Could it be the fact that the telesin batteries are rounded, that they let out some of the heat from the camera?

I'm filming in 5.3K 60FPS with the Hero 10. Using one original battery, a pack of three called "AHDBT-901" with 1800mAh each (blue with label that says: "BATTERY PACK 9 For GoPro") and two Enduro batteries.
I've tested them inside a fridge with a small usb fan infront of it to overcome the heat issues. At the beginning of the test the Hero 10 and the battery are at room temperature.
    My results:
    Original GoPro battery: 40 min
    "AHDBT-901": -------------- 32 min
Enduro: ----------------------- 52 min (GoPro states the runtime with 56 min in 5.3K 60fps at 14°F/-10°C and 60min at 77°F/25°C)

i havent had the pleasure of using that style of telesin battery ( I have one of the first ones that came out for the 9 ) it wasn't any worse or better than the stock battery. What I did notice however was when I switched to the enduro batteries for my hero 9 all my footage loss, and any other issues I had went away ( I do outdoor high speed riding adventures so it got plenty of air flow ). winter riding I was also able to actually record still where my stock gopro battery and aftermarket one did not last

I had bad results using Telesin 9/10 batteries in my GoPro 11. They worked for a short time then one-by-one the camera would shut down after only a few minutes of recording. Out of 5 Telesin batteries 4 have done this. I've used other brands with no issues. Needless to say, I will not be buying them again. Update: I contacted Telesin who replied they were sorry I had problems with their product but they were not willing to do anything about it. Their junky charger broke too. I will never buy anything electrical from them again.

I use the Enduro in my 10, here is my results, none scientific, I do one 45 minute dive the blue battery is at 14%, with the White Gopro battery I can go 3 45 minute dives and still have power. Yes I use Quick Capture.

GoPro Enduro battery is the best for me. Hands down. I can get about 1 hour and 15 minutes out of one Enduro battery. Plus they work in freezing cold weather. The regular GoPro battery lasts maybe 1/3 that long and fails repeatedly in weather below 50 degrees. They are terrible to be honest.. Ive had the blue Telesin batterys as well and my GoPro doesnt even recognize them anymore. I had to throw them away.
In my book, Gopro Enduros are the answer. I have 3 and could not be happier with how they perform.

I am using the two Gopro batteries came with Hero 9. They have been swollen to a point that I have difficulties inserting them into my gopro. I got an extra gopro battery with the official charger last year and it has started to swell. I don't use the camera very often, probably once every two two three weeks. I have decided to give Telesin batteries a try.

Although the conditions were the same for all 3 batteries, you had it on 4K 60fps in activity mode. That’s why it overheated. (I know you know this) but new people to GoPro will think batteries only last 30-40 mins. I went out for a run in highest quality/Pro controls, 1080 50fps with horizon lock/smooth and enduro battery lasted 1.5hours

Mmmm. Your knowledge of lithium batteries is superficial. A lithium cell has a voltage range of 3.6V discharged and 4.2V fully charged. Each of those batteries you tested has a BMS. Battery management sytem circuit. The telisin instead of auto switching off at 3.6V or 1% lets its cells deplete lower than is recommended for the longevity of lithium cells.Instead of giving a low battery cut of signal at a lower voltage, it gives an over heat signal to the gopro. Test has no purpose for anyone using it for what it is designed for. Should have at least mounted it on a tripod and by the looks of your shirt it looked like a warm day and you gave no ambient temp info. Could have been usefull info but I guess it was the only way you could make telisin batteries look good.

  • @Histogramas

    Liked! I was already subscribed.
The thing about the battery staying a long time at 1% must have to do with the prevision algorythm gopro uses to calculate te consumption at a given resolution/framerate.
You can see that they are a lot different across resolutions/tps and a WHOLE LOT if you turn to photo.. try it :) just allow say to reach 10% with 5.3k/60 and then switch to photo....

GoPro put out a statement about all these battery tests TH-camrs are doing. They said that you should have them mounted on something instead of laying it flat because the mount is designed for heat dissipation. However, the battery door being opened likely makes up for that, but it's not quite a real world test. Cheers

While it's normally good practice to compare things under the same conditions, I don't think it's fair to compare the Enduro battery to the others. The Enduro is specifically meant for different environmental conditions.
I suspect the overheating issues have to do with current drain. I suggest repeating the test (without the Enduro) at higher and lower resolutions and frame rates. My hypothesis is that at lower settings, the GoPro battery will outperform the Telesin. The GoPro battery had more power remaining in your test but couldn't make full use of it because of heat; if the camera isn't working as hard the GoPro battery shouldn't overheat as quickly, allowing it to run out. I'd be very interested to know how they perform at maximum settings though. It seems like the Telesin would win the day there.

    • @kaltask1

Also he is blocking the bottom of the camera, so it does not dissipate heat as much as it could. Telesin battery does have some gap there due to the shape, not sure if that helped. Still even on normal situations you would have your gopro on a stick. Other thing too is that usually gopro is used outside where there is some air currents going around the camera. People hardly use them stationary + max vid recording, but for timelapse yes, but it heats the camera less than video.
