Fun fact: Redfoo co-wrote a song "We Want The Funk" by Ahmad back in 1994 which would later be sampled on "King Kunta" by Kendrick Lamar, which landed Redfoo a credit as a writer on the song and on the album "To Pimp a Butterfly"
I remember how harsh the reviews were at the time but I still don’t think people understood back then. The music isn’t something you just throw on and dissect, it was just party music to go dance and have a good time. It was good for exactly what it was. It’s a shame they didn’t go further. They were fun.
LMFAO's music is so emblematic of the early 2010s. It's loud, fun, in your face and tells you that everything will be alright. I will always have fondness for it. It's a contrast to where music is now where it's more often mid-tempo and faces our anxieties head-on. Like it too though.
It’s a very sad ending for them I completely understand why Sky Blu was mad when his uncle left him behind to tour. He probably thought they were going to make it together as family. I get how he felt betrayed but I can also see Red Foo’s point of view. This wasn’t his first time trying to make music and while for his nephew it was all new and fun he probably thought this was his last shot. For the first time in his career he was getting mainstream attention and probably was afraid of their success going away if he didn’t act fast. And I don’t blame him for thinking that way. At least he had some years of success cause he did lose his momentum after the tour.
He could have kept going if he would have paid his nephew. And it goes without saying that he should have kept in contact with him and cared about how he was doing. If it were me I would have paid him and been there. It’s bs

I know exactly what you mean! I was at this party once and my asshole was itching something awful. It was as if a swarm of fire ants were biting their way out of my rectum. This girl was talking to me when I started aggressively scratching the inside of my asshole I was digging deep and really using my nails I pulled my fingers out and there was this blood under my nails and not only was the girl yelling but all the conversations stopped and stared ate. All I could say was, "Sorry for party rocking." Then I LMFAO. Wildest bar mitzvah I've been at.
I used to talk to them on their Myspace page when they had less than 300 friends, lol. I had their song "yes" as my profile music and they contacted me to thank me. I believe it was RedFoo that I talked to most of the time. There ended up being several small conversations. A few years later, Myspace was gone and these dudes were #1 artists. Blew my mind.

I hear Party Rock Anthem at the club all the time and it just now dawned on me how much time has passed. Really feels like it hasn't been that long but damn 11 years is a lot lol
Party Rock Anthem was literally inescapable in 2011, me and my friend even attempted to do the shuffle for our dance performance into year 7, it was kinda cringe but still. Only other song to maybe get close before that was Owl City - Fireflies.
LMFAO was everywhere back in 2011 and 2012.Even though their music was cheesy,I actually miss the electro and dance pop music from that time it was fun and never meant to be taken seriously compared to pop music nowadays.
I’d much rather have songs to dance to in the club rather than to dance to on TikTok, even though I never go to the club. If pop music is gonna be dumb, as it usually is, it might as well be fun enough to keep anyone from caring.
Haven’t watched yet but thanks to LMFAO for making elementary and middle school fun. Playing the wii fit in gym class, actually knowing a hit song like the other kids, fun music, visuals and humor etc was a unique time and they had such positive energy the world ate up

“Party Rock Anthem” came out during my freshman year of college and it was quite possibly the most overplayed song on the radio of all time and I’m not even exaggerating. While I wasn’t a fan of the song it definitely brings me back to a snapshot of time that I remember fondly.
I saw LMFAO live at Stereosonic in Sydney in 2011. It was literally the best show I'd ever seen. They were absolute entertainers! Such a shame that they couldn't have kept it going ..
Damn I was only 13 in 2011 but of how I would’ve LOVED to experience this. LMFAO is just as iconic as Avicii when it comes to their sound. Oh how they’ll be missed
Very disturbing that Redfoo wouldn't even go CHECK on his nephew when he hurt himself after the show. That is honestly the worst part of this whole story. Makes me sad - I really liked that guy.
If LMFAO came back and dropped a really catchy song, they’d be back at the top almost immediately. Especially if they didn’t announce anything, and it just dropped. The shock factor would also be insane.
As a Teenager at the time, I did love their music and would always blast it in middle school. I still go back and listen to their music every now and then. However, I don’t think a reunion would be successful because their main audience (middle schoolers to college students) are all grown up now and I just don’t see it hitting us like it did when we were immature crazy students just being goofy and dancing.
If they are tactical and strategic about it, their return as a duo could result in them being on the EDM festival circuit year in and year out. They have to hit the nail on the head, but they have so much nostalgic strength that it could work.
I suspect that your hypothesis is very accurate, basically the equivelent of a las vegas residency. Not on top anymore..... but still relevant and liked.
'Sorry for Party Rocking' has a special place in my heart, as it was the soundtrack to a memorable summer with my best friend and his older brother. We were having so much fun back then, and LMFAO's music was so fitting to the mood. Eleven long years have passed, my best friend is still there, but I'm no longer in touch with his brother. We all grew up and moved on. I guess LMFAO did too. But the music has that ability to capture memories and bring them back to life as soon as you hit play. So anytime I want to be 17 again for a few minutes, I just blow the dust off a track from SFPR.

