To me, I just want Iommi to carry the Sabbath name. The band remained creative always. Not all of albums were slamdunks, but all of them were interesting - except 13. Iommi getting some of the talented, genuine Sabbath alumni back together for a new record, be it Martin, Hughes, Butler, Gillan or any other guy that carried the Sabbath torch through the darker times, would be a dream come true. And none of this "call it something else" crap. Iommi IS Sabbath! Hail!

I find it disheartening that the business end of the rock music world has caused so much distress for artists and fans alike. 13 and subsequent tour were a cash grab plain and simple. I get it. These guys are in their twilight years and want to leave something behind for family. I remember watching the 11/11/11 press conference and as a fan who was there from the beginning, I was so excited to hear the news that the original lineup was headed back to the studio for one more album. The way it all played out was disappointing to say the least.

Since there are so many obstacles, hurtles and hoops to jump through, l just don’t see it happening. It would be great to have the original band record a final studio album, but l do not think it will ever come to fruition. Sorry.
Keep up the exquisite work men. Prog On! Lightning to the Nations!

Great episode, I thought my neighbours were tormenting their cat there for a moment before I understood that it was some background noise. haha I'm not sure that we need another Black Sabbath album with Ozzy. I rather see them reunite with Tony Martin because whatever Ozzy lays his hands on these days will be more or less a product of the label with 14 song-writers and people who will interfere and decide what goes on the album and not until we have one big radiofriendly mess. I think that would be less likely with a low-key release with Tony Martin but I guess that won't happen since they more or less have deleted those albums from the discography. 13 didn't do that much for me personally so, maybe it's time to let it rest because I just can't see them come out with something excellent in 2022.

Great video! I think Bill has been on record for a while now about "not having the chops" (his words) to tour anymore, but that he'd love to have the four original members do one final record together. Like most Sabbath fans, I'd love to see that happen, of course, but to me it seems like the quality would need to be up to Sabbath standards, and that they should just kick the lawyers and Sharon out of the fucking room first. I'd love to see them maybe get together (just the four of them) to chat, get reacquainted with each other, and then maybe put them in a practice room to jam and see if there's any magic left. But the key for me is that if whatever comes out is subpar, then they should simply graciously bow out, and not just release a by-the-numbers album like 13, which I think was a huge mistake.

There have been times I've tried to revisit to hopefully find a new perspective on it but it always leaves me flat. I like a few songs but the rest sounds uninspired and forced.

We're talking about men in their mid 70's. I think its reasonable to presume that they all listen to and enjoy music that's not hard rock or metal. If they were to put out an album I would want to hear something that actually represents their true state of humanly existence instead of some contrived bullshit that they or their handlers think their fans would want to hear based on their history.

I would absolutely love for that to happen, especially since 13 was so......ehhhh. Riffs were good but sounded like it was written more for what they were doing with Ronnie in Heaven and Hell. The absence of Bill Ward was really felt. Didn’t have that 70’s vibe at all. As much as it should happen, I really don’t think it will. I hope to God I’m wrong, but it would take a miracle. Maybe at this point the most we can hope for is a reunion with Tony Martin. I would definitely welcome that though. Tony has got so many riffs sitting in the bank. He just needs open the vault and record, record, record, and I think getting Tony Martin back would be the most realistic scenario. I love that era and would definitely welcome it. 🤘🤘🤘

As much as I’d liked to see the classic Sabbath crank out another album, at the same time I wish they wouldn’t. Bill is not really in shape to perform and Ozzy doesn’t really have a voice anymore. Tony Iommi tried since the late 90s to get Ozzy back in the studio to do another Sabbath album, but it was put on hold because wanted to focus on other projects from Ozzfest to the Osborne’s reality show. As Tony Iommi was putting together the Dio years compilation, it got the ball rolling for Tony and Geezer to reunite with Vinnie and Ronnie. Sharen tried to Torpedo it by telling Tony “listen, I’ll clear out Ozzy schedule for a year as long as you and Geezer don’t do this thing with Ronnie” and that’s when Tony told Sharon that he had been trying to get Ozzy back in the studio for ten years and these guys (Ronnie and Vinnie) they were ready to go right then and there. Then of course we lost Ronnie in 2010 to cancer and I think Ozzy said to himself that we need to get in the studio and do another sabbath album because Tony started battling cancer shortly after Ronnie’s passing. I wouldn’t say 13 is a bad album. When it came out I propably would have. Now I just look at it and think of it as the guys just strolling down memory lane

