I just bought this plane. Before I never really knew why these Timbers were so popular. Now I exactly know why. The airplane is just so easy to fly, will do anything you want it to do to, and is just so predictive with new maneuvers you want to try with it. Inverted is the easier than any other plane I’ve flown. The power is Insane. It’s just one of those planes you can do touch and goes with and short spot landings and takeoffs all day long.
Very glad to hear you're enjoying the video!!! We have been at this for some time, and hope you'll be back, only about 1600 more videos waiting, if you're bored ;)
I pulled the trigger on this. I've been wanting to get a Timber, and it was next on my list, and now this happened. Its a no-brainer. The quick disconnect plug on the wings, awesome...
I will always watch your videos first when a new plane comes out. You give in depth analysis that new people can use and I like that. Thank you Brian and thank you Camera Crew for Rockin this video 😎👍
Forgot to mention in my last comment but thank you also for the in depth setup of reverse thrust. I tried setting up the reverse thrust on my Evo but it didn't work. I immediately thought something was wrong and wasn't successful until I watched you and you mentioned exactly what I went through
48:48: "Horizon if you are listening put a percentage for us (here)...I want a percentage, everybody else does too!" YES WE ALL DO!!! Please listen Horizon/Spektrum!!!!
Thank you for your videos, humor, and positivity Brian. Assembling my Turbo Timber Evolution right now with help from your video in between carbon cub S2 flights!
Thanks for the step by step on setting up the reverse thrust and every other detail that you show. Ordered this flyer before I found you but very happy that you are here. Now just waiting on Horizon to get back in stock. Thanks for what you and your cam crew do Brian. Congrats on the 100k subscribers.
I bought my first turbo timber on your recommendation, and used it as my trainer, 100+ flights now, and have since purchased the the air tractor as my first low wing plane, but I am impressed enough with this to purchase a second because it's great fun, this time without the slats fitted ;)
Just picked this up today. Like always your videos are a gift to us hobby people horizon had a bulletin for the Avian ESC prone to over heating above 87 degrees. the fix to that is to slide the ESC to the nose of the plane underneath the battery tray. As per directions of horizon hobby
Brian, I'm a beginner and really enjoy the contact you share here on TH-cam. I'm a professional drone pilot for the Los Angeles city fire department. RC aircraft are a completely different animal and I'm basically a rookie again starting from the beginning when it comes to RC. Thanks for all of the contact very helpful.
Great video, I’m now a subscriber. One note. Being in the RC hobby: now at the age of 62 ,been building stick kits to foams since I was a kid . (1) most important factor no matter how long you have been teaching and building these models. Never install prop or props on any model until last . I’ve built Heli’s , planes. And vehicles. The drive is always last . Mistakes happen. Do not teach bad habits . Other then that you made my top 3 on you tubers for All steps , from building, set up, maidens flights, video ( camera crew / wife) 👏. Audio at times could use some upgrades. But. Certainly still well done. Please continue your outstanding & beautifully done videos . Note if you must install the prop early in the build just don’t tighten so it doesn’t have much bite if a accidental mishap should happen. If you ever dive into building you own fob quad copters ( props last is step number 1 ) P.S looking forward to purchasing this Bird and new Transmitter.
Thanks Bill, and welcome! As for the sucky audio...we're sorry about that. I think you happened into our channel at a gap in our Lav mics...we had an issue around this time and were in the process of upgrading. Thankfully, we've since worked through many of the woes of audio issues. Now we seem to have a stable, reliable, and effective audio solution, so please forgive us with past footage (and there's a LOT of it).
Thanks Brian I fixed the faux exhaust problem I had with my turbo Timber 1.5m after watching your video. Thanks for the help! Great videos. Keep up the good work.
Brian, you and your camera crew, with your enthusiastic reviews and instruction are what got me into this hobby. Mind you I'm still in flight sim mode with the WS2000, I've purchased an Arrows Trekker to learn on but also bought the Towers Hobby ASW 28, both on your recommendations, because I love the concept of sailing with power boost. However, every sport I ever taken on I felt it necessary to purchase gear in advance to drive incentive to the next level, kind of an incentive to progress. The models you test and review give me a clear path on how I'd like to progress in the hobby. Most importantly as a beginner, what not to waste my time and money on for pure guess work. Thank you to you and your wife for the dedication it takes to produce such an informative but absolutely entertaining channel, please keep up the great work. BTW, getting ready for first flight on my Trekker after Sim time on my NX6, about to unbox Tower Hobbies ASW 28 with AR630 but the next feather is the Timber Evolution. My thought, always have a goal to progress to or you'll never get there. Sorry for the long reply, just wanted to thank you for the great work you and your family do the for the hobby.
