- In this episode I talk more in depth about my vision loss and how I see on a day-to-day basis.
Our visual impairments can sometimes be very hard to describe at least for me it is. So I try as hard as I can so it makes the video a little bit long but if you watch to the end you can get a better understanding on my vision.

Hey Vinny, I cannot comment on the video quality of your camera, the audio sounds great but the content of this video is outstanding. I have worked with the blind and visually impaired, as you already know, for all of my professional life. I have never had anyone describe their vision this accurately.. I also have never had anyone describe their vision the way you see. I too have lots of sparkles and in the past have had starbursts all in my central vision but not colorful like yours. You just did an exceptional job in describing how you say, and maybe, this should be submitted to some ophthalmology course where doctors are learning about VIPs like us. Just an outstanding video in my opinion!
Thank you so much Beverly and the crazy thing about all of it is I could have kept going. But I did not want the video to be 30 minutes long. There was more I could have said about my vision. But I tried my best to explain it. Thank you so much for watching. And you always know what to say to make me feel good. I was actually nervous about uploading this video. It's hard to describe vision loss and you're always worried about what people might say. I am just waiting for that one person to say oh I know that that's very bad. Make me all nervous. LOL
I know Vinny, because your vision is similar somewhat to mine, you probably see differently in every different environment. You described very well, several environments and I noticed that all of them create a different way of saying. It is that way for me as well. Great job!

I am light sensitive!!!! And have the star burst in my right eye other than that. I don't have any useable vision left.It's been a little over a year sense I lost the rest of my sight.Your audio is excellent.Thanks foe allowing us to get to know you better.
Well thank you for the comment and the info on the audio. I am more than happy to allow you to get to know me and I have been having so much fun getting to know everybody else as well. I have enjoyed my channel very much and hope to get better at it as time goes on.
Just let me know if there is anything else you would like to know. I'd be more than happy to answer it for you. And I'm happy to know that somebody else gets the starburst other than me. I thought I was alone.
I have a question though, did you have peripheral vision before the rest of your usable site was gone?.
Hey Vincent, quality and audio are definitely better.
I understand the good days and bad days with eyes. If my pressure's are hi it looks like smoke in front of me.
My wife said she wants that clock. She use to have one almost like that until I broke it.
Every time I get my eyes tested my pressure has been good. However I've never been tested on a bad day or week. Literally I will have an entire week of eye problems sometimes. Maybe my eye pressure it's high on those times.
Also, you should know I bought that clock at a Sam's Club. It was only $20. Could not say no to that price. It's the first analog clock I've been able to read since my visual impairment. LOL I love that clock.
Great video in the sound quality is great. Congratulations on the new camera. I don't think I've ever heard a better description of how someone sees. I don't have the colors that you described but I do sometimes feel like I'm seeing like sparkles in front of me some feel like are starburst of silver or gray sparkles. I have had that since I was younger off and on. I like the description of the shower doors or that's what I was thinking of during your description that is similar to how I see but with no detail shapes are fuzzy. I cannot see faces or details. I do really good when I'm in my home or in a place than I have the visual memory of more than I'm very familiar with. I use my cane when I'm out and about coming in and out of my home I use my cane a lot more. I have more peripheral vision than I do central vision in my right eye I see peripherally but not central vision I also have absolutely no depth perception. And recently I'm coming to the realization that I don't identify colors the way I used to. that's just been very recent I don't see colors the way I used to. Thanks for sharing and when looking up at the night sky all I see is a black canvas above me there are times when I can see the moon if it's a full moon or a really bright but I don't see the stars in the night sky anymore and that I miss
Sounds to me like you and I have very similar vision. If you don't mind me asking what eye condition do you have?
Like you when I'm at home I feel completely comfortable especially when I know how things were before my vision loss. It's kind of like watching certain movies on TV if I have seen it before and watch it and think back I see it completely clear in my mind. However if it's new and I've never seen it it's fuzzy.
I also can see the moon when it is large enough. In fact sometimes I can even see planes. Matters if it's a good I day or not. But I really miss seeing the Stars.
Also, I too just like you have been having color vision issues. I cannot. Tell the difference between certain colors. Like blue and green, purple and blue Etc. Thank you for the comment.
@@myvisuallyimpairedlife5674 I don't mind you asking what condition I have. There's a genetic condition that there's not a definitive diagnosis for. I know that it involves the macula I know it's not macular degeneration exactly. I also know that the aeye muscles themselves are affected and they are very weak. I also know that I do not have any depth perception due to the fact that I don't see in 3d per se never did I don't see through both eyes simultaneously never did. But as far as an actual diagnosis they haven't come up with one yet I guess I'm a little different. Thanks for asking.
@@zarapelfree2553 well you and I are in the same boat. Because they do not have a diagnosis for me either. Don't think I'll ever get one I'm at the point where I don't care anymore. Just want to move on and not spend any more money.
@@myvisuallyimpairedlife5674 I know the feeling. one of my biggest goals is to be able to move forward and to be as self-sufficient as possible to learn new and creative ways to do things independently as much as I can. outside of an actual name to put on why I have vision loss that's becoming less important as time goes by. I truly just want to be able to move forward and be as independent as I possibly can. I may miss seeing the stars at night I may desperately miss the independence of driving that I once had but I do get the privilege to be more creative to get things done on a daily basis.
@@zarapelfree2553 I agree well spoken. I think of it this way. If I had been born with an eye condition I would have figured it out from the get-go and that just would have been how life is. So why should I worry now. Our eye conditions are only sad and mopey if we allow them to be that way. I like to think out-of-the-box and adapt to my situations. And like you find new Solutions to Everyday problems. Thanks for the awesome comment.
Great video Vincent. The sound quality sounds fine. It's about the same as your phone i think. Video quality I don't know. LOL
I think I'm going to return this camera. The sound quality sounds okay however there's a loud hiss in the background. Yeah or a hum a lot of background noise. I was home all by myself should not have been so loud in the background.
Also, as you heard towards the end of the video it said cannot locate. Does that a lot. I control the camera by my phone but if it's going to keep cutting out all the time it's not worth it to me. Not for the price I paid. Even if it was a good deal. Makes me feel bad for the people pay full price.
Just want to say though what is cool about the camera is that after I film a video I can wirelessly transfer it to my phone for easy upload to TH-cam.
@@myvisuallyimpairedlife5674 knowing how technology is now though, I'm sure that a lot of cameras will have similar features so hopefully you can find one that has an auxiliary port because I think that might be better! I don't think a lot of people really use the built-in microphone for any camera.
@@LiveAccessible I agree with you completely. I think I'm going to try to stick with Canon but see what the version up from this one has four options. I need to have that auxiliary port.
My wife said that the video quality look just fine. Also I love how the app works the camera. Hopefully the version up doesn't cut out like this one does. Thanks for the reply.
As I only have my central vision in my one working eye, your camera records just fine, and your video has good sound quality.
I can relate to the night blindness, as my primary eye disease is diabetic retinopathy, which gave rise to complete retinal detachment in my left, and partially in my right. In my right eye, I see bursts of light green light, especially when I’m tired or used my residual vision too much.
In the daytime, then sun is my worst enemy, especially on sunny days. I have to wear extremely dark sunglasses, or walk down the street sounding like Gollum from Lord of The Rings screaming, “It burns us!” 🤣🤣
I also have three cataracts, two in my dead eye which I loving call The Lazy Bastard, and one in my working eye, which throws a haze over my narrow field of vision. But wait, there’s more!
I also have glaucoma in my working eye too.
My love has RP, has had vision problems all his life, and since we’ve been together, I’m pretty certain it’s gotten worse. I do know he has no peripheral vision in both eyes.
Damn, I feel like I wrote a dissertation! 🤣🤣

