      Bring your cars to the dealership you bought the car from, even if the issue is minor it looks like the Honda dealerships are starting to catch on to this issue and orders for steering racks are starting to get backed up. I came in today for some maintenance and reminded them of the issue and they said 6 other civics came in for the same issue and it’s not only with civics but also with CRVs. The car should be under warranty my dealership said that if you’ve owned the car for less than 3 years/ 36,000 miles you should be covered.

    We took our 2023 CRV Sport Touring Hybrid in to the dealership for the sticking steering about a month ago . They said it sounds like steering rack issues. Said they had heard of a few with same issues. They didn’t have part in stock but said they would put in a emergency backorder for it . Got a call last Saturday and they said part was in . Three days later it was ready for pickup. Service report said they replaced steering gear box .

    Took my 2022 Civic Sport in for a recall. A week later I drove it cross country and noticed the sticky steering was really bad. Now has 35k on it. Brought it in to the dealer and they kept trying to gaslight me into thinking there was nothing wrong with it. I kept pushing, and finally a week later they come back and told me it’s the power steering gearbox.

    2023 crv hybrid sport 8k miles and took it to Honda for sticky steering issue. They kept it for a day and put 14 miles on it. They said they found no issues with the steering and there was nothing to fix. Next day nothing but sticky steering again. It’s especially dangerous when driving in the rain. It’s a sad situation because this is the family car and Honda is not accommodating their customers for their mistakes.

      @@mycarvoice A little update, The part arrived last week and earlier today I just send the car over. I chat a bit with the guy that was handling my case and he confirm that several Civic had this issue and some times after replacing it, it will broke again after sometime. But this is the first time it happen to the hybrid. I'm guess that the replacement parts are also poorly made. That's why some cars have to go thru several replacement to get it finally fixed. The replacement work on paper wrote is Steering rack replacement and part is Power Steering Gear. It will takes 2 days for them to get it done. So I'll be getting my car back tomorrow if not later

    I am having the same issue with my new 2024 CRV. It is most apparent at prolonged highway speeds. Minimum of 30 minutes. Slower speeds and shorter drives I don't notice it. I believe it has something to do with the electric steering motor heating up. Just made a trip to Florida from Michigan. Made it here safely but will be going to a local Honda dealer here hopefully the parts are available. My local dealer in Michigan, won't say which, said they never heard of the issue. Yet, they don't know I am friends with one of their mechanics and he said it's been an issue with the civic which the CRV shares same component. He says the electric motor and steering rack are all one component so it all needs to be replaced. I guess certain serial part numbers are causing the problem.

  • @journeytree

    The only thing I experience in my 2022 Civic Sport is the LKAS system actively pulling me outside of the lane lines on the road. The whole LKAS system is unable in my Civic because it will sideswipe a car if I don't consistently add a considerable amount of pressure opposing the LKAS motors. I brought it to the dealer and they said it's supposed to guide outside the lanes. It's interesting because the Lane Departure Mitigation system will shake my wheel saying that the car is exiting the lane, but the LKAS system is the reason. I just drive without LKAS all the time now because it's safer and easier. The problem has existed since the day I drove the car off the lot on September 4, 2021. I'm at 35k miles now.

      I wonder when cold does the steering wheel feel the same even in the center? After driving for 15+ min or after the car is warm, do you feel that the steering wheel feels lighter in the center? For example when you do micro corrections to the right or left, the heft of the steering wheel feels just right(according to driving mode), then when centering steering wheel, it may feel a bit lighter?

    Is this issue reported with the hatchback models as well?

      I would assume it would be because they are basically the same car except for the feature of the body being different towards the behind.

    I had this problem on a 2023 Integra A-Spec Tech Package, literally the day after I got it back for another issue with the door pillar rattling which took the dealer 5 days to fix. Was going to buy a TLX originally but thought the Integra was the more practical choice on paper at least. Traded for a CPO ‘23 TLX SH-AWD a month ago and no problems so far.

      @@Charkatak I traded in since I had a bunch of other issues unfortunately. The steering issue was noticeable after my car was in the shop for a while week for another seat trip and door rattle issue. Literally on the drive home.

    • @Charkatak

      @@realmac3k I wanted to buy TLX after selling 2010 Acura RL, however it was more money than Integra. So I own 2024 Integra now and it needed some padding in the passenger speaker mesh, the driver's door panel was molded incorrectly, so needed to be replaced. My car doesn't have that "sticky" steering wheel, however after I installed AcuraLink and activated 3y subscription, I have noticed something that I wasn't feeling before with the steering wheel. So when driving the car cold, the steering wheel feels the same as I expect according to the driving mode I am in. Then on my second drive(car is warm) or after driving for some time, I feel that steering wheel becomes lighter towards the center after returning from right or left micro corrections. In other words the steering wheel doesn't feel as it has the same torque/heft in the center. Did you feel anything like that? Trying to figure out if that is normal...

      @@Charkatak can’t say I’ve experienced that. More the heavy on center feel. The electric power steering felt a little weird to me at times though. Like either too heavy or too boosted. The right door pillar was replaced then on the way back from the shop I heard the drivers side one making a squeaky spring type noise.

    • @Charkatak
      @Charkatak 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@realmac3k Interesting. I wonder if my 2024 model has an updated steering rack which has slightly different symptoms. The weird thing is that this feel started happening the day I connected my car to AcuraLink app. I am trying to troubleshoot by disabling the app, data sharing in the car, removing/unlinking the car from the app and so on. If you are talking about the B-Pillar then most likely it is the lever that lets to adjust the height of the seatbelt. Unfortunately the quality isn't' the same as I am used to seeing/expecting from Honda/Acura.
