- A little water splash on the lens never hurt anything.. lol. Bill's videography skills are really becoming professional. I challenged him to shoot Pirates of the Caribbean for me so I would feel like I was there at Disneyland. This is hand held. No video lighting of course. When we got off the ride the other people were saying that they watched his camera screen because it was better than real life. Judge for yourself here. Have an awesome day, Billisa Oh. He wanted me to add that TH-cam conversion does take away some of the quality but wow. amazing work.

My favorite part is when you first walk into the building and the smell is just magical

That has to be the cleanest, clearest video of Pirates I have ever seen. If it wasn't cut in places it would be like sitting on the ride. You could almost smell the combination of bromine and new Orleans cuisine. Excellent Video!!
By the way, for anyone interested, there is a company called The Magic Candle Company that sells a candle called Pirates which replicates the smell of this ride. They also have one called Haunted which replicates... well you can figure that out.

I tried magic candle, its too clean of a ocean smell. I found ETscent's Flume candle is closer to this ride. Have you tried it?

I’m going through the comments and everyone is talking about the smell, but what about the fact that the ride goes through a restaurant , The Blue Bayou. I used to look at the people eating when I was little and get hungry
I would try to ask them to toss a breadstick or something lol. And the cool ones always went along with it and tossed it

My favorite part 2:57 Dedication and pain to hold fast in the storm even after death... it is such a small scene but so impactful even as a child.

They have only gotten smaller to me, but that's b.c I started going as a baby...
For some reason when I was 7 and went on this ride I wasn’t scared (nobody really gets scared) the drops were fun but as I got older It got worse like in December (2019) I went on it and when the drop happened I felt like I couldn’t move my body I felt horrible I felt scared my family doesn’t understand what I feel (I’m not gonna say my age cause I don’t want to but I’m older than 10)

I remember being so scared of it when I was little (I remember the lighting being darker though) and now it seems so short to me
It would be so badass if there was a kraken in the water and the boat shaking
We went to Disneyland and went on this ride and the big drop scared my little brother so much that he started yelling STOP THE RIDE! I was laughing so hard 😂🤣😂🤣😂

Two drops..and no they haven't changed them. Theybare e actly the same as they've always been. There is no height restriction for this ride.
I never get tired of this ride. It's just a masterpiece as far as rides go.
Not too thrilled about the change to the redhead character though - I mean, yeah, getting rid of the human auction was good, but couldn't they think of anything better than bartering for chickens?
I was looking for the red head and the auction. That was part of my childhood. Leave the rides as they were!
I mean... these are pirates. It'd be more immersive for them to do like, bad guy stuff. Not just sit around drinking and talking about treasure. pirates were, first and foremost, robbers thieves and murderers.
the movie tie-in stuff wasn't too bad but i think the original ride story was really good, it certainly didn't NEED to be updated but whatcha gonna do. That Jack Sparrow at the end didn't seem to animate right either.
I honestly saw no issue with auction scene, the ride is meant to be silly. I don’t know how anyone could be offended.
I miss the old escene not only it was funnier with the pirates not wanting to bid for the fat chick and the Red head girl was soooo cute.

I agree the best part of Disneyland is the magical sounds, smells and youthfulness us adults can share with our little ones. I watch my families vid from 2019 and I’m heart broken we didn’t make our trip this April. California and Disney your in my heart and prayers, can’t wait to come back April 2021.
I used to go to Disneyland all the time, I want to go a lot 😭 the smell of the rides and the park it’s self is just 😍😍😍 and it gives me such a good vibe. The last time I went was with my grandma who now has cancer:(

If you look up after launch and right in front of the seating of the Blue Bayou there will be a shooting star every few seconds on your right. I always remind my wife about it when we get on the ride.
I got to be there four times total in 2019, riding it twice both times in the park I was there each time. Quite a feat for a former SoCal resident living in Idaho now. It’s my favorite ride and it always will be.

I go to Disneyland once a year with my Family. I didn't in 2020 because of covid, which sucked. And I don't think were going in 2021. Man, I miss Disney. This is ride is special
Now living in Europe and the only pirates ride we have is the one at Disneyland Paris, I have a sudden appreciation for every single aspect of this ride

I rode this at 11:30 PM on the last day Disneyland would be open before the coronavirus thing. It was very enjoyable as I got to ride rise of the resistance and so many others.

The 4K camera is a great investment. My favorite Disneyland ride is Pirates of the Caribbean. I rode a few ride through videos on TH-cam throughout the years. This is the first time I felt like I was actually there. Thanks a million. Great Big Thunder Mountain Railroad video too.

Damnit. I'd ridden the Disney World ride a dozen or more times. And while I was at Disney Land in '88, I was 12 and don't remember the rides all that well. I had no idea there were differences like this between the two rides! We just got back from Disney World last week, and as Splash Mountain was closed, I used Pirates as my relief ride - such a fantastic experience, but now I have to get back out to California!!!

Love the addition of the new red head but the final Jack Sparrow animatronic isn't working right. It's mouth doesn't really move anymore. Repair or replace!
Floridafanatic28 My issue with this ride is being able to hear the bright, cheerful song during the cruise through the ominous caverns & graveyard of pirates past. I feel like those sections should play either the spooky version of the song, the mermaids’ song (My Jolly Sailor Bold), or nothing at all. This is one advantage the Florida version has over the California version - the tone is more consistent.
Id have to say is repair, the ride wont live without the original
ztslovebird I agree, but then again they used to play a spookier rendition from what I remember (this was all prior to 2006-2007). In fact, Florida’s version was designed to be spookier than the original.

I love the smell of this ride
I understand why some people are upset about the change to the redhead scene. When I heard about it, I was upset too. But when I actually saw her, I loved her. She has so much more personality than the old and she looks wonderful. And I LOVE how you can meet her in person in New Orleans Square now!! Still, I understand why some of you are upset. And some of you have very valid reasons. Maybe it’s just for nostalgia’s sake.
What I think is very funny, however, is people denouncing the changes in the name of “historical accuracy” or trying to hide the harsh realities of the past from children. There were female pirates throughout history, certainly! And even if there weren’t, it’s just amusing to me that people expect a history lesson in a fun musical pirate ride.

My favorite ride ....I love the clothes the history and everything about treasuresss I must have lived that once life now sucks it’s boring and humans are so fake.

My family and I created an inside joke of the dirty foot pirate hanging off of the ledge in this ride back in Walt a Disney World. I love our Disney memories
I want to tell you that at Disneyland in California that same pirate was taken down for about a month. When he was put back his foot wasn't dirty anymore. We are bummed that he isn't the dirty foot pirate here anymore.
