I have a story for your dad,I heard of a man from the Midlands who bought a right good sheep dog in connemara ,he was trained and was excellent,he brought him home and the dog wouldn't do a thing,he was useless, but the problem was the dog didn't understand English he was trained in Irish, the previous owner only spoke Irish.
Good man Glyn another good one,I'll have to get rid of the sucklers and go into the sheep 😂😂,good to see you making much needed improvements for yourselves despite the costs, pups are flying it
This is actually true as far as I know. Something is saying to me it was back Leenaun it was bought but not fully sure. I have known a few dogs like that and I actually had the pleasure of meeting a dog back in the hills of Connemara that only understood Swahili 😂😂😂😂 I can't for the life of me remember now how to say it, but her owner had to teach me how to call her in Swahili 😂😂😂
With the amount of rain we get now, tiss great plan to have covered handling area. Anything to make life easier for you both and the stock, be money well spent!!

I could listen to your Dad all day and all night. He is an absolute legend. Good luck with the new building. Money well spent!!!. I think Adrian has 5 daughters but two of them are very young. 😅
Hello lads best of luck with new building project it will make life easier, love all the stories, videos are very enjoyable to watch, from Johnny in Galway here
So enjoy your dad's recollections from years past! I think one of the pups could be named Oreo. They are so cute! Your building will be a wonderful addition to your farm.❤
As a farmer you can’t be spending all your time watching TH-cam but another channel that my wife and I like is Sheep School , like Adrian he’s good at fixing stuff. We enjoy your channel and your Dad telling his stories is a good way of keeping history alive 🇬🇧
Classic farm vehicle windshield! Do you get deer on the property? Your puppies look in great condition! The best food for your puppies is to soak puppy kibble in hot water, then once it's soft, blend it into a slurry so they can lap it up. Cow milk will give them diarrhea, which you might not notice if Sally's keeping them really clean, goat milk is great for them, or sheep milk. Eventually you can just soak the puppy kibble and feed it once it is soft and at 5-6 weeks try the kibble dry, if it is a small kibble. It's best for the puppies if they stay on the farm until 8 weeks, so they can learn proper dog communication/interaction skills from Sally and if you have another dog who is kind, they should spend some time with it as well, supervides. If the puppies are rowdy and that dog gives a gentle correction, that's what they need to learn skills to properly interact with other dogs.. At 6 weeks if the weather's nice, you can take them for short walks in the pasture. The more people who come to cuddle them, the better. I'll name drop you on someof my favorite youtube sites. Maybe if your followers do the same we can help build your channel.
Hi Glyn, thanks for the update on building the road and updating your operation. I hope that you sold more sheep this week for the 114 and less at the lower price last week of 92. Enjoyed your dad's story about the very strong lady and the guy that was looking for the nude beaches. I guess your dad's quick wit kept his life very interesting. Thanks for the update footage of the puppies they seem to be active and developing nicely. Try to leave the puppies for at least 8 weeks with the mother as taking them away too early is not good for their development.
Good video again showing improvements on your farm.We have a half circular pen in sheep pens and concreted footbath.Crushed weetabix and lambs milk we found pups thrive and feed the bitch meat and dry food.Very wet here in North Wales 🏴 also with wet grass.
Great video lads. The new handling facility and roadway will be a great addition. Still laughing at your Dads canvassing story 😂. Pups looking great. Nice to give a plug to Adrian and Karen. Lovely videos like your own. Keep up the good work 👍
I love listening to your dad’s stories but I’m glad you put subtitles because I understand what you are saying but I struggle when your dad is talking bless him, thank you 😊
Great video Gyln ah your Dad can tell a story he’s some man 🤣 I wish you both well in your new sheep facilities that will make life easier and hi I would love all them puppies but it’s a bit far to send them out to OZ 😜🤣👌
In Canada and USA some farmers have gone to selling direct to customers to remove the auction volatility. It's a lot of work to promote your own product, but might be something to consider. I have no idea if Ireland law permits such selling if slaughtered and butchered/wrapped at an approved facility. Good luck with all the renovations!
Thanks so much, Ya we can sell from home, I sold 500 lambs this year from home. Great success, appreciate the comment and thanks hope it goes well for us
Great pups used to feed with porridge and milk later on tin.puppy feed. The best sheep system I worked was on a gentle slope as sheep work better running uphill. No struggling with sheep in flat pens and stays drier.

