@@OmnipotentEntI’ve had one of those candles before. It’s been awhile since I was on the ride, but from what I remember it’s pretty accurate. It was an awesome smell too and reminded me of the sea.
I adore this ride. Now that splash is gone, this is the best ride in the park by far. It's beautiful, it's artistic, it's classic, it's new, and it's magical and piratey and adventurey and has real danger instead of attending a party like every new ride seems to be about
My first ride on the Pirates was 1974 at 6 yrs old... we lived in Garden Grove from 1972-1988. I used to go to Disneyland 6-10 times a year for many years. I remember one time when there was literally 200 people in the entire park... it was eerie but fun.
I can still see myself wearing my Pirate Princess Minnie Mouse ears in the queue right now. In fact, I miss it so much even though it was fun mesmerizing all of the people who traveled to Disneyland which is a theme park located in Anaheim, CA before COVID-19 entered the picture with multiple variants. This attraction never dies even though it saved Disneyland 57 years ago.
haha, this must be during a magic morning or something...that que is never that empty, and the boats are always bumper to bumper backed up 6 deep at the end of the ride
I found out that above the two tunnels twixt the main and show buildings were a few utility kitchen hallways for the basement kitchens. And above the said hallways is the railroad track for the D-land railroad, located in the tunnel
I can still remember going with my Girl Scout troop many years ago. In those days the line was a series of switchbacks on the eastern side of the building. I haven’t seen that area used since. Especially not since they created the wonderful crowd controlling crossover bridge that was so very needed. A godsend.
I ate that the beginning part one time when my grandpa brought my whole family to Disneyland for 4 days 😢 I miss the good old days can’t wait to go back onto this ridw
I don’t know if I’m the only one who does this every time they ride this ride, but but every single time I do get to ride this ride I always will mouth along to “Dead men tell no tales!”

Still the best ride at Disneyland, but oh, it only they'd left it alone content-wise. Before they put in Jack Sparrow there was a pirate toward the end (just before you started back up) who looked exactly like Stephen Sondheim.

@@tsitracommunications2884 For me when I rode it back in 2017the gunshots and cannons were scary since I am sensitive to loud and sudden sounds like a ballon for example
Hi, do someone know how many drops are in this ride, please? Are they scary really big drops or small ones? Im planning to take my mom for her birthday but she is 65+
There are 2 drops total, and According to Google, the 1st drop is 18ft and the second one is 13ft. Personally for me (I'm a big scaredy) the first drop is scary mostly because it's in pitch black darkness, you can't see anything, so it feels intense dropping and not seeing..but it's over quick and not anything super extreme...the second drop is visible (not in the dark) shorter and much more tolerable and more fun in my opinion. The entirety of the ride itself is just a slow boat ride and mind blowing and amazing to me because nostalgia and just getting to look at all the cool pirates and everything...it makes the drops worth it all. Even though I don't like the 1st drop, the ride is %100 worth going on and I will continue to torture myself just to be able to enjoy the rest of the ride, lol. I've gone on with 65yr old coworkers of mine who HATE anything scary, but they actually ended up loving the ride and wanting to go on again, so I guess it just all depends on each individual. I'd say definitely take your mom on it at least once, and if she doesn't like it, then you don't have to go on anymore, but at least you'll know 😊

This was likely impressive in the 1960's, but in the 2020's this is silly. Don't get me wrong, there is some nostalgia at play here, but expecting people to pay money and wait in line for this kind of nonsense is a bit much.
Even though I maybe be biased since I've been on this ride multiple times growing up but I think even after taking off the rose-tinted nostalgia glasses and seeing all the changes made to it it's still an impressive ride that's a very well themed and atmospheric way to spend 17 minutes. :)
