Man, I really like watching these old "Satellite feed" races you post 💪 Love listening to Ned, BP, Dr JP & Bob during the commercial breaks. Most of all, I loved My Driver get'n it done at Watkins Glen! 🤑 Thanks for posting it!
So I used to really not like Bob Jenkins, there was something about his style of commentary that always put me off a bit. But being able to hear everybody talking "off-air" during the commercial breaks in these satellite-feed races you've been putting up has really given me a new appreciation for how much Bob (and the others) worked to paint as good a picture for us as possible. I actually really like Bob Jenkins now and I mostly have you to thank. Side note: the exchange starting at 1:17:40 (especially the banter between Bob and Benny) is absolutely priceless.
Bob Jenkins was my favorite part of ESPN back in the day so consistent. Ideal straight man but was so knowledgeable about racing and always smart enough to let BP, Ned or someone on pit road do the explaining. Ideal coordination.
@@oldmateseany6814 exactly the reason why, McDuffie's fatal accident was the most significant reason why it was installed. When Mcduffie crashed, his car went into the outside wall at turn 5 at barely abated speed (the loss of his front wheel cost him a chance to scrub off speed before impact). The installation of the chicane meant that in a similar situation, the car would scrub off speed earlier
Just looked it up out of curiosity and Elmira-Corning (the closest airport to Watkins Glen) is about 35 minutes away from downtown, so odds are pretty good Bob Jenkins had to catch a later flight.
1:07 race start 20:55 hmm 24:37 first caution 33:15 second green flag 55:11 second caution 1:09:00 third green flag 1:13:10 third caution 1:28:30 the race was stopped!
Yep! For all the crap the younger (& some of the older ones) fan's like to sling at KP, saying that driver's like He (& later Dale Jr) wasn't any good, that He was only in the seat because of his Famous Father, well I say this... Kyle Petty won a race on every kind of track Nascar raced on, on a short track, on a mile oval, on a mile & a half, on Super-Speedways he always ran strong starting in the 90's, on the Road-course here & of course, he won the ARCA Daytona race, in his FIRST RACE EVER, IN ANYTHING! So I'd say Ol' Mr The King's Young'n done good! 💪🤠👍!!

smooth and affable, man. smooth and affable.
Thank you I love what you have given us. Bless your heart
I remember watching this race as a kid, and I thought that cable cam was awesome! My dad thought it was pretty cool as well.
The first NASCAR race at the Glen with the "bus stop" chicane. Too bad, tho, that it was rain-shortened.
Probably added it because of J.D McDuffie's fatal crash in 91

1:29:51 little did Kyle Petty knew that his racecar will be heading to victory lane after the race has been called the Budweiser 124.95 Mi at the glen
Beautiful!
Thanks a lot!
I was there. We spent a good part of the day trying to stay out of the rain.
20:56 - Bill Elliott goes to inside of....who?
Himself. Lol!
This is why I really miss this kind of commentary
20:55 I was about to post this. Lmao
That's just how Great Awesome Bill from Dawsonville was, he could actually pass himself if he needed to!! 😂👍
Final road race for Richard Petty. He finished 28th, 1 lap down
1:25:53 Don’t think Bob Jenkins made his Flight!

@@hrtvfan2870 Given how huge ESPN was back then I am almost sure he had a per diem for travel, or ESPN paid to rebook him.
20:55 Bill Elliot gets inside.....
1:07 race start
20:55 hmm
24:37 first caution
33:15 second green flag
55:11 second caution
1:09:00 third green flag
1:13:10 third caution
1:28:30 the race was stopped!
I think Bob meant to say Mark Martin’s name during that blooper.
@@veggieoilerfan2940 that makes sense
Don't know if anyone knows this or not but NASCAR invented the "cable cam" before the NFL
Kyle Petty won a road course race? I had no idea. Too bad this didn’t go full, I think it would have been a classic. OH for RAIN TIRES

@@Slinger43 AGREED.
Does anyone know if there's video of Greg Sack's flip in practice for this race? I'm assuming not.
Last race of number 69 with Wilson.
20:10 "wallendach-bach"
Lord Ned got his tongue tied trying to say Dallenbachs name didn't he haha