Awesome! Glad we could help you get where you need to be, without the usual "over-buying" that you've experienced with other hobbies. I tend to do the same, and learn that more often than not, I could have just saved a lot of cash for the steps I REALLY ended up needing. We try HARD to give this very crucial advice, even though it can be painful to follow this advice as a new RC pilot ;) Thanks for the kind words, and we're very glad you're here with us. Good luck. It's HARD when you're new, but don't forget the heart attacks of a new RC pilot are HOW you will know it's a life long habit ;) Enjoy you're lack of skills...seriously...it's FUN to learn. It's fun to be "Bad" at it - in a few short years, you'll be GOOD!!!!! I know this sounds crazy, but believe me, you'll eventually "GET IT" - and then you can say - WOW - you're like a fortune teller BrianPhillips ;) LOL And to answer you direct questions...Get what you have in the air. "Master" it...then get another plane coming. ASW28 is a great choice ( bprc.me/Tower_ASW28 + bprc.me/AR637T - if you want VARIO | bprc.me/AR631 - you might WANT the antenna for $5 more...just FYI since it's a SAIL PLANE it can get out there ) Without AS3X/SAFE... bprc.me/AR410 bprc.me/AR620 bprc.me/AR6610T bprc.me/AR8020T bprc.me/AR10400T bprc.me/AR14400T bprc.me/AR20400T With AS3X & SAFE... bprc.me/AR630 bprc.me/AR631 bprc.me/AR637T bprc.me/AR8360T
Kudos to Horizon Hobby support. My TTE arrived with a badly damaged box, and broken wingtip, so they are replacing the wings, unfortunately on back order so it will take a month. On the up side, hot glue...so I will have 2 wing sets. One with slats, one without. Now to watch Brians 2 hour assembly video!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Nice, fully assembled, and I must admit I didnt re-watch this. I think the ridiculous landing gear was the only headache. Installing the slats was actually very satisfying :) The elevator clevis was a perfect example of engineers changing something just for engineering's sake...it looks like its just begging to break loose and plummet the plane to its death...
Finally got my Evolution together. All went well... so simple a setup. Got the reverse going easily... nice to have your video to follow... thanks. The only issue I had was the fit of the wing. The wing bolt area on the fuselage... the half circles that face each other that are not in foam... these are bigger that the area of the wing that fit over this bolt area. I had to carve at least 1/8 inch back on the wing bolt areas so that the wing would drop over, and around, the fuselage bolt area. Not a big deal, but usually these things just fit. Cheers.
Congratulations Brian, you deserve those 100K subscribers, your videos are good, I enjoy watching your videos, you are a really good RC pilot, also your wife and you, form one of the best video teams, she is the best filming your videos. That Turbo Timber is gorgeous!
The first time I saw your video I subscribed. Your presentation is very informative, helpful & entertaining. My GF & I Lol at the comments you say at times. Anyway, 6 years ago I was interested in heli's & a hobby store salesman suggested my first purchase be the RF sim after a few months with RF & a 4 channel heli. I got the Walkera Master CP. After 3 crashes on 4 flights, I sold out to a friend. Fast forward. A friend with zero experience picked up a P-51 huge gas plane at an estate sale. My interest was renewed. I remembered flying planes was easier than heli's on RF & got RF 9.5, I have since put in maybe 500 hours during the pandemic, & used your link to purchase the TT Evolution on Pre-order & still waiting. Yes, this is my first plane. I realize flying a sim isn't the same as a real plane but, I've put the majority of my RF hours into landing. I've since learned to knife-edge, inside/outside loops, rolls, cuban-8, Immelmann roll, Split-s, hammerhead, & still working on hovering. I'm working on having my GF being my "Camera Crew" for my Maiden You are a lucky man having your wife like yours. She does a fantastic job. Do you have suggestions for my very 1st airplane flight? My plan is to go one step at a time. Start with Safe & not crash the Maiden Flight. I've never uploaded a video on TH-cam but, no matter what happens, I will upload my Maiden. After all sooner or later everyone crashes, right? Wish me luck. This is one where I can say, "I make my own luck"
Robert! Very capable plane for a first plane ;) GOOD choice, none the less. I hope you'll keep her in SAFE for a few rounds, and then get the plane back. Don't worry about doing a single trick, just fly her in a circle. I promise you will be just fine, if you can fly an RC heli in real life, you will be just fine. Give yourself a lot of room, and plan on being very patient with yourself, and you'll be fine! Good luck!
