Bob Varsha said the Toyota 2.1L four-cylinder turbo engine had as much as four times the boost in a contemporary Indycar (CART) engine. Quick research indicates that the 2.65L V8 Indy Cosworth DFX was producing somewhere near 6psi, so the Toyota engine was making as much as ~24psi of turbo boost. That was seriously incredible boost in those days!

Loved hearing David Hobbs call Halsmer "Concrete Pete" again after all these years. I have somehow remembered it all that time. Hilarious, and I also recall why he pulled that one out.

That brace that Geoff Brabham wore looks an awful lot like a HANS device, though it pre-dates the _production_ HANS devices by several years. But GTP Lights driver, designer/builder of the 'Kudzu' GTP Lights chassis, and multiple-times GTP Lights champion, Jim Downing, both funded and was instrumental in developing the HANS device. He was the first to wear one in an IMSA race, in 1986. Dr. Robert Hubbard invented the thing, and together they made it a reality. I'm guessing they lent Brabham one of their prototypes, and that's what we saw.

I attended this race, and I have to say with all humility that I would have gone there blind just to listen to the Mazda RX-792p's. Such a glorious sound!

I was also there. The Berkshire Mountains experience was special. When Davy crashed his left-handed shifting Group C car, Fangio owned the day. I think Juan might have eventually run him down anyway.
Gurney called the TWR Jaguar a Formula One car with a shell. They got around the IMSA rules to run this Group C car. This track allowed for spectacular close-up views.
Yes, those Mazdas looked and sounded great. But the exhaust ran too hot and they were plagued with mechanical gremlins. No match for the reliability and power of the Toyotas.

I am amazed and very thankful that someone has recorded and now uploaded many of these races, as I was not alive to see them the first time around. The LMPs of today just don't have the same soul. Its also great to hear David Hobbs from 25 years ago, lol

Jaguar XJR-14, is the baddest GTP car ever, I was lucky enough to see it race twice in 92, Miami grand prix, and road Atlanta

IMSA's Camel GT was a great series. I attended every Camel GT at Laguna Seca and GTP was my favorite. I love the in-car at Lime Rock back in 92.

I remember seeing this race. Brings back memories! Those late development GTP cars were utterly insane at Lime Rock. Those guys had some massive attachments.

I took my son to this race, it was the first live road course race we ever went to. I agree with everything said about the Mazda's, futuristic design, and an engine sound completely different than the rest. The Chevrolet powered car of Tommy Kendal was unique in that it had that deep throaty Chevy sound. The looks of the MOMO sponsored Porsche certainly stood out in the pack. The red and yellow paint scheme glowed. The Nissan team cars were really sharp looking as well. The cars in the other classes were gorgeous, along with the historic cars running that weekend. Memories for a lifetime, brought back up due to looking for 1/32 slot cars, which run just as insane as the 1/1 cars!

I miss GTP cars and prototypes at Lime Rock. I was there that day working my first race as a lowly Utility for ESPN in the pit lane.
