The ending of the movie gets me in tears. I don’t know if Dale had that kind of relationship with his father, but the movie director or whoever made it very believable that all Dale wanted was to be respected by his father. That was the reason why he drove the way he did in the movie. The end with him picking up child dale is one of the most hardest hitting scenes I’ve ever seen. Some people don’t get it, but for Ralph to welcome Dale to heaven in that entrance of that old out of date mill in Kannapolis…we’ll it just really shows you Ralph loved his son very much. Yes the movie skips over a lot of small and some big things in the history of Dale Earnhardt , but at the end it captures the essence of a race car driver, and the bond between a father and son, through multiple generations.
Well, the only way to really know it most of this was true is to ask people to actually knew him during his racing career or even ask jr But that will probably be impossible
Dale always spoke highly of Ralph, although he said he was tough. He mentioned how he wished he could have finished school and the race where his dad helped him. He also wished he got to race him on the top level, and said that his dad would have won. He could tell how good his dad ran by the way his car looked, how his father wasn't reckless. It would make sense that this movie would focus on this and how he became similar to Dale Jr. Jr talked about his dad in a similar fashion on his podcasts.
There's a documentary made by EmpLemon here on TH-cam. "There will be never ever another driver as Dale Earnhardt". And what Emp concluded was that the only thing Dale Sr. wanted in life, was to race against his own blood. He only wanted to race against his dad, and this is why Sr. was prouder for Jr's acommplishments, rather than anything else he did by himself.
I grew up watching this movie and the national anthem at the beginning is my favorite version because of this film. I was lucky enough to be a part of a pit crew for the IMSA Michelin Pilot Sport Challenge this year at Daytona, and hearing the national anthem from the puts of Daytona was easily one of the most powerful things I've ever heard.
I'm in this as Dale's pit crew member behind him at Herlocker's and all of a sudden looks at the director's watch I'm wearing, because I didn't wear one lol, and decideds I don't have enough time to eat. I'm also sitting with my back to him at the opposite angle when I'm not magically disappearing and reappearing behind him. My next role was Ricky Bobby's crew member and sometimes Cal. Best time on a set there.

The day sr hit the wall is when I completely stop watching NASCAR it's just not the same anymore without him rip Sr you are definitely missed by millions 😢
I used to watch NASCAR in the 90s when I was an adolescent. My heroes back in the day were: Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte, Geoff Bodine, and last, but defenetely not least.. Mark Martin! And as an honorable mention.. there would be Ron Fellows.
The day we lost Dale, I saw the crash and just said Sh,, and walked out to the shop to work on my racecar, without watching the rest of the race. About 2 hours later a friend who helps work on my car told me Dale was gone I couldn't believe it. A moment later I dropped to my knees with tears in my eyes. I couldn't help it. He was my mentor I didn't know him in person but it still felt like I lost a Brother. I've lost 3 brother's I know what it's like to lose a brother!
I was sad when Dale died, 2001 was the first year I went to the races. Every track honored Dale. Martinsville had a man dress like Dale every year I went.
this movie didnt show turn 2 and 3 1984 door to door battle dale gets pushed in the grass all the way around and comes out back on the track and door to door battle same car "who can do that" the DETERMINATOR !!

Barry pepper brought Dale Sr: back from the dead in this movie: you don’t even think it’s an actor playing him when watching this film. This movie embodies what Dale Sr was and why the fans loved him. Greatest sports movie ever made period
All he had to do was wear the HANS device. He’d still be here. How many race car drivers have to die before they realize this equipment is designed to keep you alive?
His left seat belt tore at the part where it laps thru the keeper. I doubt the HANS would have helped in that situation, but watching this makes me want to get my boys to wear them.
That was his father lifting him in to heaven. He was the best! I remember exactly where I was and who I was with when he died. Dale JR and Michael Waltrip kept the spirit alive!
We had a local driver who passed, but drove late models on dirt track (back in the day he ran dirt and blacktop) til he was 83/84 yrs old! Look him up Bud Frazier "The Legend" Atomic Raceway Chillicothe Ohio. His son, Mark, used to race until his dad passed, and he walked away from it all. There's another one in his 70s who ran until he passed away as well. When these races get it in their blood, they are there til the end.
Me and boyfriend used to watch nascar alot. Then on February 18,2001 everything changed forever. My boyfriend passed away on the 20th anniversary of dales passing
A good movie about his life, but damn that last race is still so hard to watch even 23 years later. And you know, I haven't watched a single race since February 18, 2001 and the way NASCAR today is so f-up I don't believe I ever will again.
What is this? Not your normal videos. Did you make this movie? Or did I miss something? Its like a lifetime movie or something without any description. I love the soundtrack, also Staci Compton had a brief cameo in the last scene
It was a freak injury but there was nothing "accidental" about the cause of that wreck. It's just no one wants to be the one to say it out loud out of respect for the family and Dale's legacy. Dale Earnhardt intentionally caused his own wreck so the two DEI cars that he owned, driven by Dale Jr. and Michael Waltrip would win both 1st and 2nd in the Daytona 500, no matter what. Dale knew everyone was piling up behind him ready to break the draft to make a run at the two DEI cars in the lead. I'm sure Dale thought it would just be a minor pile-up that would be bad enough to let his two cars win but not bad enough for serious injuries. I was surprised when he didn't just hop out of the car as usual and yea, if Dale Sr. lived? He would have been in a LOT of trouble with NASCAR for fixing the race outcome but no one talks about that either. 😄
For one, it's real bad to speak Ill of the dead. For two, you've never been half that fast in your life. If anything happens in your mom's basement, you could hit the floor at around 7 miles per hour. That's enough to severely hurt you, even kill you hit a stair, but nobody plans a 200 mile an hour crash because you can't.
I heard the Earnhardt family did not approve this movie and there are a lot of incorrect in it. I do really like this movie though specially Barry Pepper's portrayal of Dale Sr. The Earnhardt Enterprise should make an accurate biopic of Sr while most of the people involved are still around. Man, I remember watching that blue and yellow Chevy when I was like 6 or 7 years old just right before Sr went to the famous black Chevy #3. I'm glad there's Dale Jr that's around my age to see him race back then.
Bruh, i didnt know therr wad a movie. Life has slowed down for me, im funding all kinds of jrms like this. I just started watching and its stopped me in mybtracks to watch. My wife and i cheered in out house when Jr. Won in 200? after Dale passed. RIP Dale.
Dale Earnhardt Jr and Richard Childress both have said many times that this movie is way off base and highly INaccurate. Thought you should know. I watched this movie long before I heard/watched Dale Jr and Richard Childress bash this film. They both said many things shown in this movie did not happen anywhere near the way it really happened. Leave it to the producers of Hollyweird to take what SHOULD be an incredible true story, and screw it all up with gross fabrications.