Brian, Megan, another excellent video. Thank you. It's refreshing to see a manufacturer, Horizon in this instance, responding to comments from its' customers and making changes/upgrades to their popular models. This is a great plane made even better. Now, all they need to do is to make their profit margins more realistic to allow for "friendlier" aircraft price range. Enough whining on my part. One other observation though... IMO, installing the prop should be the last assembly step. At most it's a safety concern, at the very least it often gets in the way during the rest of the assembly. By the way, I'm not ragging on Horizon about this, many manufacturers seem to take this route. Thanks again guys and I hope you both get to relax and enjoy the Memorial Day weekend.
Brian, Excellant build info and fly, but then you always do. I purchased this plane a few months ago. Not flown it yet. Thank you for your efforts and demo. Thanks to your wife. Good ones are hard to find. I found one too.
I just finished the build of this plane. Is my 3rd plane after the Apprentice S2 1.2m and T-28 1.1m. I thought it would be like 30cm bigger than the Apprentice, but IT IS HUGE!!! It is like 3 times the size! I was laughing like a lunatic while building it. Can't wait to maiden it tomorrow.
Can't wait.. I'm getting mine today in the mail and will be watching the build video. Hands down probably my most anticipated plane. " The Plane of Summer 2021"
Hey Brian you big goofball and camera crew thank you for your time sharing its very helpful for those new to this hobby and even old timers like myself teaching a old dog a new trick. I am 30+ years at this and the learning never stops. God bless both of you and thank you for your time happy flying my friend. P, S camera crew you do a swell job at making goofball look great ha ha ha...
Thank you for this GREAT video. I could not figure out why I couldn't get to the ESC menu to show up. I'm so glad for the 30 second rule. I'm also glad for the clarity on which LE I should be measuring to. I used the root and could not get any of the batteries to hit CG. Using the projected leading edge it balances great. Thank you again for your video.
I don’t like Timber’s. I’m a Maule guy. But this Turbo Timber Evolution hits it out of the park! Just like the Conscendo Evolution. I was able to figure out reverse thrust but you helped me solve what I thought to be a problem. With brakes on the esc and the prop winding down I noticed an odd noise just like yours. The esc brakes make that odd noise now I get it. Thanks for all you and your wife are doing for the hobby! Your subscribers know it and where else do you see so many replies to comments! I’m jealous of that battery bank of yours lol. But I’m surprised you’re not using the IX20 transmitter. That transmitter is expensive but worth every penny in my opinion.
Thanks Mike! Glad you notice that we respond. That's very important to me in my TH-cam "life" and we want to help our audience actually answer questions. We appreciate you being here with us Mike!
Thanks for all the awesome videos Brian (and camera crew)! I always search for a video from you when looking for certain information on a particular plane, settings, adjustments or just trying to decide if a certain plane is worth the investment. I love the fact that you go into detail on rc setup as well as the build. You guys are awesome Thanks again!
thanks for the video. Just bought a Timber(not a turbo) but your video shows me I made a good choice. Not a novice but been away from the sport for awhile and want to fly again.
If this plane comes with floats, then this is probably gonna be a really cool plane for me because the airfield I go to usually gets flooded once every couple of weeks, so having floats will be really cool for that place.
Floats does make the plane a LOT bigger, so transportation can be a bit more complicated. If you take off the wing, the pugs are a LOT easier on this one, FYI
Brian you are one of the best on TH-cam for RC planes only one thing is missing a Lavalier microphones so we can actually understand what you’re saying and when you’re saying it I just bought the evolution can’t wait to put it together with one of your videos thanks again for all you do God bless peace
John, We JUST upgraded, but Megan and I can't recall if we had in this video. There was a GAP in time where our old LAVS were not working properly, and we were using another method that kinda worked poorly. That has since been resolved, but I think you just caught one of the videos in the "gap" - sorry about that!!!
Thanks Brian. Now if only we could get Horizon Hobby to come up with a removable slat design, we could have the best of both worlds. Love your TH-cam Channel. Always very detail oriented and very informative.
Congrats on 100K! I need to either sell or wreck a couple planes so I can make room for one of these, always wanted a Timber for a float plane but now it's much better with that top hatch!
