing my CPU. 😅
I have been watching You for awhile now and I ended up buying the 7800x3D with a 309 speedster, and i had to upgrade to a 4070ti (that's before the supers) an loved it. I recently built another PC with a 7800x3D but I put the 4070ti in there and bought myself a 4080 Super for my build and absolutely love my set up

Thanks much for the vid. I got a 65" 4k screen, so was looking for the best to make the most out of it. So the 4090 recommendation was clear. But then the cpu to go along part, right next to it, it's when it became confusing. I'll take for granted that we no longer need to pair amd with their gpu boards, and intel with nvidia, that's great, so should I suppose that the AMD7800x3d would be the best choice? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the vid, may you all have a great day!
I want to run Star Citizen on Ultra graphics on a 34" non 4k ultrawide with ray tracing. And when Arma 4 comes out in 2 years, I want the same ultra graphics. 100 frames is the limit of my monitor. What do you recommend?
please please answer this question! Would R7 7800x3d bottleneck my 3080 TI ? or are they compatible? Running 1080p at 360hz ( mainly playing wow & CS2 ) & Which motherboard pairs well with the 7800x3d?
I built my pc a couple of years ago so take it with a grain of salt because other parts have come out etc. I went with the Ryzen 7 5700x and the gigabyte vision 3060ti oc Neither are absolutely amazing parts but they pair really well together and can also handle a decent amount of over clocking. I play mostly open world RPG games that aren’t too load intensive games. I also saved a pretty penny going for a 3060ti over a 3080 or 3090. I use my pc for writing and playing games, so I chose my GPU and CPU for my specific needs.
I want to upgrade my pc, i mostly play CS2 and streaming, should i stick to AM4 with a R9 or to move to an AM5? I need the PC to last me for another few years…

What about a combination of Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RTX 4070 SUPER? You've mentioned this combo in another video, but here with 7 7800X3D you suggest the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER. So which combination is better balanced? Thank you!
Hello. I have the 240hz, 4k Neo G8 and believe I need to upgrade my 6750 xt to 7900 xt or 7900 xtx. Do you think AMD is matching these cards with the 8000 series? I've heard they have issues for being first generation.
My combo wasn't mentioned but I don't think it's bad at all. I have an EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming 10G (so it's one of the higher end 10G models produced) and a 5600X. I wanted to know if it's well balanced or if one component could use an upgrade to match the other. I was thinking the CPU could use an upgrade to match the card but I'm not positive on that. I'm also not sure if the 7800X3D is too much for the 3080 that I have, and if it's not then would the 7800X3D work on the same motherboard as the 5600X or would I need a different (more recent motherboard). I would really, really appreciate insight on this, and thanks in advance for any replies!
Do you recommend I wait for the next gen of GPUs? I currently have a 2070 super I bought this just before the 30 series came out, I'm buying a completely new pc cos I'm on 9th gen cpu
The thing is everybody suggests the 7800X3D because it still out performs the newer 7900’s versions because of the L3 Cache if you build a high end with a 4070 ti super to a 4090. The newer Ryzen’s have more cores but are built for more productivity and tasks rather than games.
Great content! I’m running with a 2060 super and a Ryzen 7 3700x from a build I did in 2019 The only game I play is COD Warzone. Is this an ok set up for 1080p?
Same exact set up here and from 2019 as well. It has been a 1080p journey but I'm recently looking to upgrade as I now have 1440p monitor. For warzone the X3D chips are best for highest fps so I would recommend the 5700X3D the value performance king 👑
I have the 7900xt with the 7900x, super smooth. However, most sites will point out the 7700x has a percent better gaming performance (and should save you money). However, the 7800x3d is 20% faster. And yes, literally 1% faster (if that, but it tests faster than both the 7900x and 7950x, for games. Those are engineering CPUs, I do engineering.)
10:57 Hey I noticed that you didn’t include the ARC A770 16G on this, what do you think of it? I’ve seen deals for about $240 brand new so I’m considering it for budget to mid level builds. Thank you!
Amazing video and I loved the explanation, I’m currently building a pc as my old one is outdated. I’m looking at the ryzen 9 7950x3d so when the new 50 series comes out I wouldn’t need to upgrade the cpu. ( and for years to come too) My question is should I buy the 4080 super for the time being to play games as I don’t have a gaming desktop or should I wait for the 50 series to come out ? Thank you
I have a question , I'm in process of updating my PC slowly, is it worth just upgrade CPU AND GPU or should I do motherboard as well since its about 5/6yo.. :) thx
Watching this video on my custom built PC (with the help of this channel and more), rocking a Ryzen 7 5800x3D and an RTX 4070! Much more balanced than my rog Z13 tablet / laptop, which has a 12900H and a 3050ti...
I'm looking at building a PC soon but the games I play are exclusively more CPU bound. Should I still look at balancing the CPU and GPU or should I skew it in favour of the CPU? I don't play any triple A games.

I'm very excited for the magical moment when I first turn it on.

The best gpu&cpu combo is ryzen 4070

Hello. I have the 240hz, 4k Neo G8 and believe I need to upgrade my 6750 xt to 7900 xt or 7900 xtx. Do you think AMD is matching these cards with the 8000 series? I've heard they have issues for being first generation.
Very informative as always. 🖖

The thing is everybody suggests the 7800X3D because it still out performs the newer 7900’s versions because of the L3 Cache if you build a high end with a 4070 ti super to a 4090. The newer Ryzen’s have more cores but are built for more productivity and tasks rather than games.

Same exact set up here and from 2019 as well. It has been a 1080p journey but I'm recently looking to upgrade as I now have 1440p monitor. For warzone the X3D chips are best for highest fps so I would recommend the 5700X3D the value performance king 👑
Doing a build using the 7900 XT can no longer get a 7800 x3d. So what would be preferably a smooth gaming/streaming experience a 7900 x or the 7950 x?
I have the 7900xt with the 7900x, super smooth.
However, most sites will point out the 7700x has a percent better gaming performance (and should save you money). However, the 7800x3d is 20% faster.
And yes, literally 1% faster (if that, but it tests faster than both the 7900x and 7950x, for games. Those are engineering CPUs, I do engineering.)
