    I'm really enjoying these Sunday Sabbath talks. Great insights and very informative. One mystery that has really intrigued me these past several years is the alleged demos of Ozzy supposedly singing early versions of "Children Of The Sea" and "Die Young" when Sabbath was attempting to create a follow-up album to Never Say Die in early 1979. As we all know, the band was really struggling at this point and it culminated in Ozzy being fired. Do you know anything about these demos? If they do exist, do you think there is any chance Iommi would even make them commercially available for those of us who are hardcore fans? Perhaps bonus tracks for a potential future Never Say Die box set? Thanks!

    Great to hear other people are hanging out for the next box set too. As you say I think we would have to hear pretty soon if there was one in time for Christmas. Darin totally agree with you about Ozzy voice, I find it very intoxicating. There’s a sarcasm about it that really resonates with me. Bill Ward mentioned that with how he sounds on Johnny Blade. I’ve been listening to the song ‘Back on Earth’ and that’s another great example. I’ll listen to anything that has Ozzys voice.

    It all comes down to Iommi's riffs, the guitar tone, the song structures and the subject matter. No other band had all that until Priest released Sad Wings.

    Wow guys,really cool to have my questions answered and in such an intelligent manner. My main beef with Ozzy is not his unique voice or charisma,which he has in spades,but creatively he doesn't bring enough to the table,plus all those shady dealings with Sharon. Now,you two made me change my mind about Ozzy in your descriptions of how he actually did contribute with melodies and occasional lyrical ideas(I just wish,as a singer he should write all the lyrics,or at least a full song.)that I concede he should be on the credits. One thing though....the album credits for Bark at the moon,all music and lyrics by Ozzy Osbourne...no way,man!That's just ridiculous and unforgivable. But that's a whole other topic. Nice job,guys,keep up the good work. Take care.

    What makes Sabbath such a special band? That's easy! You are correct Mr Alchemist, the Songs! I might also add, the Gigs! I saw them on 3 tours in the 70's, and once with RJD!
    Hard to beat a Sabbath gig!
    They were the Real deal 🤘🔥

      @@LairoftheAlchemist lol, ya, but I'm an old guy and you're not, so I'm jealous.
      Here's another one. I saw Purple in 74 with a warmup band I'd never heard of...Elf! Then in 75 I saw Rainbow for the 1st time! People are starting to get the
      Ronnie vibe now! Saw him with Sabbath for the Mob tour, and then once with Vivian on Holy Diver!! RIP Dio.
      As long as I'm being an Old Guy I'll throw this at ya.
      Saw Heep with Byron, and Randy on the Diary tour! Oh, the 1st time I saw Priest was Stained Class opening for Mahogany Rush! Les on drums!!!
      Anyways, Mr Alchemist, I dig your channel and passion sir.
      Keep it going! 🤘🤙

    By the way, I did notice that the artists pick on Spotify for Sabbath was SBS. Could this be in preparation for something?😀. Or might just be because of the release of the Splatter vinyl version and not the box set☹️

    • @darinmccloskey9906
      @darinmccloskey9906 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, It could be the single album splatter vinyl reissue, that's a very good guess. I'm thinking if there was another boxset in the pipeline for Christmas we'd be hearing about it by now.
      BUT...maybe they're waiting to spring it on us for "Black Friday"? Anything is possible in the unpredictable world of Black Sabbath.

  • @thedarkwizardroom

    Yea I got to see Sabbath with RJD in 80 and then with Ray Gillan in 86 then with Ozzy Bill Tony Geezer the reunion in 99. Another person to be jealous with here. The songs crank with heavy, Deep Purple Zeppelin Priest the bands Uriah Heep yea there too with some songs. UFO Thin Lizzy some suppose too. Other Sabbath talk questions answered good discussion episodes John.

    I doubt they will do super deluxe for the other ozzy albums except never say die, there probably is not enough material, all that stuff used on the deluxe 2cd editions. So they are actually in order, starting with paranoid, then vol4, then sabotage, then technical ecstasy.

    • @LairoftheAlchemist
      @LairoftheAlchemist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're probably right...I'm holding out hope that they might release some of those early Earth demos though for a first album box..probably won't happen but we can dream.

    • @darinmccloskey9906
      @darinmccloskey9906 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure about SBS but there were a lot of outtakes for MoR and also the S/T. There are also numerous live shows from those eras which have been circulating for years. The thing is, most of the outtakes, if not all, have already been released on the Rhino dbl lp reissues a few years back which are still in print....to my knowledge anyway.

    • @jayedwards1205
      @jayedwards1205 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cringe at almost everything Dio did with Sabbath ..Dio was a hard rock guy who specialized in absolutely meaningless lyrics ...some of the music was very good but the dungeons and dragons stuff was bad

  • @chrisflood9205

    Do you think sabbath was cheap always using a keyboard player but never making one a full time member.also for all the bands who tried to be sabbath no one came close to imitating geezer or bill wards playing you could imitate tony but not have the songwriting skill .

  • @jmagowan12
    @jmagowan12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I personally think Ozzy is overrated, of course their legacy can't be denied or their 70's, 80's and beyond output. But Ozzy is lorded as his great musician in general and he isn't. He can sing great, not so much these days and isn't great at much else and that coupled with him & his wife's dodgy dealings since, not least conning the other members of the original solo band.

    • @neuroisis85
      @neuroisis85 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. I'll go further and say that I don't like his solo stuff outside of few songs.