The Discogs thing you highlighted is not how many sold, but how many the members on Discogs have it in their collection - It has nothing to do with sales of the item.
@@robbiemcneish4459 I'm pretty sure there has to be millions of discogs users when nearly a million have The Dark Side Of The Moon listed as want and around 400k have it listed as have. That's like 1.4 million users and while it's a popular album I think it's safe to assume not every single user either has or wants it. But yeah the number on discogs itself doesn't really tell you much. But when only 44 people listed it, it's safe to assume they didn't sell a ton of them.
This was great! The “selling only 44 copies according to discogs” isn’t really correct. Discogs doesn’t track sales, that number is the amount of discogs-registered users that claim they own that release. There’s probably many unaccounted-for copies as well
Was just about to comment the same thing. It isn’t the total sales, it was probably a good bit more. Just 44 people who have a Discogs account have it in their collection.

I think there's probably more to the story, and both of them likely contributed to the tension. I agree that based on what SkyBlu said, his uncle was controlling and cared more about the money than their relationship (if what he said is completely true). However, I don't think his Facebook post about his issues with RedFoo had completely honest intentions. Tension and confrontations always seem to be brought up publicly when the person exposing it has the most to gain. In my opinion, SkyBlu was bashing RedFoo publicly to draw media attention and promote his solo album and other projects. He mentions his solo album at the beginning and his Big Bad collective at the end of his post. He was content keeping the reasons for the LMFAO breakup private until his album was about to release, then suddenly it became so bad that it needed to be exposed. That's a terrible way to handle issues with a family member and a scummy (but common) marketing tactic. Why do the fans need to know about your issues with your uncle? In my opinion, that could've been handled privately.
1:22 is definitely not representative. Discogs is a user collection database and marketplace for keeping track of physical media. The 44 copies listed there as "have" are owned by people that signed up on discogs and added it to their personal collection. To put that into perspective: Only about 265k copies of Michael Jacksons "Thriller" are currently listed as "have" on the site.
was waiting to see someone point this out, like less than 2 minutes of understanding how discogs works you'd be able to tell that the "have" stat is for people who've just catalogued it in their collection
I know Party Rock Anthem is their biggest song, but hearing the bass thumping in the club while they screamed "Shots" on the chorus will always be the highlight IMO. The Chuckie Remix to I'm In Miami was top notch too.
I’m a live sound engineer and I just did a show where one of One of those guys performed. I didn’t know it was him until I played the back track. Talk to him earlier and everything. Cool guy
The first time I heard party rock was on a vacation in Atlanta. The timing was basically perfect and I instantly had the song on repeat for a month or two and was invested in the group. It's just so mind boggling their personal lives were vastly different than their musical performances of them seemingly having each other's back. (No pun intended) Edit: They recently released a new song called What and it sounds good.
@Smoked Out I'm convinced that psychopaths and people who have gone completely looney do something as stupid as listening to the same song on repeat over and over again. My gosh, what character you must be.

These guys would’ve still made some more good music if they were still together.
This is so sad…and I can’t believe it’s been 10 years! I remember learning the shuffle dance, buying merch, buying their album, my whole family loved them. Their music permeated my high school years so much that I actually started listening to their non-hit songs too. Despite this, I never went out of my way to figure out what happened to them, as I just assumed they became producers or something like that. *_I feel so damn old now._*
I am a bit younger than you - this was the music of my middle school years. Their music made me very happy And I remember how all kids were hiding from parents that they were listening to it because we thought it was so naughty and risqué haha. Good years
You might not like their music but you gotta admit, they carried the party music genre on their back from start to finish and they were the pioneers of the genre *I wish they can come back and make more party bangers like they did before*

It's funny how a decade ago, people talked about how much mainstream music sucked because of it all being "shallow, meaningless, party music" and how slow, moody ballads were like a breath of fresh air, but now it's the other way around lol!
@@realzhella6817 By 2015, things were noticeably starting to change - After Uptown Funk, we were firmly in the trap era/post-Dr Luke era, where a lot of the big names from the early part of the decade were beginning to peter out, and the new artists were coming in with a more downbeat, minimalistic sound, and it started to sound a lot more depressing and unhappy going forward
These two were a laughing stock for young twenty something Millennials, but reading all of the young people who loved their music growing up makes me realize how context based art can be.
This was somehow the most played song in the clubs at the time especially when the night peaks and everyone is about to get wasted. I remember very well, even though I never danced to their hit song but just drank and watched everyone jump up and down. Brings back great memories 🙌

LMFAO's music is so emblematic of the early 2010s. It's loud, fun, in your face and tells you that everything will be alright. I will always have fondness for it. It's a contrast to where music is now where it's more often mid-tempo and faces our anxieties head-on. Like it too though.