Well it’s been a long time coming.... but my timber EvO just shipped today!!! can’t wait, You mine I will be watching your video on this about a dozen times in the very near future!!!
Fantastic instructions on thrust reversing! Worked just as you taught although I put it on switch D to keep it ‘mostly out of the way’. Had trouble yesterday but had not done autoconfig on the telemetry (which might have been the trouble) but also did this promptly after plugging in the battery which might also have been the issue. Either way, easy peasy today!
Glad it helped! So many SMALL details make the difference here, which is why I always kinda stress, if you're newer (or returning) work through the process a few times and you'll be set. Some of it crosses over to most all planes, but other items are specific to each plane...which will keep you on your toes.
Very cool plane with nice upgrades, most of the planes I have purchased from horizon that comes with safe select, safe has already been programmed to operate from the gear switch unless you have retracts, then you have to do a little more programming, thank you for a very thorough build video.
Hi Brian, just finished moving the ESC forward and opening the cowl hole in the front and carving out about 20% of the styrofoam cross member up front and it become my next best favorite plane! ESC doing well and no change to it flying...LOVE IT!,,,still think my next plane I will go back to Nitro in a Big Stik 40 I just dusted off from kit closet...see on the field!😉
WOW 100K I remember back in the day you would get 2 or 3 views, and a few Likes. Ok now onto the Video. Time to relax for 3 hours. I’m sure I’ll have something to say after the video. Congratulations.
Pre-ordered this one from your link, Brian. Congratulations on 100K subscribers, that's a huge deal. Can't wait to see that plaque you're going to receive. I actually also have a Draco on order, but it's been about two months and I'm still waiting. If I get this one first (which is probably likely!) then it'll be a good trainer for the Draco anyway.
All my flying buddies kept bugging me to get the E-flite Turbo Timber 1.5 and i kept telling them i wont cause its a Bottom Feeder Battery Compartment and the Main Gear is Crap that breaks all the time! FINALLY Horizoned listened to the whiners and complainers of the earlier versions! So that one i might actually buy here Brian..
Brian bought the plane on this recommendation video and now I have watched this video over 15 times maybe more. I had put the landing gear parts in the wrong bit but after watching you do yours I knew what to do. I have finally set up safe, set up my expo and finally after much rewatching set up my reverse direction. To say I am happy really is an understatement. I would never have been able to progress in this hobby without your walkthroughs. Did you change any expo settings at a later date?
Thanks! So glad to hear your getting up to speed! Such a steep learning curve of strange things these companies just assume we all "KNOW" - HOW WOULD WE KNOW??!?!?! - and very happy you're following along. It's a lot of time, but you'll only need to watch a few of them and you'll be well on your way to doing it without my help ;) As for Expo...I don't think I changed it after maiden.
Brian another way to take of the problem you had with landing gear on Turbo Timber Evolution, is to get a triangular model file then cut a groove the length of the screw on two or three sides then put the screw in the hole turn it back and forth going deeper as you go. Try it next time you have a screw that starts but does not go all the way.
BTW for everybody watching and building this plane. I also had to cross thread the 8mm button head screw to get my landing gear on. Although mine is on the other side, which leads me to believe its the aluminum swivel brackets that were machined inaccurately. Brian knows how to use a screwdriver. I felt like a jackass until I watched this and saw his do the same thing. I contacted horizon they are sending me a whole new landing gear assembly.
Not glad you had an issue, but I'm glad to hear that I wasn't alone. Some of these minor issues are isolated, and others are not...like on the Carbon Z Cub SS 2.1m - the bolts that they picked for the landing gear wheel collars were RIDICULOUS...so we ended up replacing just THAT bolt. A set screw would have been about 100X better, then they would clear the DuBro tires when people add them too ;)
I have been waiting for the timber turbo 1.5 and have been told its been on backorder now i see why i can't wait for this to come out !! It will be a great addition to my fleet i hope it will be my stepping stone to war birds in looking for the P-51 1.5 as a goal to go to
Brian watching your video on the build if use the other end of your calipers you’ll notice there’s a pin that comes out, stick the base of the caliper on the end of the Bolt that pin to the BOTTOM of head (it’s kind of hard to explain) and you will get an exact reading of the length of that bolt. 🤔😉. GREAT………..VIDEO ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks! So glad you're getting what you need and still supporting us ;) That stand is gonna be nice. Sorry to hear you had issues because of that hurricane.
