  • How do you bind a transmitter to an RC plane, spektrum edition? We get asked this question all the time. We also get asked: What is BNF (bind and fly) vs RTF (ready to fly)? In this video, we teach beginner rc airplane pilots how to bind with a spectrum transmitter (Tx) to an airplane with a built in spectrum receiver (Rx). This is part of our beginner airplane series playlist. We really hope this helps! If you have video ideas please leave them in the comments!

      I bought a carbon cub s+ from someone. It will not bind with the dx6e transmitter I bought brand new. There is also no port to put a bind plug in, just 2 bare wires in the battery compartment with a factory “bind” sticker attached. What do I do? I tried to bind it outside as well. It just shows “bind failed” on the transmitter every time I try to bind it the two ways I’ve seen online, without using a bind plug... not that I could anyway because there is no plug on those bare wires to plug a bind plug into. How can I bind it to its new transmitter?

    Your camera crew (wife) does an excellent job of showing me what I want to see. My last "flight" was with line flight, about 100 years ago. Yeah, I'm old, but because of you I just ordered a new RC plane to learn to fly. I never really learned to "fly" just crash. With all the new technology and being retired with time to enjoy life, I'm looking forward to actually accomplishing what I started to do 60 years ago. Happy New Year and I'll be waiting for your next video.

    Somehow I got 2 UMX planes bound by luck and have no idea what I did. Now I have a 3rd UMX, the PT-17, and bound it BUT no safe mode. After watching your video, I feel confident and understand the binding process. Thanks much.
    Now, if only I had a decent place to fly. I am learning to fly over a small pond surrounded by tall pine trees, and I have to compete with the pond denizens: alligators, otters, bald eagle, buzzards and red ant hills all over the place. It's a challenge and a little fun, when I get better it will be funner.

    Great video for beginners but as some others have also said depending how far you want to go in the hobby the T16 jumper pro in my opinion would be a must and in some places it's cheaper than the spectrum and one of it's best features is it will bind to pretty much any receiver where as the spectrum will only bind to spectrum receivers same with most of the other makes of tx. Keep up the great work

  • @DeadlyDiddly

    Very handy to know Nate, and I'm the same--takeoff and landing flaps should be DOWN on the switch, not UP, but binding that way does it automatically set up SAFE, AS3X and OFF (or "ACRO" for want of a better term) to a 3-position switch, and if so, which one? 🤔

      @TheRcSaylors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Burke! Great question 👍 Love that you are coming from Spektrum, considering upgrading to Spektrum so you'll be pretty familiar with the menus etc.. So most people would probably say go with the 8. It seems like the obvious choice. However, 9 times out of 10 I find myself using my 6 over the 8 simply for the batteries alone. Radio batteries are the worst. They take forever to charge and generally you are lucky to get a days worth of flying out of them. To me this is a big deal. Hope this helps! 👍⚓😎

We think it was a fun experience but wouldnt want to fly that type of plane all the time. Hi great starter vid ,i have bought a dmx8e ,i know it can hold a lot of planes ,does it remember the binding for each plane or do you have to bind each time to change planes many thanks
    Ps love your channel happy new year to all

    • @DeadlyDiddly
      @DeadlyDiddly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Derek, once you've added the new model it will always be the model selected when you turn on the transmitter, but you can select any other models you've made from the 'Model Select' list on the main menu. The selection menus are pretty much identical on all Spektrum transmitters, and you can see this menu @11:18

    Quick question: Is 6 channels enough for a plane with flaps, lights and gear? Or do I need 7 channels for that? Thanks for the help!

    • @sthrnrcaviation8735
      @sthrnrcaviation8735 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that you need 7 channels for planes with lights, flaps, retracts, throttle, ailerons, rudder, and elevator

    I'm gonna use the battery, transmitter, and reciever from my sport cub s to my second plane, the parkzone ultra micro p51d mustang. I just need to know how to pair the reciever and transmitter. And in another video, you said your favorite plane or warbird was the p51 mustang, me too!

    You should do regular update videos on this type of subject regarding rc planes and more technical information videos. Almost all videos from most rc planes channels are very basic in terms of the tech side of things.

    11:00 It almost HURT when Nathan pulled the film off the screen. 😖
    Sorry Abby, I’m on Team Nathan with this. I like to keep the film on as long as possible. I also leave my electronics (TV, DVD, A/C etc) remotes in the bag, so keep them from getting fingerprints on the buttons.
    I have a digital multi-meter that I bought from an electronics shop when I was about 15 years old. That meter has been used regularly ever since then, and it still looks just about brand-new; although it’s been through three 9v batteries in its life, and two sets of leads (I finally bought new ones last year), it STILL has the film protection on the display. At this point, I don’t think I’d be able to remove the film if I WANTED to! lol

    very informative easy to understand video, thank you for that because as awesome as spektrum videos are their very confusing for a beginner. I bought a carbon cub rtf and I'm in the process of learning to fly. Much success so far which is making me want to add more models to my collection. I'm looking at that exact transmitter for my next investment in the hobby. One thing I don't understand is that say I bind this radio to my carbon cub rtf, is it possible to keep the same program but make changes such as adding a mix to my rudder and ailerons? Guys are telling me that the cub is great with a 70% 30% mix. Can I still retain the same program but add the mixing? thanks and I wish you narrated spektrums video. That guy is good but really doesn't understand how hard it is to understand this from scratch

    Do not forget to ad the landing gear screws and plates they are not installed out of the box, on a hard landing the wheels will pop off I know from experience.