Fairplay to both of ye for sticking at it. Half the reason I got out of sheep was the hoors would die on you no mater what you done for them. The Final straw for me came was when one sheep killed her own lamb and the adopted lamb after a week spent adopting them, then got mastitis herself. Can still see the evil head on her! I enjoy the videos and appreciate the hard work ye do.
When we have a litter of pups, when they get to 3 weeks they get fresh cows milk and Weetabix mixed together warm, they get that till about 5 weeks old then they go onto puppy meat with meat...

have a look on youtube for Kiwi Farmer - he has a covered handling system with outside fenced yards to keep costs down. Alister is in NZ has a selection of Te Pari equipment- the new Te Pari tailing system in the last couple of vlogs was interesting - have you made space for the truck that comes to dip the sheep? - good prices at the mart congratulations
Another fab video, Glyn👍. I got a great laugh at your father's story about the strong woman; priceless😭👍. Welpi is the puppy milk Vets sell, but it's very expensive. We've always used lamlac, or calves' milk, so long as there's no yoghurt in it. Thicken it with readybrek and chappie tinned dog food. Beta puppy is an excellent complete puppy kibble. Your new road/build looks fab. Perhaps a parallel fence down to the back of the build with the boundary for yarding the sheep. Sometimes, as you'll know, they can be hellish to force downhill into a corner and turn back at you. We make the "entry fee" fences wide at the top and funneling narrow , sort of thing and a gate halfway to stop breakbacks. If they think they're escaping, they pen easier. Cracking pups, beautiful and well done to👌. Try the lambs milk, I have manys a litter, but not too strong. Dùrachdan 👍
You're welcome, my friend. Weetabix very good for getting them going, I use it as well👍. Lamb's milk, made weaker than for a new lamb, is very good and more suitable for pups than the cow's milk that we drink ourselves. It's seemingly closer than calf's powdered milk to the bitch's own milk, but powdered calf's milk is fine. Just strong enough so they don't scour and it'll take the burden off Sally ,who's making a grand job of them💪. Smashed up , good tinned puppy food, like chappie, in the warm milk. Beeta puppy is a very good puppy kibble and get them on that , even softened, as soon as they can go it. Sally is a keen, helpful bitch that is so willing; I wish I had her here , myself. I'm sure Paddy Fanning of Churchmount Sheepdogs would keep you in the know of a good hill dog to be putting her to. She's so willing and in no way sour, which means a hellova lot. It's a long while since I've had a bitch so willing.👌💪
We were selling our lambs in august and September and recon our lambs were £20 down on where they should have been. Sold lambs mid and late October and very happy with prices. Just goes to show spread your sales out and you should average a decent price 🤞🤞
Awesome video Glyn That new shed and handling system should make life a lot easier for you You're father's story was something else Jesus's that gave me some laugh 😂😂😂😂 Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
Great to see the pup care, Sally would be all skin and bone without your help. I would like to see how you get the slurry out from under the slats. If I had my time over, I would have gone for slats. Dad will be a redundant shedding gate with the new set up. It certainly makes life easier with a handling system. I found the forcing ring very helpful.
Another great video. Plenty happening this week! Pups coming on well, we always fed them milk from the cows as it is quality stuff to put fat on them an help them grow.
Hi Kyle, I was just reading that sheep prices here have fallen through the floor. There was good rain fall over the last few years so farmers boosted numbers, there are 79.000.000 sheep in Australia. Fresh young sheep selling for about thirty dollars, older sheep for as little as a dollar. But that's the way it goes by times it's either feast or famine. I remember years ago I used to bring cattle to the mart in Delvin I'd be hoping, and praying for a good sale. Does your father remember the fair days before the marts? 30 degrees here today, just nice. When is your father doing his quad driving test? Stay warm for the winter. Oh by the way does your father sing a song or two?
No doesn't sing.. not sure when we are doing the test yet, 30 degrees, aren't you lucky. Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the time to leave a comment

