BD. THANKS FOR NOT GOING ALL AIR MARSHALL ON THIS VIDEO. YOUR VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND STRAIGHT TO THE POINT. I DIDN'T GET BAFFLED WITH BULLSHIT AND WAS ABLE TO FOLLOW RIGHT ALONG. 👍👍😎✌👊
My favorite setup item is this: Function -> Custom Voice Setup -> Custom Voice Events -> Add New Sound Event -> Switch Change Report -> Change Switch: Inhibit to the Bind I button -> On Pos 0: < silence > - click the roller button and do a short scroll to Time Remaining. You are done. Now any time you are flying you can push the "I" button and she will tell you how many minutes and seconds you have left. You can put time remaining on either switch position but you only want it on one position or you will get the time remaining announcement twice. Having Time Remaining on this switch will not interfere with the bind process.
First off, GBO!!!! Second, Great vid. About to get a NX8 and I have an old plane that I just put new motor and ESC in it. Been looking into how to set one up from start to finish. Big help. THANKS
Its funny, I never even knew there was a stock template built into my NX until I watched your how to save a template video. I loaded it onto an acro to see what it was. I've always just set up every plane from scratch, because I began with flite test scratch builds and a cheap DX6.
I just stumbled across your site and I am so happy. I got an nx6 a year ago and have been unable to figure it out. I think I might be able to start getting somewhere now. Question. Is the nx6 setup much different from the nx10?
I always set the expo to a value that's 1/4 to 1/3 of whatever the rate is. If the rate is 100%, I set the expo to 25% or 33% depending on the size of the control surface. If the low rate is 60%, I'll set the expo to 15% or 20%. After some test flights to get the control surface throws adjusted, I then go back and tweak the expos for the feel I want around neutral.
Using the monitor i have a method to match different rates and expo to get the same end value/result.Check out my dual rate and expo tutorial... Thanks for sharing your info too :)
@@BDTennessee Yeah, I watched most of that one, but stopped for some reason when you started showing how to move the stick to 20% and set the expo for the same output in each of the three rates. I've now watched the rest of it. You set the expo for the 100% rate to 35% which is just barely more than my 1/3 setting of 33%. I'm not sure what you used at 85%, but I think it was 20%. That's 1/4.25 which is really close to my 1/4th setting. And you used 15% for the 70% rate which is 1/4.67. I understand that you're wanting the same throw at 1/5 of the stick's movement. That's not very far on either side of neutral. I think if I were to use that method, I would match the throws at 25 or 33 percent of the stick travel. However, I'm not sure I could feel a 5% difference in expo at a rate of 70% or a difference of 10% expo at a rate of 100%. I generally want at least 15% expo and no more than 35%. Every plane I have is different, especially for the rates. There is no one-size-fits-all. Expo is a very subjective thing and everybody is different. I just divide the rate by 3 or 4 and enter the value. Sometimes I tweak it based on the way it feels, but most times I never change it.
Hi, thank you for your useful teaching. Here´s my problem: I´ve got this Spektrum NX6, I was getting in an out in the menus to know the system, I created a ficticious model to practice on It, and in one of the menus I set a voice alarm, since there the screen got frozen in red background and repeats over and over alarm voice, It doesn´t obey any command from neither roller and other buttons nor from sticks, is a complete crazy mess, doesn´t do anything beside that. Can you give me a clue.
Concerning my last question. The video you told me to watch did not explain how to set up a receiver. I’m talking about purchasing a plug and play where you purchased the receiver separately. I haven’t been able to find a video that explains how to set up a spectrum receiver in a plane. Can you help?
When you put a spectrum receiver into a plug-in play plane I’ve seen the process where you have to set up safe and expert mode a different way and also put the aircraft on it snows click a button put it level click a button and so forth. I’m not certain of all the steps when or what to do.
@@derrickward8031 oh gotcha. @SpektrumRC has a complete series setting up. Only difference from this video is setting up safe and as3x flight modes. When you go into forward programming it tells you each step on the transmitter.
Hi BD, I like your style of explaining things about the NX10, Ive just bought mine, do you have a video on setting up Airbrakes (spoilers) on a motor glider? I'm trying to do this, and Ive spent 2 days trying to get it ... My plane is the AVA PRO, which has no ailerons. It has RES system for Rudd and Ele, and motor on the front. No ailerons, just airbrakes, one for each wing, I need to know how to set the airbrakes up. Thank you anyway. Paul.

Try putting the name of a plane on a NX8 or NX6 it is not like your NX10 Eddie
Eddie, im using the stock template in this video. If you have dark scheme, its Legacy Template. Recent update cause the letter to have issues showing up with Legacy Pallette. Change to a different pallette and issues will be solved.
Hi bd,is there any chance you could do a video setup for Accurc flight sim on the nx10 as I’m having trouble trying to configure it In England it’s getting cold and being able to fly on the sim is a great pastime when unable to go outside.I have been able to learn A lot from your video’s and the nx10 is a great tx.keep up the good work
I edited out on accident when making video haha. Go to Function List > Servo Setup > Click on Travel and scroll to reverse > Click enter on the switch icon above elevator. I show how to do this in the "Function List tutorial" on the channel as well for visual reference.
Omfg thank you. I spent hours just trying to reverse my elevator servo. Was extremely close to throwing this Rektum crap in the dumpster and going back to my futaba (which isn’t user friendly either, but at least they know servo reversing is a common setting we need to use). In a hundred more hours I would not have figured out that the word “travel” at the top of the screen was selectable and could be changed, when the other menus aren’t like that. Got it working now, thank you!
Great tutorial, I have to disagree about the flap switch setup, I'm a full scale pilot and have flown many different type of aircraft and in all these aircraft the flap switch whether it be manual or electric always starts with o degree of flaps in the up position and progresses downward to 45 degrees unless your in a Bush plane, those guys go nuts with their settings. In the end I guess it's what ever you feel comfortable with....
100% or -100% (Pos 0 flaps up)depending on the receiver is 0 degrees of flaps. Numbers are percentages not degrees. Airplane owners manual will give rates of percentages or mm of deflection and you adjust accordingly. If the book doesnt have recommended starting points then i use 15* half and 30* full or 20* half and 40* full. Side note:values i was using for video purposes were generic numbers however i have seen some use those percentages.
Really enjoyed the video. I followed the setup and everything worked. However, when I start my NX8 and then plug in the planes battery there's a Warning message on my NX8. The message reads - ESC: 8.1V 0.0 A 32.OF Also, when I disconnect the plane battery another Warning shows - ESC: 655.4V 655.5A -----F I can use the clear button on the NX8 which gets rid of the messages and takes me to the main window. Question is... 1. Are these Warnings showing somethings wrong? 2. Do I have something setup wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
You have a minimum start voltage. If battery is below that when plugging into ESC it will alarm on radio. When unplugging thats a glitch that happens. Its cause it sees voltage lost.
@BD Tennessee really appreciate you getting back to me. I'm a newbie to rc at 67 and looking to get the kids and grandkids into this hobby. I understand now about the battery being removed and the warning of low voltage. Confused on the Warning coming in after plugging in the battery where it shows 8.1V. I started with a charged battery or at least almost charged battery so what is the minimum start voltage and is there a way to lower it on the NX8 so the warning doesnt come on from say 8.0 volts on up?
