Glyn, I used to put a shovel of sawdust in the pens first. Good for absorption and easier to sweep out .I alway love to get a glimpse of Charlie. I bet he has a very shiny coat right now. Baaa Baaa I think you might be turning into a sheep. I love your attention to detail.
Jesus Glynn, such a massive amount of lambs. You are a very caring farmer and it’s wonderful to see how much you look after your sheep and lambs. A bit of craic with your dad is always good and he is good to have around helping with the tiny ones. I hope the weather has turned for all of you and things will get easier stunning scenery. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Feeding colostrum to cold lambs is counterproductive. If you can get dextrose and give 5% dextrose subcutaneous (10ml/kg) and then put the lamb in a hot box, then give colostrum once they are back to normal temperature, you'll save more lambs. I completely understand your description of the stiff lamb. I twice had to lamb in the middle of winter because the neighbor caught my ram pasture fence with their equipment. Had many lambs at -25C to -40C and never lost one; using a hot box, dextrose and lamb kick start.
I see videos with frustrations about bad weather and lambs that can't handle being wet and cold and the lack of space for lame boxes. I got an idea for a relatively cheap way to make more boxes in the former silage driving silo. The ceiling is high. It gives the possibility to make an interposed floor separation on some columns, HEB iron beams and a floor in waterproof plywood or concrete. I have been construction manager at a multi-storey residential building, where the entire floor separation was made with large-profile trapezoidal steel plates, lying on HEB steel beams, with reinforced insitu cast concrete. It will be possible to make it with a relatively aggressive environmental strength, low weight per square meters. My knowledge of agricultural employees, you probably have to dimension the floor separation for high weight, because the lovely space may soon have another use, for example straw storage. A ramp can be made up along the wall into the stable, to the new inserted deck. In principle, the deck can go over to the outer wall, so there can be some square meters. I don't have an exact sense of how high it is, but a thought/idea.
❤ the videos don’t know anything about sheep We had a small dairy farm The scenery is beautiful Your da is charming reminds me of our visit to Ireland when we were kids Stay well family is everything
Everyone will be glad to see the back of this lambing forsure. Still not fantastic weather in Scotland but a bit less rain . Iv 30 gimmers left , ewes all done but will be less lmbs down to perished in the weather 3 weeks ago.
Welcome back my friend .. and as always beautiful sharing adventure documentary updated resume countryside content video and you doing such an amazing job .. appreciated your efforts and hard work for sharing your beautiful sharing adventure lifestyle over there and thanks again from Montreal QC Canada
Well done Glyn and John any chance the suckler farmer building the house would do a video with ye boys and show us the cows and Calfs. When ye have time Any way thanks again your video’s are always interesting and the boss man’s stories are great He should have been on RTE 4o years ago instead of them gobshites on ear to the ground God bless the work
It's tough going surely.. it's great to see what goes on 'behind the scenes' raising sheep😊 ye got the lovely helmets with the quad, old habits die hard i suppose off down the lane without even a wooly hat😉😇😊 stay safe lads, thank you for the videos❤
One thing I noticed lambing ewe Hoggs is if they lambed themselves they took the lambs well and bonded but a few that I pull don’t take to the lamb so I tend to let them lamb on their own if can now.
Be nice to your dad. 😊 he’s still getting used to this video and open mic thing. 😂 I’m in Houston Texas and keeping an eye on the weather in Kerry as of I’m going through this lambing with you. My husband thinks I’m crazy. I’m glad the weather has gotten better. What is the state of repairs to the damage or, have you even started it yet?
1:44 your dad gave whisky and electrolyte? Haha is that instead of glycol? I've seen sandi brock inject dextrose under the lamb skin when they are to cold do we have the same stuff in uk/Ireland available?
How's yer dad feeling about the milage now? Does he want to cut it now? Milage is a great idea, as you are making some winter feed for the sheep during the summer. Sometimes thee sheep don't all the grass and leave a lot to waste. Cutting the milage/grass will hopefully stop that. Got my quarter Irish fingers crossed things go well.
Why dont you ear tag as well when going out glyn? 6:57 when selling/taking off land you've got to tag by law dont you? Lambing you have extra help why not use that to ear tag save a job each time you sell. With your tapari system and flock watch etc it might be more productive to tag now and put onto the system at birth and you can keep tabs on who is the parent for further breeding
when i was young and you gave a lamb a whiskey wake up. it was one of the three ps either powers paddy or poteen and we all know whitch was the best for the lamb
Your working hard boys. And girlls. I'm wondering if you are seeing many of these ewes with lack of milk? I've had ewes this year with lack of milk but an udder. I've had to top up the lambs I could to get them through. Then things improve. But I've had a couple of ewes with a full bag , didn't look like mastitis but no milk. I'm putting it down to weather, cold easterlies and heavy rain. That's lambnng for you. Hope you get a rest after this.
That sounds like OPP, sometimes the only symptom is what we term hardbag....full udder little to no milk. Very infectious disease, ewes are culled. You can blood test to confirm.

Good and informative video, but ooh motion sickness the camera swinging back and fore too fast! But still enjoy them and the banter😂

that wont be touched for a long time untill lamb sales come in😅
Great to hear you are tuning in 👍👍
your a great man it has been so hard on you all i wish you the best
What about putting sanitation powder down between each use of the pens - works well where Ive seen it.
ya we are doing that in every pen
I find the warming box can bring lambs back from being frozen solid,
ya very true
1:44 your dad gave whisky and electrolyte? Haha is that instead of glycol? I've seen sandi brock inject dextrose under the lamb skin when they are to cold do we have the same stuff in uk/Ireland available?
no we don't thats the problem
Powerful stuff. 💪💪 Well done 🐑🐑🐏🐏
Appreciate the comment and glad you like the video👍👍

no he wants to put sheep in there.
not a fan of cows
What happened to the heifers you bought
Was wondering the same
they'll be here next week
Lambing is now going well after the bad weather.
ya but the damage has been done

no never tagging again at birth, caused alot of joint ill.
Does whiskey work for real? It’s a blood thinner?
sometimes
when i was young and you gave a lamb a whiskey wake up. it was one of the three ps either powers paddy or poteen and we all know whitch was the best for the lamb
Weirdly in America lots of goat breeder use chilli/cayenne pepper to wake up the babies
Where the heck are you able to get all the help from ...
😅😅 they love to flock here
Can’t bate a good Westmeath man 👍
Im new to your channel how many do you.lamb
950. great to hear, hope you enjoy thw videos
Why give the lambs spot on when going out
You should find those mules the best thing you ever had
ya delighted with them
We take our làmbs inside and put them in one of the agor compartment fine and warm

ya a lot of people are. we feed our ewes well with a 21% nut so we are not finding it so bad
Good
What the spot on the lamb s for
ticks
We dose our ewes before we put them out buys a bit oh time
You are a big enough bear its suck suck in England for sheep to come for feed
Your animal noises needs some practice baaaaaa!! 😂
🤣🤣
A drop of poteen is better
ya we were out😅
