In other words Disney won’t pay for a 3rd season until it sees the ratings for season 2 and when they’re in the floor Disney will announce that they’re not funding a 3rd season and the BBC will then retire the show as they’ve no money to make it on their own.

I have been a big fan of Doctor Who from its very start, but unfortunately they have taken the Doctor from a hero who fights evil to the present Doctor who now unfortunately is just a crybaby. As in this last season all Ncuti has done is cry in every episode and flirt with men

I can almost 100% guarantee that the ratings for the Christmas special and season 2 will not be any better than season 1.
Until they change the production team, actor and writers this show will never get the high ratings it had in the past.

Hard disagree? Why is everyone hating this latest season, it had some legitimately banger episode. Boom and the one where it’s ruby from the future were legitimately as good as some of the better capaldi or smith episodes.

They don’t have to be straight or white. There should be no reference to sexuality in the programme at all. It is irrelevant who the actors choose to sleep with in their personal life. That should not be part of the show

If Ncuti definitely said DW is filming S3 next year, then he must have got that idea from somewhere. I doubt he'd just be assuming. Which, to me, means the BBC/ RTD must have asked him to keep his diary free for xx months. Again, I'm doubtful they'd be so unprofessional as to say 'maybe, just in case' or whatever. He is in demand, so they'd want to lock him in. Although scheduling can change or clash sometimes. Something just doesn't add up for him to say that and be completely off the mark (not 'of'' as that article had it).
Yes. I'm suspecting that, in negotiations about it's ongoing partnership, Disney is suggesting a fairly major re-vamp before Season 3 which possibly may mean major changes to production team staff (possibly including RTD and Gatwa?). But Ncuti hasn't been kept in the loop/up to date about it as the BBC doesn't want to stir the pot in regards his contract until things are certain.
So, Ncuti's knowledge is based on his contract including a 3rd Season and the previous belief by the DW team that Season 3 would be filming in 2025. So this "editing" incident may have been a rude awakening for him about what's really going on.
Either that, or there's ruptions between Ncuti and the DW production team (akin to what happened with Eccelstone) meaning communications are bad, so Ncuti didn't even think to tell them of the Norton interview coming up, leading to him not being briefed in advance about what not to say about DW. You'd think because it's all BBC they'd know when their star is going to appear on another BBC show though, but perhaps not.
The writing is terrible and damaging the show. RTD said he was burnt out and not prepared to return and I wish he hadn’t. Maybe Charlie Brooker could take over with decent science fiction writers who understand something of science. RTD’s version is more soap fantasy with dreadful musical numbers and a highly sexualised Doctor. I hated the flirty behaviour with Tennant and so I certainly dislike it here. It needs new people working on it who will respect the basics and not sabotage what worked for over 50 years. RTD is spiteful and seems to go out of his way to upset Classic fans. In his hands the show will face cancellation. Let’s have an older scruffy Doctor who’s less about body image and sex appeal and more about eccentricity.

I have been watching since Late Hartnell era and I am a true fan. Yes there have been some bad story lines but that was just the same back in the day and please don't blame the actors. Jodie Whittaker is a fine actor and so is Ncuti Gattwa. It doesn't matter how good you are if the source material is poor. Ncutti obviously loves playing the part and I believe would happily do a 3rd if it was on time. A year is a heck of a long time for any actor to wait around, especially when at the top of their game. Disney is a Corporation and is about sales the BBC not so much. To say that it should be taken off like some people say is ridiculous. It seems that the folk saying this are the Anti-Woke brigade and Anti-Gay. If you don't like it switch off and watch something else

Methinks they doth protest too much about the "censorship" of Ncuti's interview. Their claim it was The Graham Norton Show that edited it, not at the behest of DW and the BBC, didn't sound believable to me.
Another sci fi TH-camr, who doesn't cover DW barely at all usually, has insiders in the industry in the US who have told him Disney isn't happy with RTD and would like him to take a step back from being show runner into a less "controlling the whole operation" role if they are to continue with DW. His sources are usually pretty good. So, your speculative questions about what Russell will be doing in the future may well be quite prophetic.
He would do well as an executive producer, but someone else needs to come in as showrunner. RTD was running on fumes when he left the first time. Nothing in this era proves the contrary.

Alternatively it has occurred to me that perhaps he could have slow and hard to discern signs of developing very early dementia/senility. That's because reduced work performance can be the only early sign, something often not noticed.
I've recently seen a local previously excellent business close and go under because of the owner operator running the business into the ground due to a subtle (at first) and increasing decline in his work performance. Family members didn't realise it was early and slow onset dementia until it was too late to step in and save the business. They would have been hindered in identifying it/not noticing because they were probably at first putting the business starting to struggle purely down to the decreased trade because of pandemic. It was very sad as it could have been sold as a successful business for someone else to buy and run, giving great funds for the original owner operator's early retirement, medical and care costs.
