People go after Macklemore instead of the academy, he wasn’t the one who gave himself the Grammy.

They gave the early 2010s a lot of its identity that's for sure.

Thrifting hasn’t been the same since “thrift shop” it was dirt cheap before it became trendy

What's incredible is they went platinum as an independent artist. Huge respect to them for that.

I'm convinced Macklemore never had the same fire in him after the 2014 Grammy's incident. You can tell with his discography after cause excluding Downtown, his songs were nowhere near as ambitious.

They were fine for the time they were popular, I think the Grammys cursed them though

I'm tired of all these youngsters saying how thrift shoping just recently became a trend becuase of tik tok. It started to become popular in the early 2010s leading into the mid 2010s, especially after this song became a hit. It has been popular since.

Can’t Hold Us is still a banger, but that Grammy win over Kendrick was a travesty, it wouldn’t be the last time Kendrick got screwed over either (*Cough To Pimp A Butterfly)

He also had a daughter he wanted to spend time with, I think that’s important to mention.

I remember a lot of girls in my high school bragging about how they would shop at thrift stores in the early 2010’s. What a weird era! 😄

Macklemore shouldn't have to apologize for something that was the academy's doing. People also shouldn't be trying to take the magical moment away from him just because he is a white rapper that won in the Rap Album category. Being black and a hip hop fan I totally understand and feel that the cultural significance of rap in the black cimmunity is important and deserves to be more recognized for what it brings to the table in the music industry. There were better artists on that roster, for sure. I , however, respect Macklemore for having the humility to show some respect for black rap artists who work hard in the industry and realize that he may never have the same kind of connection to the genre as black artists usually do in terms of our culture. He also deserves to enjoy his win since he and Lewis worked hard, too for people who were relatively new compared to all the other artists at the Grammy's. Critics should have left them alone.

People keep talking about how the Grammys lost its relevence and isn't important anymore, yet are still pressed about someone winning a particular award over someone else years later

Why people didn't have the same energy when cardio b won rap of the year first than legends like Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Missy, Foxy and others?
