Super excited about this plane as a BNF with an Avian. I was absolutely ready to just order the old one and with an Avian 60... but this one's got a 70 Amp Avian?!? Oh yeah!! Can't wait to sleep on the couch for a few days after my camera crew sees the CC bill next month... totally worth it 😊 Great video, as always! Nice nail color Camera Crew 👍
The old one doesn't have an Avian, not even Avian lite. So, no thrust reverse on that one. But Brian said it right: on this plane you do not really need it. And the turning radius is very small, too.
Just remember the elevator, can be a problem, because, if it is in the wrong placement, you will not take off, and or not be able to land, the instructions do not tell you, but there is marks at the back of the plane to set the elevator, you have to look for them on both sides, and once you get that it is amazing, I love the new look. We love BPRC.
Another great video! I thought of a new drinking game, every time Brian removes the canopy take a drink. And every time Brian puts the canopy back on, you guessed it, take a drink. Would be feeling pretty good after this latest installment. Thank you Brian and camera crew for all you do!
Hi Brian... Me again! I'd like to say that you make very educational videos. I can learn a lot from them. Here in Brazil, the modeling hobby in general is very expensive and we have to find our way to practice RC modeling here. Sometimes I make my own planes and I love to do that. I hope to visit your country one day and maybe fly one of those models that you present in your videos. God bless you! I see you around!
Great video Brian, as always. It's a shame that E Flite didn't use a metal geared servo for the rudder/ nose steering gear. I have manage to strip out the rudder servo a fews times on my cherokee ,and I've now swopped out the a330r servo for a metal gear servo with no issues. I'm down here in New Zealand and I'm addicted to this hobby. I have learned almost everything in this hobby from watching your channel. Huge thanks to you guys for all your help in learning build, set up and fly these things.😀
Brian, I am just getting into the Hobby and can’t thank you enough for your time and effort spent on all of these videos (and thanks to your wife too) !!! These videos have helped me tremendously, keep up the awesome work. I look forward to watching the next plane build and catching up on all your other plane builds and maiden flights! God Bless!!
Awesome! Thank you! Drones are fun too, but fixed wing is where it's at for me, and heli's are a close second. I think drones are fun, but they all end up being so similar, both in looks and flight performance that I just don't get the thrill I once did....but to all their own! Thanks!
Amazing I painted my original Cherokee in the Rothmans scheme almost identical but I made mine an Arrow with an extra cabin window and exhaust - love that they re released this it was too good to be old stock
Brian love the videos I have for years. Why is it in all this time you don't put all the tiny bits on a white dish or paper plate or the lid of a fruit cake container 😅. Thanks for all the fun. Congrats on the pond. Blessings.
I friggin love that separate trim dealio! My elevator correction is quite a bit different in SAFE vs AS3X modes. Separate trims will help me counteract that, hopefully. Time to slap a couple 4s 2200's on the old s155 and eff up a perfectly good, spectrum/Avian upgraded FMS Maule!!! ( because that's what usually happens when I get a "good" idea for my planes 😂) 👍
Just bought this plane and getting it ready to fly. Two comments where the instruction manual is incorrect: (1) Page three under "Recommended Equipment" it lists "Transmitter" as "NX8 8 Ch DSMX Only (SPMR8200). As an option it lists "SPMR 10100 NX10 10-Channel DSMX Transmitter." While you can certainly use an NX 8 or an NX 10, you can use any full-range 5-6 channel Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 compatible transmitter. In fact, to add to the confusion, pages 4-5 of the manual gives instructions for NX, DX, and iX Series transmitters. (2) The transmitter set-up instructions on pages 4-5 of the manual direct you to set "Wing: Normal; Tail: Normal for the Aircraft Type. No -- the wing should be 1 aileron/1 flap. If you follow the manual and select wing "normal" you will never be able to set up the flaps under the function list. Hopefully, Horizon Hobby will correct these errors both in future print versions of the plane's manual and the digital version. I know you generally don't like to use manuals for set-ups/unboxings, but where the aircraft's manual is so wrong, it would be worth pointing out to your viewers.
