2:20 I'm so happy that he got his wish for the Series 10 finale... him saying "Mondasian Cyberman" on-screen, while being in-character... must've been a blast for him!
apple outlaw no, they wrote that for him! They knew he wanted that and wrote the finale, gave him an ending he fantasized about! It really warms my heart how they did that
That's one of the things I love about Capaldi; he's just as much an uber fan as all of us, and he's watched from the very beginning. I couldn't have asked for a better "first" Doctor. He and Colin Baker should do a vid about looking back on Classic Who together.
TheRedCreeperTRC Yeah, couldn't help but feel sorry for him in that recent DWM interview. Reason I bring him up is because he also watched Who from the very beginning. Main difference being that at that time, Peter was still a kid, while Colin was already studying law.
He was the first I watched on a regular basis, aka my "gateway" Doctor. I became a fan during the period between Time of the Doctor and Deep Breath, but while I read up on the show, I opted to wait for Capaldi to start his run before I started watching any visual Who media.
Rhys Parton and he’s such a genuinely nice and good fan too. Look at most DW fans (or most fans in general). They are so mean and elitist; they have so many criteria for being a “true fan”; they’ll never allow opinions that disagree with their own and spend 20 years talking about how X writer and X story destroyed the show forever. I mean maybe Capaldi has those thoughts too, but he doesn’t spend eons parading the internet to enforce his opinions. He just loves the show and likes to show his love; a lot of fans love the show, but choose to show hate and toxicity towards everything they don’t agree with
@@vullord666 I'm not even sure if Peter knows how to use social media, but even if he did he definitely wouldn't attack others over their opinions. He's one of those few actors that's a genuinely good human being.
I could just sense that Christel was trying her best to keep her cool through out that entire interview but probably screamed the very second Capaldi left the room. I would have loved to hear more! I was hoping he'd give his opinions on my favourite classic story...'Inferno'. - James
Leigh B Wouldn't we all? Haha. Not many of us are able to sit down and just watch "one episode" of Doctor Who on days like that :-) I know can't - and it doesn't even have to be a rainy day for me.
now THIS is an interview. This makes me so happy because you can really see how much of a dedicated fan Peter is, he's such a geek. And Christel looks star struck the entire time. Love it.
Star Fox No they just mention it in "Deep Breath" Capaldi did mention his character from "Fires Of Pompeii ;might return. I imagine it'll be an on going mystery throughout his run as the Doctor.
The Tardis Pony 3rd favourite after Hartnell and Troughton. If his character and the writing remains as good as it was in S8 for the rest of his tenure, he might end up being my all time favourite.
The Tardis Pony Yep - he's my favourite - I love how he rolls Tom Baker, Hartnell and David Tennant all into one silver-haired package. My next two are Tom and David, followed by Pertwee (and what I love about him is the same as what Peter loves - when I was a kid, I'd watch and Jon's Doctor would come into a room, and you'd kind of relax, it was "oh, the Doctor's here. It's all going to be OK.") and then Smith. That's my top 5.
Aww Christel is so cute, she just can't stop smiling during this whole interview. :D Also she asks Peter to name 1 episode he likes and he just keeps going on and on. He names like ten or so. XD This is my favorite episode of the fan show up to now. ^^
And thanks to Christel for asking questions, then shutting up and letting him answer--a base-line interview technique that seems to escape a lot of too-eager fan/interviewers. Well done.
It was amazing to hear about Tennant's stories about growing up loving Doctor Who, wanting to be the Doctor when he grows up, his old letters... but this man is beyond a fan. He's the ultimate Whovian and he deserves this so much.
As a woman in her late 40s,I find Peter incredibly attractive inside & out. He's not only very handsome, he has such a good sense of humour and quiet down to earth likeability. He's a Whovian who knows his stuff. And pls,if you ever get a chance to see his 2 short films, they're brilliant. His Cricklewood Studio faux documentary is awesome. It even has a Goodies reference. His wife is so lucky.I am VERY jealous.
As a teenage girl in her second year of well, Americans would say middle school, but it's high school here, I agree with the above opinion. He's a fantastic man of brilliant acting skill, and an inspiring artist. And incredibly attractive.

I would absolutely love if Peter Capaldi came back as a writer one day or even more if he became show runner. He just has such a love of the show that I’d love to see in future episodes. I’m still really sad 😢 he wasn’t the Doctor for at least 100 years (I could have settled for 6 - 9 series though).