GOAT!!!!! NO QUESTIONS ASKED. PERIOD!!!
Simply Fantastic Movie!
I have that one on DVD
I cried three times in my life My Mom ,Dad and Dale.RIP

The day we lost Dale, I saw the crash and just said Sh,, and walked out to the shop to work on my racecar, without watching the rest of the race. About 2 hours later a friend who helps work on my car told me Dale was gone I couldn't believe it. A moment later I dropped to my knees with tears in my eyes. I couldn't help it. He was my mentor I didn't know him in person but it still felt like I lost a Brother. I've lost 3 brother's I know what it's like to lose a brother!
Thank you for this. Threw you a like and a sub as gratitude!
Thanks, man. I'll keep this type stuff up as long as youtube lets me
I was sad when Dale died, 2001 was the first year I went to the races.
If youtube has demonitized you for putting up old car movies i gotta subscribe !!!! I love ole car movies !!!
thank you my friend!
You subscribing doesn’t help him. That’s what demonitized means. You have to donate to his patreon to help him
@@mycatsaliberal3848 i realized that later on .. unfortunately im unemployed /disabled trying to get some disability … im driving the struggle bus myself !!!
Barry pepper brought Dale Sr: back from the dead in this movie: you don’t even think it’s an actor playing him when watching this film. This movie embodies what Dale Sr was and why the fans loved him. Greatest sports movie ever made period
Great guy ❤
The day Nascar announced they had lost Dale Earnhardt was the day we lost Nascar .....its never been the same
True NASCAR Fans has a hero and Dale Earnhardt Sr is mine ever since I was a kid
L. O. L. I’m fairly certain the HANZ device was invented After his wreck and specifically because of His wreck.
@jonellwanger7258 the device was invented in the 1980s lol. It was out way before the wreck. Maybe do a little research before responding.
EXCELLENT FILM 10 STARS
That was his father lifting him in to heaven. He was the best! I remember exactly where I was and who I was with when he died. Dale JR and Michael Waltrip kept the spirit alive!
NASCAR is one of the those things that look boring until you learn the details. Once you learn how it works, you can get addicted to it.
To everyone saying they no longer watch Nascar. Do you believe Earnhardt would still be racing at age 72?
Yeah!!!!!😎😎😎
He wouldn't be racing, but things wouldn't have changed drastically if he were still here.
Is it bad i want a dale jr movie to explain what happened after dale sr passed away 😢
Chad McCumbee did great as Dale Jr. He ended up racing in ARCA and Nascar.
The real goat.
Take me back to the glory days when "DEI" meant Dale Earnhardt Inc....not the silly BS it means today.
Me and boyfriend used to watch nascar alot. Then on February 18,2001 everything changed forever. My boyfriend passed away on the 20th anniversary of dales passing
Great Movie, I am now watching again for my fifth time!
hopefully you're subscribed...
Your welcome
or the worst crash down the strsight end over end and no telling the rolls and he walked away !
A legend gets this!!!! WTF!!!!!
SO SAD 😔 THAT DALE EARNHARDT SR LOST HIS LIFE AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY. SO SAD 😔. SINCERELY KATHLEEN CONE APOPKA FLORIDA.
When racing was racing and not wwf entertainment
When Dale Earnhardt died. I stopped Watching nascar..😢😢😢
A good movie about his life, but damn that last race is still so hard to watch even 23 years later. And you know, I haven't watched a single race since February 18, 2001 and the way NASCAR today is so f-up I don't believe I ever will again.
I'm done with NASCAR, have been since Dale died, and l went to races for nearly 50 years!!
What is this? Not your normal videos. Did you make this movie? Or did I miss something? Its like a lifetime movie or something without any description. I love the soundtrack, also Staci Compton had a brief cameo in the last scene
This is from ESPN films.
missing dale in racecar
How'd Mikey end up with dei? If dw and dale has issues why would he go there
Not worry very hard to find out what happened it's been almost 2 months
I heard the Earnhardt family did not approve this movie and there are a lot of incorrect in it. I do really like this movie though specially Barry Pepper's portrayal of Dale Sr. The Earnhardt Enterprise should make an accurate biopic of Sr while most of the people involved are still around. Man, I remember watching that blue and yellow Chevy when I was like 6 or 7 years old just right before Sr went to the famous black Chevy #3. I'm glad there's Dale Jr that's around my age to see him race back then.
I rather be behind dale and watch him then be ahead of him and miss what he did rip dale the true king of nascar
".....Second place is First loser"....says D.E.#3
FOREVER Dale #3!!!
This feels like an unintentional comedy