Just got mine today. It built quick. Only problem was they rolled the manual. A fold could be fixed but ROLLED ??? I also got a NX 8+ , they were out of stock on the nx 10. They changed some of the menus and I was not able to follow your setup. I went to bind the radio and my but the cherokee connector will not fit my xt60 batteries,, It has been a frustrating day. The manual for the transmitter does not match with the radio. The learning curve is high. If I can't figure it out soon, it gets shipped back.
It takes more than one try to get this stuff right! I worked for YEARS to get to where I really "knew what I was talking about", so don't feel bad...but also don't expect you're something special - YOU TOO WILL STRUGGLE - this is normal! If it were easy, everyone would do it, but you have to stick with it! Part of the reason this hobby is so REWARDING, is that it's NOT EASY. Also, I get that you have to pick what's available (in stock) and also get that you might want to get a different battery than we recommended, but when that happens, WHY ARE YOU SURPRISED??? There's many, many reasons we make recommendations. If you're brand new, or just getting BACK to the hobby, you're gonna have to be in "lock step" for a few tries, if you want these things to go as smooth as possible. This shouldn't be a stretch for someone flying planes. It's NOT easy. SAFE and AS3X help making the process of flying EASIER, but it's still not EASY to learn to fly. The process is hard, and that's why it's so dang cool when you GET IT! Menus are always changing. This is continue to be a challenge, so while I empathize with you, and it is ANNOYING, you will be able to make it work. Follow along for a while (a few series of builds and flights), and you'll start to pick up on all these nuances. The odds of success are most definitionally not insurmountable - You CAN do it.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I finally got the radio set up for throttle cut, flaps, and all control surfaces. Not able to set up the dual, expo. I can set one but not more than that. The flight mode works, but can't get the voice to work. Spoken setting is missing in the menu. At this point it would fly, but would be nice to have more control. Thanks for your help. It did bind ok.
Brian am buying same model used needs reparation... It comes with new parts i am thinking of repairing the existing fuselage while I get to grips with it and I'll have a brand new fuselage and wings once I am confident enough to progress my skill level ....
Hi Brian. I'm having some trouble setting up the Reverse Thrust. The 4th wire (yellow) from the receiver to the ESC is not connected anywhere. WIthout it connected to the receiver I'm being told that RT won't work. Did I miss where you connected that? Ch 5 on the receiver has the power for the lights on my Cherokee. Do I need a Y servo connection so I can plug in the yellow signal wire and the power for the lights? And I'm using an EdgeTx radio, Boxer.
I've been thinking of a Cherokee for spring but after seeing this beauty, I preordered on today viva your link! Any idea when HH will be shipping the preorders?? Keep up the great video's they are full of what people need to know!
Hi Brian, in the beginning of the Video, you mentioned issues with the front gear on the old version of the Cherokee and wanted to pick up on this later, but forgot. What would this be? As the design of the plane seems 100% the same like the predecessor, I assume the front gear is as well, is it? (And yes, the "backlight" on the rudder is fake and the same like on the old version, too. I guess they did it for the sake of scale and didn't energize it to cut down costs and possibly error-prone feeding wires through a pinch hinge)
yeah, that white light is just decorations - which is a bummer, but somewhat understandable given the thickness of the rudder...might be a bit too much for the hinge design. I REALLY like rear facing white lights like that. Now there's a spot ripe for the picking ;) Also, there's already a light up on the top of the vertical stab, so it'd be fairly easy to do it....but like I said, wonder if the QA team was like - "NO, we can't risk having a wire there that might cause issues on a primary control surface for an accessory" - well, won't stop us ;)
Seems that red, blue, orange&yellow are the primary colors but I would like to see other liveries in the future like you mentioned. And I enjoy the annoying intros thats what separates you from everyone. Thanks for the videos.
You must have ordered the PNP (Plug and Play) version that doesn't include a receiver. If you want the receiver included, you want to look for the BNF (Bind and Fly) option.
@ took it back to the hobby shop and the guy helped me out gave me the receiver for the price difference of the other plane 30$ and programmed it for me helped me out with binding it and everything
Nearly spring?!? You must live somewhere way nicer than us! It's only mid-January in the video, and to the Camera Crew's defense, there's planes in the way (of everything) ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC I'm in the UK, surely your spring flowers have started to come up? I wondered if perhaps the tree was there to perhaps hide a few of the planes, although that wouldnt work with the Carbon Z Cessna :-)