It's wonderful to hear Peter talking about his favourite stories. I love his enthusiasm for the show and the role of the Doctor, and I think we're incredibly lucky to have someone like him in the role. I hope he sticks around for a while. :D
My interview with Peter Capaldi. Sort of. 3:44 Christel Dee: "It's raining outside, there's nothing to watch on TV, which Doctor Who adventure do you pop into the DVD player to cheer you up?" Peter Capaldi: "Well, Death in Heaven was a great story, full of great actors and the plot was great. One of my favourites of the eight hundred or so episodes has to be Deep Breath. Or The Caretaker, I think the character of the caretaker was presented really well." Christel Dee: "Who is your favourite Doctor?" Peter Capaldi: Err, it has to be number thirteen. Or fourteen. Or twelve, it's really very... distracting. Hartnell was one of my favourites, but in first place, it'd have to be that chap after Matt Smith. He was brilliant, I loved him as a kid. I still do!"
Which season to start? Season 1? I tried to start the classic series but the quality of the screaming is just brutal. Did not get through but got to the cavemen part of season 1.
@@MegaGermanShepherds mate if you are going to start DW i suggest pertwee era as it has better quality and colour but watch some specific episodes from hartnell and doctor 2
Dominic and Robyn Flynn Thanks! Already did watch the 1st Doctor’s seasons but a little bit of 2nd Doctor’s. I may have sneaked in watching an episode of the Master and 3rd Doctor meeting last year.
His ideal scenario with one of his favourite monsters (as well as two legendary Masters) became a reality in his finale, and then in his last episode at Christmas he ventured with the Doctor he watched at 5 years old... Peter's probably had the best run any actor could ever have as the Doctor. He's truly the number 1 fan.
I get chills from this. To hear from the mind and lips of the actor himself that he's a fan and truly appreciates the history of the series. While Capaldi is not yet my fave doctor, he's fast becoming my favorite actor portraying the Doctor. I still love Tom Baker and David Tennant's performances, but Capaldi's pushing his way up the ranks to maybe be in the top three or five by the time he's done. Excellent grasp of the character, which I feel is something Eccleston kind of lacked. While Smith might have been from a marketing standpoint what Doctor Who needed to bring in a younger audience, Capaldi gives so much pathos to the role while also showing a vulnerability, and I see glimpses of the previous incarnations in Capaldi's performance. It's like he's channelling the other actors. Not like he's blatantly impersonating them, but he sneaks in a little bit here and there of what he remembers from past performances that he loved. Definitely done his home work. It's great to know that, like we the audience, he's loved this role since childhood and is truly riding this tiger into the depths of hell and heights of heaven and wherever it takes him. What a ride this must be for him.
I like Peter Capaldi's answer to the last question but I also like how The Doctor answered it. From "The Power of Three" "I'm not running away. But this is one corner… of one country, in one continent, on one planet that’s a corner of a galaxy that’s a corner of a universe that is forever growing and shrinking and creating and destroying, and never remaining the same for a single millisecond. And there is so much, so much to see, Amy. Because it goes so fast. I’m not running away from things, I am running to them. Before they flare and fade forever."
Corey Dolan yeah that was brilliant and the way Matt delivered it was amazing. Matt Smith is an amazing actor who was bogged down by some terrible writing at times. I think it showed in the 50th when he held his own with Tennant and Hurt. He wasn't my favorite Doctor but he was a joy to watch.
***** It really is just memorization. You'd be surprised what you can retain, especially through repetition. I mean look at stage actors (I am one) they can retain entire 5 act plays with whole monologues. Now granted they have a lot more time to memorize those then say a TV actor does when shoot a series such as this but as you say they can also call for a line and cut. For the most part they only need to remember the lines for that specific day and those scenes they are shooting. It's not terribly difficult. Capaldi probably has the toughest job especially with speeches gets.
***** yeah they get dailies which are just chunks of the script that they are going to be shooting ahead of time so they can memorize that bit. Now if there is a change in shooting schedule or something changes on short notice and they are handed changes on set then directors are more lenient on them. There are tricks that you learn along the way to memorizing the lines more quickly and they don't stay in your head very long. Most of the lines you learn will be forgotten almost immediately after your done shooting or with the play or whatever your doing due to the nature of the memorization.
I really miss the Fan Show. I could just sit here for an entire day listening Peter and Christel talk about Doctor Who. Peter should come back and write an episode or something if he still wants, he's got so many great ideas and he knows the show and the character of the Doctor better than anyone else on the planet I think.

Peter Capaldi is my 3rd fave doctor of all time and 2nd fave out of all the modern Doctors. He is absolutely brilliant and you can tell from this interview that he really is a true fan. Aww.... He's such a fan! It's great to see! Awesome interview and looking forward to Series 9!
