I am new to GoPro line and I am really enjoying your videos. These are straightforward, clear, and make a lot of sense. I purchased GoPro Hero 11 last week and was disappointed to see how quickly its battery drained. Initially, I thought that a defective product or maybe some battery issue., but after watching your video on Battery test comparison I got to know the reality. Thanks so much. Love from India.
Thank you, wonderful friendly informative video! Summary: Lower brightness, Shorten screen timeout, turn off GPS, lower beep volume, decrease auto power off time, turn off LEDs, turn off voice control & wake on voice, turn off wireless connections (Wi-Fi), decrease resolution (to 1080p) and frame rate (24 fps) 0:32 lol you mean "at most", not "at least". 4:35 I think you shoulda continued the 1st test til the battery fully drains, for full data. Same for 2nd test.
Thank you for your helpful comments. I have a black 8 when I can turn it off as soon as possible. Touching the case I have felt the heat the battery creates transferring heat to the outside of the camera. I just purchased a black 10 and have yet to find the time to set it up, etc. I am checking out utubes as preliminary info to make it easier later. Great video.
My Hero 8 will say it has 30 min of video and it's one video on my gopro, but when I download it, it separates the video into many sections. Why can't I record one continuous video?
All off is just possible if you do a time lapse. If you do action (is an action cam, isnt it?) you need at least the voice or the wifi or the display. Anyway, my compatible batteries are so poor 😭(I bought the GoPro used), I have a hero 5, I dont know if it worth more to buy a new compatible one...
Not really many times when im in a pinch i can reduce it all , well yes the display cannot be 10% al the time i usually keep it at 50 % but the rest can still apply to save battery life
Question, Tom, will turning off the wireless connection stop my remote from working with my hero8 black? Also, I couldn't find my front screen options.
Yes u need wifi to use the remote. Front screen options are only in hero 9 so its ok :) i dont remember if u van swotvh monochrome screen off though hmmm good question i think no caude dont remember ever doing so
@@Tomasz.Nowacki do you have a video on suggestions for SD cards based on the quality of video and camera usage? GoPro support has indicated that my software problems may be due to my sd card. Have already reformatted but didn't correct the camera from randomly turning itself on.
@@brentdgravel perhaps it turns on because of voice comman "wake on" feature. Its weird that it turns on itself otherwise, I dont have any specific video on sd cards but the one and only sd card i would recommend is Sandisc Extreme Plus or without, i never had an issue with this card and it always worked fine for me, just make sure you have a legit version from trusted source sometimes you can buy a knock off
@@Tomasz.Nowacki I have turned off the wake option. Hope that solves it. Another topic, do you notice the stabilization 3.0 on the 9 being better than the 2.0 on 8? You can go to my channel and see recent cycling videos with stabilization on with the 8 if you need a reference.
@@brentdgravel hey is far as i was testing for me they are very similar some youtubers zoomed in 200% or 500% and found some minimum difference that Hero 8 was better but for me its insignificant, for me personally having that Horizon stabilisation in hero 9 is just a game changer I guess if you turned off wake option your camera definitely wont turn on now accidentally
Thank you so much for this video. It’s the first one of your vids I’ve seen. I was totally stumped with my two hero 8’s but now I can drive my pony and not worry about having to stop and change my batteries every 30-40 minutes. I need to video our drives because of how dangerously vehicles drive near my pony and carriage. I have subscribed so I can find more vids much easier. 👍
i wonder if i just got unlucky with my gopro then. my gopro on lowest setting chugs through baterylife. i can literally sit and watch the numbers go down. i was hoping to live stream😔
Saving memory is basically about lowering the resolution to 2.7k or 1080 p from 5k or 4k the lower y go the more space u have, selecting lower bit rate will reduce the quality but also space required on your memory, and using HEVC codec will make the files smaller
For super hot i would suggest turning off gps, wifi, making sure u have a screen saver set to 1 or 2 min etc remember its an action camera it needs to be used outdoor