    • @jimmycampbell78
      @jimmycampbell78 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I agree. We don’t really need another Black Sabbath album; I can’t see it from these guys who are quite old now too as well. Ozzy’s voice is shot and Bill Ward has been basically retired for a long time. I don’t see what they could do now that would be any good.
Having said that, I would like to see a Black Sabbath reunite of Tony Martin, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice if any line up reforms! Not the original guys.

I think they should do it, without the pressure of touring. With health being an issues, do like the Beatles, just release music without touring.
I think one with all four guys will feel like a true bookend.
I like 13 much more than you guys, so I'm not coming from the perspective of ending on a better note than that.
But because Bill is much more creative in the writing process than a lot of drummers are, I think his participation is significantly more than just a drummers' signature sound.
I also think that if they make a record without the pressure of touring behind it, they also don't have to worry about creating songs that they know they(Ozzy) can pull off live. They can go as far as their creativity takes them.
Just my two cents. I'm greedy, I want more sabbath. I want more Iommi.

And I would have Tony Martin on vocals with the other 3 and 10 tracks with a bonus track with Ozzy on vocals. Making 11 tracks. If not Tony Martin maybe Iommi could call Glenn Hughee in for the 10 tracks. And do a 5 city of the largest metro cities in The US and 3 in the UK with pay per views for the shows that could after all is done they would come out on DVDs. And that would be it. But if closure is 13 then so be it. TC nice episode guys.

If Bill Ward actually plays on the album , then Ozzy Osbourne's involvement would work. If it's just Geezer and Iommi with a random drummer then they may as well hire a real Vocalist. One of the main reasons that people aren't happy with 13 weren't only the limitations of the aging Ozzy Osbourne Vocals, the rehashing of old riffs, and the fact that Bill Ward wasn't behind the kit. A lot of people have been unhappy about the fact that the hired drummer for the project not only played nothing like Bill, but his drumming was robotic and boring. If they were going to repeat themselves they could have at least hired someone who tried to play similar to Bill. The drums on the first 3 Black Sabbath albums were a big part of why the songs were so interesting the first time around. Take that away and all your left with are slow boring songs that are played better by all the Doom Metal bands that Black Sabbath originally influenced

Considering that Ozzy Osbourne has not sounded that great since Ultimate Sin he has little excitement left if Ordinary Man and 13 are the best he has to offer. If they don't want to record with Tony Martin they need to find another Vocalist on that level

Why is everybody so obsessed with another Black Sabbath album when they are almost 80 years old? would you want to be in the studio trying to play hard rock music when you are near 80 ? I personally am satisfied with 50 years of Black Sabbath music. I'll beat you in this video Don't listen to the 1983 through 2013 albums. You guys have to remember it is a business. It's like when The Beatles broke up and everybody was begging The Beatles to get back together John Lennon said one thing he said if you want to hear The Beatles get all of our solo albums and play them back-to-back and you will hear The Beatles, Let that sink in Black Sabbath is done they want to carry on with their lives before they die. Please, Metal gods, make the Andrew Watt thing go away.
This whole bit about writing the record with the production team(instead of his primary axe slinger writing the music, and someone like Geezer or Daisley doing the lyrics) which has largely been in place since Down to Earth, is not what most of us want.
Sharon wants the 'current' hot producer type so they can make a hit that make a dent in the current market. That's short sighted in context of his fan base. At his age there's no need to chase new fans. Go out with an album that proudly stands among the first 6-7 solo records(for me it's 7, I love Ozzmosis).
And for a final sabbath album I think they need to find a producer that promotes a combination of their classic feel, but allows creativity of each of them. They have so much musical experience away from each other post Never Say Die. Utilize all that.
Don't worry about hits, marketing, whatever. Their name alone can carry that.