This has to be one of my favorite interviews with Peter. Seeing him recall some of his favorite episodes is a true joy to see.
Omg he is a such nerdy fan for the show..... Great that he is the doctor
Fantastic episode-very entertaining to see two of the biggest Whovians in a room together chatting about the Doctor Who. It's great to have Capaldi playing the Doctor, as he's such a massive fan of the show himself.
Capaldi is so friendly and can always relate with the fans! I bet Christel was so excited, I know I would be.
I love how she manages to keep professional, even though there are a cuple of moments where she is geeking out inside and it bubbles up to the surface a little bit.
I could listen to Peter talk about Doctor Who for hours. You can just tell that he loves the show as much as the rest of us
really happy with the return of the Mondasian Cyberman
I adore how many doctor who actors and crew members are massive fans of the show, it just shows how much passion is in this show
Thank you, thank you for the awesome closed captions!
love this, his enthusiasm, especially when talking about what episodes to watch, brilliant!
I do love that he's such an old series fan boy.
I love how he loves Doctor Who. His enthusiasm is so contagious and he has such a great taste for episodes-stories in my opinion!!
He loves the show so much, I could listen to him talk about doctor who all day
+TheCoskilla exactly hfrftuyinmiubtuvrcyt
What a nice guy, I love his enthusiasm for the show. Nice to see i'm not the only one who loves the Rings of Akhaten as well...Great interview Christel!
He's such a nerd and it's greeeeaaaat!
I love how Peter Capaldi is a fan of the classics because it's bringing more people to watch the earlier Doctors. Also not to mention how kind this man is!
I have only heard of a few Classic Who stories, but the way he talked about them makes me want to watch all of them
That Pertwee impression though... Fantastic!
3:07 Capaldi really is the doctor, he’s seen things from the future
Peter Capaldi on the outside: Tom Baker just has the most wildest hair
Peter Capaldi in the inside: Hold my jelly babies
really wish I could meet this man. Been a fan of his from way before his Doctor WHO days
So was he behind pushing the Mondasian cybermen for season ten? Cause if so, excellent work Capaldi, that was one of the best episodes of new who.
Well, looks like Peter got to see that Genesis of the Mondasian Cybermen story after all, in the season 10 finale.
Peter is a fantastic actor and very lovely bloke! So glad he is the Doctor and I hope he stays in the role for many years to come!
This man not only predicted the Series 10 finale but also the Series 12 finale!! 🌀
Holy heck. At 3:26 he predicted World Enough and Time. Peters does get crazier hair than Tom Baker at the end of series 10
I think the episode was created because he wanted it.
7:26
His, his, his, his, his, his delicacy, his, his, his ability...
It’s so cute to think he said he wants to bring back the mondas cybermen and not only did they bring them back but it was HIS story. He’s living his dream job and it’s so sweet to watch
Wow that was amazing, just listening to Peter talking about the show! It's so great!
Lol Christel you were trying so hard to keep your cool and awww Capaldi is such the fan, remembering episodes from the past and present ☺️
Who knew that this would bring Peter Capaldi one of his final showdowns as The Doctor
Way to go Christel! So jealous you got to interview Capaldi! He's fantastic!
it makes me happy to see Peter bring up some new series episodes as well as some from the classic era, really shows he was an active fan up until the day he got the request to succeed Matt
2:58 chibbnal: write that down write that down
It's so wonderful to have an actor who plays the Doctor who loves him as much, maybe more, than we do. Fantastic!
So that's how Chibs got his Idea for the Cybermasters.
This made me so happy! I can't wait for series nine!
this man predicted the season 10 and 12 finales at the same time
I am physically pained by the cuteness of both of these people.
Have to love listening to Peter Capaldi talk about Doctor Who. He's so cosmic! 😛
And I second that last comment about her hair.
Christel is so lucky to be able to meet Peter Capaldi!
Like Jon Pertwee, I could listen to Peter all day! I love the Mondasian Cybermen idea, hope the writers are watching!
I hope that somehow the invasion/ revenge Cybermen come back in that form, like in audio, it would be EXCELLENT!
Andrew Lewis I don't think they have so much time to lose 😆
Andrew Lewis I have come to you from the future to te you they made the episode and it was fantastic.
I forgot about this series. Spending my Friday night watching all of the 'episodes.'
I could listen to peter talk about doctor who for hours
I am teary eyed at his utter nerdiness... :)
Really good interview, Christel! Thoroughly enjoyable!
This is what happens when two fans at the same room :D I laugh so hard!
