Awesome paint skills man, you have to do the engine with the colour changing effect. Would the frame also get hot enough to change colour? Maybe something to think about. Keep the vids coming, can't wait to see what you paint next.
Great video, could you please do an example of how you would approach painting a wheel which has bad/flaking paint that you could not scuff up and paint over? This is often the case for people wanting to paint their wheels i.e. what the best DIY method would be for preparing aluminium wheels for new paint with paint stripper or something similar
Boris Diamond Just get them sandblased. I recently got a set done for about $35 per wheel. When you consider the absurd amount of time needed to remove paint with sanding and chemicals versus just handing them to a shop, it will take you more time to remove the paint yourself than it will to earn that $140 in your normal job, extra shift or a cashie on the side.
Luv the rims I to paint motorcycles and rims but they seem to chip up fast and easy wat can I do to prevent this from happening...I really need to knw....can wait to see more
3re koats kustoms You can't really. If you want durability against stones get them powder coated, if you want eye bending effects go paint and park it hard at the bike show and tow it home... :D
Is it possible to color match a stock vehicle colors and translate it to a candy finish? Say you want the original ford Emberglo which was a two stage paint job. Use a black base with minimal flake, a second layer of 2k clear, spray the Emberglo, then a layer of 2k clear. Am I on the right track?
Maybe just me, but won't putting a new tire on that later down the line just rip through that paint? Isn't that why they powder coat rims...to be more durable than paint?
Master Dave...help!! Im having problems spraying clear coat in motor rims... when i spray from the right side, i will get overspray dusts on the left...vice versa... so its never ending story lol. Should i 1- use a larger gun? 1.7 or 2mm? Or 2- add more reducer to the clear mix so that it wont dry up too fast? Or 3- any solutions other than above? Cheers...
TheJigFreak yes try and get it to dry slower. Or once you have finished empty the clear out of the gun and add thinners only. Then spray over the overspray. This may smooth it out.
customspraymods ok so if I were to mix a satin/ matte black with a red pearl mixed in would it show? I'm looking for a satin black finish but where the light reflects off the satin I'd like a tint of red
Hey love your work. I am brand new to painting. Just sanded and etch primer (from can) some dirt bike chrome wheels that were too beat up to polish back.I didn't see this video prior and didn't put an adhesion promoter on first!! Should I wet and dry sand the wheels before applying the Acrylic satin fast dying finish coat (black in can) and then a clear multi-purpose Acrylic paint coat to follow? Or do I need to strip back an apply an adhesion promoter for a better finish? Really wan to attend some workshops after this COVID19 crisis. J
@@goozlo not what I said. Fresh paint is known to be a lot more fragile, even when having had a day or two to cure. Usually by the time the tyres need to be changed, the paint and clear coat have bonded well and are solid so more resistant to chipping or scratching. I wouldn't wanna risk changing a tyre on a newly painted rim
Dave what paint do you use for the exhaust and how do you pain it. Im a big fan of your videos, great source of information! Saludos all the way from mexico !!
hey bro! first of all u r doing a really nyc job (y) i wanna ask that is there any way to paint car's rim(alloy) into chrome, eg silver chrome, gold chrome etc?? waiting for ur reply..
Beautiful paint. But I'm mystified that you'd be prepared to do that much work on the paint and not take the trouble to remove the tires first. Doesn't that leave a weak edge to the paint?
jarreau2001 if your needle on the gun is to small it helps thin out the base coat to "flow" through a lot smoother! Very helpful when spraying metallics!
Just ordered myself the new street triple S A2 (same thing as the LAMS bike in Australia - uses the same 660 engine). Speed triple is my dream bike though :D
Great job, BUT the wheels got to be balanced again and the counter weights to be sticked/glued on to the rim beds....OMG the next tyre change with new weights and old to be removed...will be a nightmare to any tyre mounting guy. I would do it only with a disclaimer of Liability. I wouldn´t paint the rim bed on a street bike. Getting the rim bed polished is another thing.
Are you going To Just Dip it to have it done or give hydrographics a go yourself . If you are contact me and i will arrange some designs for you . For a shout out on your Channel . Cheers Renegade Graphix
I want heat changing paint on my bike now, that cam cover looks awesome.
I like the bike how it sits now, with the new wheels.
Awesome painting skills buddy. I wish i could paint my motorcycle wheels like this. It would surely stand out from the crowd.
That heat changing paint! Awesome

That colour change paint effect! Awesome
Truly amazing job!
Brilliant, very skilful mate. Wish my speed triple got this much TLC
Wow stunning art
yeeeessss more heat changing for sure. still a pretty rare paint to find on projects imo so it would be unique
Can you do this with spray cans? Which brand would you recommend?

Hey man can you do some vids on spraying satin black and matte black
Would you recommend to have the wheels bead blasted first or just sand them as you did before painting? Thanks
Beautiful job!!
What number is the sanding sponge better for rims ?! I have a 2014 yamaha r6 and want to paint them by tomorrow

cool watch bro I wana see more that hot water at the end made sutch a cool effect
how come you didnt take the tires off?
Looks amazing mate would buy it for sure

spray it again then I guess ;)
Nice video & the coolest part of the video is the song. 👍👆👆👆😇😇😇
those wheels look amazing
Would have been nice to have seen them on the bike ,, great job. Shane uk

Hey dave, is it possible to mix a matte black and red pearl with a strong matte finish?
Dane Ulrich sure is man. But the Matt clear does not show off the pearl as much. Flakes with Matt clear might look cool.

Could you do an updated car respray video?
Good looking results. Did you sand them before and/or after the clearcoat?
Hey bud, been following you on instagram aswell for a long time. If i accidentally got a few spots back to metal. Do i have to prine it?
my wheels are spoked, how do i prep them properly?
looks awesome, ill send some ducati monster wheels if youre looking for more vids!
Hello customspraymods, where did you purchase that great stand that moves 360 to help you paint 360 and makes the job real easy??
Alex Anderson hey mate. It's a broom handle and some tripod stands
@@customspraymods can I purchase a stand like this online??
Why you didn't simply remove the tires instead of spending a mile of tape ;)
Pascal Pereira
Because that's a lot of effort and there's a chance you can chip the new paint seven putting the tyres back on
@@madeleinegillett5892 so you will never change tyres again??

good job
can you do this with normal car wheels?
Also, are you supposed to sand in between coats or before you clear?
How long did you wait before you could put masking tape on the paint?
pressure of spraygun?
Raffo Asus about 35psi
really good work
They look gorgeous. How long do you wait to put the tape on the fresh paint?
Baron Teddy Von Forsthoffer about 20minutes is fine mate.
Thank you!!!
makes me jealous i dont have any of that equipment im about to spray my wheels with a can of Montana gloss black💀
fine job as always!!!!

sheraz nasir alsa corp has a good line of products for chrome painting. a little pricey but well worth it. and DEFINITELY FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!
ohkk.. So is it available on any online store?
alsacorp.com
they have a lot of crazy products from chameleon paints and fabrics, to color shift, to glow in the dark and heat induced color change.

Truly inspiring Dave! Question..do you cut and buff after clear coating the rims?
Bawang Network thanks man. No I didn't buff these.
I'm not a bike guy but if I were, I'd like the engine to color change. It's just to cool not too
How can get in contact with you??

Why did you not take off the tyres & valve's
Mark Jenkins I needed to paint the wheels and didn't have time to find a shop that could remover the tyres and valves.