Finally got mine set up last night. I had a slight issue assembling the landing gear similar to your issue. The reverse thruster setup was a pain as my new NX8 changing the setting with the left right switch. And then I had to reverse the reverse switch. Can't wait to try it this afternoon...
@@BrianPhillipsRC tested in high wind not my best idea. I broke the propeller. Good thing I found them on eBay uses the same blades as on the Cirrus SR22T which are painted. Part number EFL5962
got mine yesterday had the same issue with the landing gear screw bummer. wanted to say thanks your video made me get it and i love it much better in person although your video was awesome..
Thanks, and totally get it. In person is always better!!! I try to say this once in a while, but I forget to remind people, if it looks good here, imagine how much more amazing it'll be in person!
Just ordered this from your link... back-ordered but I'm not in a big rush anyways...! After I get a few flights on it, I'm going to get bigger tires for it.
Well Brian, You finally got this out before other's that & didn't show reverse thrusting . So i have the Cessna 150 6s... vs 3/4 s...cheaper cost vs fun time. If i get one definitely thru your links. But back order is like standing in a military line patience .. lol nice flying great camera lady 😉👏
Just put mine together (mostly)....I used the screws and washers on the elevators since that opening seemed flanged out to accommodate washers? I now have to do the manual SAFE setup since I used the profile on my NX10 and got it to bind (using the button)....but no SAFE Back to building and watching you
I love the Timbers this one just knocks it out of the park So Awesome Great flying Brian Great job as always Camera Crew 🔥👍✌️ Congratulations on 100K guys that's awesome 🔥👍
@@orckiller91 I personally wouldn't tell someone to start with this plane. Although it is awesome and it has safe which is self leveling. I would go with something like the AeroScout. It's cheaper and you can get the Ready To Fly version. I would definitely suggest getting a lot of practice on a simulator. Have you flown any at all ???
@@orckiller91 Ok well in that case yes the Timber is a awesome plane. In my opinion it just wouldn't be a good first plane because of the expense. For someone that has never flown in their life and has no simulator experience would most definitely crash it and it would be a pretty expensive crash lol. So that's mainly why I would suggest getting something a little cheaper to start off with. Crashing and loosing a bunch of money would discourage most people and ruin the hobby for them. Being that you do have experience if you can afford it sure go for it. The Valiant is a awesome plane to start with also. I always suggest the AeroScout because its a pusher prop plane. You don't have to worry about buying a new prop and damaging the motor every time ya have a bad landing or crash. I've had my AeroScout for several months and I've crashed it several times lol and it still has the original prop on it. I've had to repair the fuselage and wing but it still flies great. ✌️
Hey Brian. As you had mentioned in this video that HH didn't cover the thrust reverse in the manual that you had at the time. It has now showed in the latest version of the TT evo on page 18 with a step by step procedure. Good call sir!
I’m just waiting for you to hit the 12kV line out front lol. Amazing videos! Just got into the hobby with a Sport Cub S2 and watched your video. Helped me out a lot. This plane is definitely #2.
I've hit the power lines....a few times, in fact. I kept flying with the Carbon Z Cub 2.1m, in fact for another 5-10 minutes after that one....the other was my Cessna Citation Longitude UMX...it was a 1.5 hour repair...
Forget last comment by me. I did not watch your video long enough to see the Avian programming part. I'll give that a try. I agree with you, E-Flite should have had the reverse pre-programmed. Thanks, great job.
Found your channel a few weeks ago and have watched a bunch of your videos. Your explanations are great for the novice like myself. You are also very modest - your skills at flying is way up there, man. I used to do RC planes back in the 1970’s then heli’s as well back then. My one BIG question for you is: How many dang planes do you have, man? Also, I agree with others in regard to your camera crew. She does a superb job capturing your content. It’s a shame that she never appears in front of the camera. Keep the content coming. I am learning bunches and getting the R/C bug again. By the way , I still have a Curtis Youngblood Rave 450 Heli that I intend to use to start back into the hobby. Impressed by the Eachine 180 heli. Never heard of it before seeing it here.
First off, welcome to the club ;) We're glad you're here with us!!! Megan, my wonderful wife and camera crew does very occasionally grace our audience with an appearance ;) (Check out the Airbus A380 Build Series, and she also flew the AeroScout 1.1m just the other day!!!)... As for getting back into the hobby, there's so much to hear, and we're very happy to hear you're getting back up to speed, and we're glad to be a part of it!