It seems to me you have what I learned from peer support is called the trifecta. I know a few people with the same ordeal as you.
I love that you are so open and happy. You seem to have the same outlook on life as me. It's there, it's in your face, you can't change it so why mope over it. Great comment keep them coming.
Vincent Grasso My Visually Impaired Life Anytime! I’ve been blind for 10 years now. I think about what my grandma would say, “I laugh to keep from crying.” Especially when me and a support pole had an unexpected death match in Fred Meyer. The only injury on that was my pride. 🤣🤣 My love didn’t make it any better by chiding me that I should have paid more attention to my cane (as if he’s one to talk) which he was right (I admit this begrudgingly)
I love videos from blind TH-camrs about when something embarrassing happens to them. At least then I know I’m not the only one! 🤣🤣

I feel like I can sooo relate to your reaction to the motion sensor light in your driveway experience, but it may be quite different. When Darrell and I went into the craft store Michaels when they had all their Christmas items in the store, , there was this section of their tinsel garlands that had red and dark green tinsel. I didn't want to stop looking away from that section because for the only time in years, it felt like I had normal vision. Even when I had enough functional vision to work, I never felt like I had 'normal' vision the way I did looking at that combination of red and green dark tinsels.
It's always a good feeling to feel normal. But I have to say I've gotten so used to my vision the way it is that I feel normal now. Hopefully it never changes again. I am done with adapting.

First off, let me say I love that clock.
Video wise, it looks great, however I would consider maybe getting a microphone for that camera. You sound a little echoey, and you can also hear the AC blowing in the background. Other than that, it sounds great.
I completely agree with you. I had no AC running. I have no clue where that background noise was coming from. As I was home all alone and by myself Windows all closed no fans running.
The camera has no auxiliary port so tomorrow I am going to return it and try for one that does. What I did look like about the camera is it is a Canon so I cannot see any of the buttons or even the LED scream on the camera. However it has an application that is in my phone that allows me to control it from my phone and see it on my 6in screen. Plus it works with Talkback. To an extent. Very simple to use even with limited vision. So I'm going to see if I can just find the upgrade to this camera. If not I will just go back to my cell phone.
Vincent Grasso My Visually Impaired Life I currently use my cell phone, but I would like a more professional camera. If you can, can you tell me what sort of camera you do you get that you can control with your phone? When you upgrade that is.
@@theamazingblindmagician6743 Canon company makes cameras that work through a phone app on Android or iOS. So I am going to try to upgrade through the same company. The only problem with this camera is that there is no auxiliary port for a shotgun mic. So I'm just going to look for the model that has the auxiliary port included. The camera was awesome except for sound. I will keep you posted on what I get. But if the price is too much I will just stick with my phone as well.

Hi Vincent you experience the same what happens to me in my right eye I see red and rainbows then sometimes its black I have light sensitivity need dark glasses I was told I have ocular Histroplasmoses.In my left eye I was told its Md my central vision has gone just have little peripheral.
It's crazy how the eyes can do so many different things. The rainbows however I'm not a fan of but they have been fading away slowly each and every day. Well, they don't fade away I just don't notice them as much anymore.