ive a batch of 70 ewe lambs i was looking to hold on to for breeding next year, grass at the minute is getting tight and want to keep what i have for a batch of hoggets, how do you think they would do in the shed on slats? thanks,
yeah have slats to put them on, just a bit short on grass this year with the wet weather we had, have plenty of silage too which is a bonus. @@sheepshepherd
Amazing to think you could have bought bought 100 lambs at 92 euro one week (€920) and sell them the next week for 117 euro and make €250 and only be out the price of desiel and a bit of grass they are

Dùrachdan 👍
Cheers John we might try that. They are eating some weatabix in milk. What's that like for them?
Ya we have a professional coming out to design it now for us so he will have a few options..
Thanks so much for the information. Really appreciate it
We were selling our lambs in august and September and recon our lambs were £20 down on where they should have been. Sold lambs mid and late October and very happy with prices. Just goes to show spread your sales out and you should average a decent price 🤞🤞
Exactly.. its dangerous when you carry big numbers in on the same sale. Jesus it's hard to get it right. Appreciate the comment
The Irish farmer is good too. Deserves a mention and his from Kerry
Ya he is tbf, another good kerry man👍
That pup would do well at the pub 😂👍🏻
Seany 😂😂 you wouldn't want to be on rounds with him haha. Break ya
Awesome video Glyn That new shed and handling system should make life a lot easier for you You're father's story was something else Jesus's that gave me some laugh 😂😂😂😂

It would be hell on earth to live the life of a sheep!😥
🙁. Bless them all!
Best farming channel on the web. Hilarious story on canvassing.
Glad you enjoy it, and thanks for that kind message. Keep them coming
Slurry be put on in March.. appreciate the comment again.
Can't wait for the new setup. We will all be grateful
Great video
Thanks for the visit and glad you like it. Appreciate the comment
Another great video. Plenty happening this week! Pups coming on well, we always fed them milk from the cows as it is quality stuff to put fat on them an help them grow.
Cheers Robert, appreciate the comment. Ya a lot happening aright, looking forward to it👍👍
Hi Kyle, I was just reading that sheep prices here have fallen through the floor. There was good rain fall over the last few years so farmers boosted numbers, there are 79.000.000
sheep in Australia.

Great content. Love the videos and seeing the way you and your father work. And the true way of working sheep, language and all 🤣 Showing the true workings of sheep farming. It's not always easy. Good luck with the shed. Hope you get it to work to suit the existing shed. Can help with a few ideas if you'd like

ive a batch of 70 ewe lambs i was looking to hold on to for breeding next year, grass at the minute is getting tight and want to keep what i have for a batch of hoggets, how do you think they would do in the shed on slats? thanks,
They would do fine, it's the cost to feed them. What option have ya.
Slats is a better job than straw beds
yeah have slats to put them on, just a bit short on grass this year with the wet weather we had, have plenty of silage too which is a bonus.
@@sheepshepherd
@@GarethMcCoy ya feed away sillage. They be grand . Maybe check the quality of it. Get it tested. They need protein to grow
Amazing to think you could have bought bought 100 lambs at 92 euro one week (€920) and sell them the next week for 117 euro and make €250 and only be out the price of desiel and a bit of grass they are
Ya fair madness. Its hard to get it right, sure we can only try our best.

Nice one
Why don't ye sell to the factory
We do sometimes, but costs too much to feed them sometimes. Not worth it. These were the smallest of the lambs
The pups are old enough to give them wet food. Worm weekly if you can. That way they will thrive when they are ready to place at 8 weeks.
appreciate the comment. Thanks for that helpful information. We will do that

Goats milk is good , just no cows milk or they’ll get the runs.
Soak puppy nuts in warm water and make it mush is the best way to get them eating solids