Brian, whenever you have to cut/grind a bolt put a nut on bolt first. Grind, then when you turn the nut off the bolt the nut acts like a tap and cleans up your bolt
Thanks for that Brian - you learn something new every day. Maybe you need to get yourself a cheap set of taps and dies, to finish the job the manufacturer didnt complete, shame because these models arent cheap so you shouldnt need to have to deal with this. Great channel.
I just found 3 in a store in Little Rock, bought it because the one I ordered is on backorder till September. Sorry I wasn't able to wait after using your link to buy it. The batteries and other stuff and the UMX version I did use your link. The one cool thing about being a truck driver is that I get around the country and am able to see and shop some pretty cool hobby shops. I have this obsession because I watched your Carbon Cub S 2 video. I think I have a hobby problem LoL! Thx for all your time putting these videos out. And cudos to the camera crew, you are one lucky man. 🙃
lol awesome I was waiting for the turbo timber to come back in stock to get it but oh well cant wait I am pulling the trigger I love the color also. thanks for the video
I have never flown a plane and I just bought one of these 🤣, this video is very helpful for sure and I will use it to set up mine. It will be a while b4 I fly it for sure. Got a lot to learn lol.
Well I own all the Timbers they made including the UMXs with the exception of the Xs. And just ordered this one ( of course) thru your Link. Yes I watched the whole dam Video.
The barrel that the landing gear mounts to has a flat spot on it where the gear mounts to. I think the barrel had to be rotated for the screws to go correctly.
Brian watching you fly I pickup on things, like when your right wing hits the ground its when you use reverse thrust at high rpm, if you use reverse thrust giving low power slowly increasing power, I think in would look more to scale.
About time that you updated your radio I just put in the part number and the radio loads the model in cluding all the settings and now have the Qwerty board which is also in the update.
I wish it was QWERTY...it's just a map of a keyboard ;( I already turned that feature off!!! I HATE THAT PART... Rest of the update was super easy, and painless ;) I think this video is a few weeks older than you might realize - this can be true of the "ear;y releases"....sorry for the confusion this might cause ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC I'm back into the hobby after a ten year hiatus, I was able to use my dx6 pretty easily but this damn ass nx6 is so advanced as far as features that I'm really struggling. Not to mention everything I buy seems to have faults. My timber evo had all the same unbox issues as yours, plus a damaged wintip and an elevator servo that completely was frozen
100% - now you see ;)
You are so lucky to have a wife who can handle a camera as well as she does! Hats off to her! Thank you both for all the great videos.
Agreed!!!! Thanks ;)
Driving home from work today I said to myself "I bet Brian Philips already has a review up for the Evolution". Glad I waited to buy a Timber
Thanks!
Finally a guy that makes a video extracting and showcasing 100% potential of these stol planes, even prop reversing in the sky !!
Awesome !
Very glad to hear you're enjoying the video!!! We have been at this for some time, and hope you'll be back, only about 1600 more videos waiting, if you're bored ;)
The level of detailed information that you provide in every video is awesome Brian. No matter the plane, always a clinic. Great job!
Thanks RC FlyGuy! I'm glad you enjoy this ;)
Agree. I am only in the Hobby because if his detail
I pulled the trigger on this. I've been wanting to get a Timber, and it was next on my list, and now this happened. Its a no-brainer.
The quick disconnect plug on the wings, awesome...
Awesome! Glad to hear!!!!
I will always watch your videos first when a new plane comes out. You give in depth analysis that new people can use and I like that. Thank you Brian and thank you Camera Crew for Rockin this video 😎👍
Thanks Paul! More coming too ;) Keep an eye out soon...three "early releases" in the next month or less...
I agree ;)
@Joseph Wade Very different planes, but all good.
Thank you for your videos, humor, and positivity Brian. Assembling my Turbo Timber Evolution right now with help from your video in between carbon cub S2 flights!
You're welcome, and GOOD LUCK!!!
I have this plane. absolutely AWESOME ! we can take off in 1.50m ( 5 feets ), on road, grass, snow, everywhere. I like it. HI from France
Very nice!
Thanks Jeff! Don't worry, there's LOADS more coming soon, and we'll be here to help you pick between the plethora!
I bought my first turbo timber on your recommendation, and used it as my trainer, 100+ flights now, and have since purchased the the air tractor as my first low wing plane, but I am impressed enough with this to purchase a second because it's great fun, this time without the slats fitted ;)
AWESOME! So glad you have found success! Keep at it Martin!
Just picked this up today. Like always your videos are a gift to us hobby people horizon had a bulletin for the Avian ESC prone to over heating above 87 degrees. the fix to that is to slide the ESC to the nose of the plane underneath the battery tray.
As per directions of horizon hobby
I saw that a couple weeks ago...unfortunately this came out WELL after we put up this video.
It has ALL the upgrades we always wanted! Yeah!
Totally agree!!!
Hello Brian Phillips just curious, what do you do with all the planes you acquire after testing them? Any chance you might sell them?

@@BrianPhillipsRC would you choose the radio master tx16s or the nx10? I've heard rave reviews on the radiomaster
Glad you're here with us! You're right that Fixed wing is a different animal - a fun and amazing animal!!!
AWESOME!
We try HARD to give this very crucial advice, even though it can be painful to follow this advice as a new RC pilot ;)
Thanks for the kind words, and we're very glad you're here with us.
I know this sounds crazy, but believe me, you'll eventually "GET IT" - and then you can say - WOW - you're like a fortune teller BrianPhillips ;) LOL

NICE!!! Good for you - I've been in that situation more than once ;)
Cheers.
WOW - that's a bad fitment issue. Surprised HH would have let that one slip by. Glad you got it sorted out, but sounds like a Dynam issue!!!
Congratulations Brian, you deserve those 100K subscribers, your videos are good, I enjoy watching your videos, you are a really good RC pilot, also your wife and you, form one of the best video teams, she is the best filming your videos. That Turbo Timber is gorgeous!
Thank you very much! We're glad to have you here with us!
Good luck!
Thank God I've been waiting for this plane for YEARS
LOL ;)
I don't disagree with you on the prop. Last would be wiser.
Brian,
Excellant build info and fly, but then you always do. I purchased this plane a few months ago. Not flown it yet. Thank you for your efforts and demo. Thanks to your wife. Good ones are hard to find. I found one too.
Thanks Carl, and appreciate your kind words!!!
"Horizon: Please label your sacks!!!!!" YEEEEEEEEESSSSS! Very true Brian!!!! Thanks for helping us to put the right screws into the right holes.... ;)
It is very good - you'll love it!

Wonderful! Glad the video was helpful. We have THOUSANDS more for you, where that came from ;) Hope you'll check them out as needed!
Our pleasure! We're glad we can help! Thanks, and good luck with this wonderful plane!
thanks for the video. Just bought a Timber(not a turbo) but your video shows me I made a good choice. Not a novice but been away from the sport for awhile and want to fly again.
We also have a TIMBER video too ;) We actually loved the "Regualar" 1.5m timber.
You both do an awesome job and apart from being entertained- I learn heaps from every vid- Thanks guys!!
Awesome! Thank you! Glad you're here with us Neil!
Excellent video - nice with the sunset and full moon. Looks like a worthy upgrade from the “old” Turbo Timber. Great piloting & photography as always!
Thanks Jeffrey!
Yup I'm getting a one of the timbers in the series. I have the 800 draco and I love it. I like the STOL high wing flight characteristics
Enjoy!
Thanks Brian. Now if only we could get Horizon Hobby to come up with a removable slat design, we could have the best of both worlds. Love your TH-cam Channel. Always very detail oriented and very informative.
I want Active Slats...not just removable ;)

Bought this plane based on your video..gotta say I love it! Keep the awesome content coming.
Will do. Thanks Andre! This plane is just an amazing choice, but to be fair, there's just so many good ones right now, it's pretty hard to choose!!!
Congrats on 100K! I need to either sell or wreck a couple planes so I can make room for one of these, always wanted a Timber for a float plane but now it's much better with that top hatch!
Totally! It's great, and now with easier to remove top wing, it'll store better too!
Well it’s been a long time coming.... but my timber EvO just shipped today!!! can’t wait, You mine I will be watching your video on this about a dozen times in the very near future!!!
Have fun! You will LOVE IT!!!
The Reversing will be "optional" and you have to turn it on, since they're concerned someone may accidentally hurt themselves.
Sounds great! Glad you got that sorted out easy enough. What a plane!

I actually also have a Draco on order, but it's been about two months and I'm still waiting. If I get this one first (which is probably likely!) then it'll be a good trainer for the Draco anyway.
True, and when you get the Draco, it'll be amazing too ;)

So glad you'll be able to experience is in all it's true colors ;) P.S. I like the fuse paint job better too!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes me too but im not going to install the wing foil slats cause it slow down the roll rate considerably.

It's a lot of time, but you'll only need to watch a few of them and you'll be well on your way to doing it without my help ;)
As for Expo...I don't think I changed it after maiden.
Thank you for all the information you provide to us new rc pilots. I plan to order through your links.
Brian another way to take of the problem you had with landing gear on Turbo Timber Evolution, is to get a triangular model file
then cut a groove the length of the screw on two or three sides then put the screw in the hole turn it back and forth going deeper
as you go. Try it next time you have a screw that starts but does not go all the way.
Like a bottom tap? Good idea!
HA HA Camera Crew said outta the flaps that was spot on .....
Nice! She's on it!
A set screw would have been about 100X better, then they would clear the DuBro tires when people add them too ;)
A year later, the nutsaks are not labeled, and the same landing gear hole has a burr in it.
Thank you for the video Brian!🤣
LOL - Gotta love it ;)
Yay for top feed! Awesome speed control and receiver. Totally worth the 300 bucks. I sure hope the landing gear is stronger.
They say it is....now we wait and see ;)
Right the landing gear always cracked or broke, so sick of the timbers for this. I love my maule heavy duty!!

Everything in the Timber we want and top loading!
Absolutely!
TRUE, good point. I know what you're talking about...the plunger pin ;) I use it too, but forget it's there many times LOL!

That stand is gonna be nice.

Do you think this could be a first plane?
@@orckiller91 I personally wouldn't tell someone to start with this plane. Although it is awesome and it has safe which is self leveling. I would go with something like the AeroScout. It's cheaper and you can get the Ready To Fly version. I would definitely suggest getting a lot of practice on a simulator. Have you flown any at all ???
@@EJ-74 I used to fly helis so yes? But planes I’ve only flown in sims. I’m also toying with a valiant
Maybe they needed to watch our video first - LOL!!!!!
It's says in the manual to go to the website
No problemo! Thanks for the catch ;)

Brian, whenever you have to cut/grind a bolt put a nut on bolt first. Grind, then when you turn the nut off the bolt the nut acts like a tap and cleans up your bolt
True!
Great info dude! You cover all the bases man, great job
Thanks!
Thanks for that Brian - you learn something new every day. Maybe you need to get yourself a cheap set of taps and dies, to finish the job the manufacturer didnt complete, shame because these models arent cheap so you shouldnt need to have to deal with this. Great channel.
LOL - I have some taps and dies, but these small sizes are admittedly difficult to get your hands on ;)
I just found 3 in a store in Little Rock, bought it because the one I ordered is on backorder till September. Sorry I wasn't able to wait after using your link to buy it. I've never flown a plane but man are you an inspiration. I'm going to get a Aeroscout RTF and get into this unless you suggest something different.
Sweet! Glad you're doing it! We're excited for you!
BTW Congrats on your first 100k subs- there will be many more!
Thanks Neil!!!
Well I own all the Timbers they made including the UMXs with the exception of the Xs. And just ordered this one ( of course) thru your Link. Yes I watched the whole dam Video.
Nice - Thank Danny!!! The calipers have been very nice too ;)
I may just have to get my first timber even though I couldn’t use the reverse... if my LHS doesn’t have one I’ll definitely use your link!
Okay, thanks. I thought I was your LHS ???? You hurt my feelings
The barrel that the landing gear mounts to has a flat spot on it where the gear mounts to. I think the barrel had to be rotated for the screws to go correctly.
True
Brian watching you fly I pickup on things, like when your right wing hits the ground its when you use reverse thrust at high rpm,
if you use reverse thrust giving low power slowly increasing power, I think in would look more to scale.
okay
About time that you updated your radio I just put in the part number and the radio loads the model in cluding all the settings and now have the Qwerty board which is also in the update.
I wish it was QWERTY...it's just a map of a keyboard ;( I already turned that feature off!!! I HATE THAT PART...
Rest of the update was super easy, and painless ;)
I think this video is a few weeks older than you might realize - this can be true of the "ear;y releases"....sorry for the confusion this might cause ;)
Ty. This is QUALITY content.
Thanks ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC I'm back into the hobby after a ten year hiatus, I was able to use my dx6 pretty easily but this damn ass nx6 is so advanced as far as features that I'm really struggling. Not to mention everything I buy seems to have faults. My timber evo had all the same unbox issues as yours, plus a damaged wintip and an elevator servo that completely was frozen