I completely understand why Sky Blu was mad when his uncle left him behind to tour.
Yeah but he could have at least spoke to the man, checked in him before he left and keep updated on how he was doing

The Discogs thing you highlighted is not how many sold, but how many the members on Discogs have it in their collection - It has nothing to do with sales of the item.
Especially considering there aren't millions of Discogs users
@@robbiemcneish4459 I'm pretty sure there has to be millions of discogs users when nearly a million have The Dark Side Of The Moon listed as want and around 400k have it listed as have. That's like 1.4 million users and while it's a popular album I think it's safe to assume not every single user either has or wants it. But yeah the number on discogs itself doesn't really tell you much. But when only 44 people listed it, it's safe to assume they didn't sell a ton of them.
I was thinking the same thing, but wanted to be sure.

You can tell, redfoo was too hyper for me
I think there's probably more to the story, and both of them likely contributed to the tension.
8ky has released albums since
@@joshmorgan5933 What’s your evidence for that?

1:22 is definitely not representative. Discogs is a user collection database and marketplace for keeping track of physical media. The 44 copies listed there as "have" are owned by people that signed up on discogs and added it to their personal collection. To put that into perspective: Only about 265k copies of Michael Jacksons "Thriller" are currently listed as "have" on the site.
Shows the lack of overall insight and understanding that goes into this channel's content.
was waiting to see someone point this out, like less than 2 minutes of understanding how discogs works you'd be able to tell that the "have" stat is for people who've just catalogued it in their collection

You might not like their music but you gotta admit, they carried the party music genre on their back from start to finish and they were the pioneers of the genre
*I wish they can come back and make more party bangers like they did before*
100%
Annoying Orange did it better tho let's be real
how did they pioneer a genre of music that existed for decades already ?
Pinoneers of the Gerne?
When they started 30 years after is almost died?
ummm....have you ever heard of the B52s? As an example of party rock
I was just talking about them to my friend, wondering wtf happened to them.
Miss the days of playing LMFAO in a field with a group of friends just doing our worst dancing.

Finally it’s here,
Also recently thought of them!

@@gangahuweed3012 whats wrong with that
Saw him last weekend at the BNP tennis tournament and people were trying to take photos and I was clueless. Then I saw he wrote my theme song and ringtone, I’m sexy and I know it. Then they played that Party song and the big cam was on him during the game. I came here to find out who was this guy. Well done.
I´m the DJ in my friend group, and every new years eve we make a big, loud ass party.
Whenever we are past the classy techno and the energy pumping DnB, and people are absolutely piss drunk, still to this day, I mix in some LMFAO and in never fails to make anyone invited to go wild.
Yeah, their stuff had that "something" that you don't find anymore.
Great comment 👌
They were the masters of the 'don't take this too seriously' mood in their songs.. and redfoo kept it going for a while until cancel culture got him
I actually have met these guys in person before when they were filming party rock anthem, and even while filming it, it was one of the most mesmerizing things ever
So what were they like? Did you talk to them?
Their flashy and hyped up style fitted so well at that time. Party rock anthem was the soundtrack of the year 2010. Every radio station played that song and every one had it on their ipod.
I had it downloaded on muve music, good times 👍
Discogs user here. You're actually wrong on 01:23. The 'statistics' don't show how many copies the album has sold, but how many users have this specific album in their possession. The 'want' on the other hand means how many discogs users want to buy the album. An inside Discogs thing.
🤓
Their music is so 2010’s it hurts from nostalgia lol. I remember sitting upstairs at my mums bf’s house, on the computer, playing bin weevils whilst listening to the charts at the time, their songs played so much
@slida emif Of his own feet?!? Eww!
Dude I remember a time when it was literally impossible to do anything without hearing those songs
I feel bad for SkyBlu. He looked up to RedFoo and betrayed him when he should’ve been with him the most and they’re career was just starting to get good when RedFoo ruined it and left him in the dust
Lol 🇷🇺
@DJ NIGGE R Small world
I really miss LMFAO, these guys are so nostalgic for me and even to this day I still listen to some of their songs. Especially my most favourite champagne showers.
I love that song too, I still have a physical copy of their album hahah
I was really young in 2012, but I feel like the year didn’t even exist. The phantom menace 3d, the party rock anthem, everything just feels so surreal, it feels like a year that didn’t exist, and even though I only faintly remember it, I remember it being the best year I have ever lived through.
The best year you lived but barely remember? What, are you 107?
2012 was so strange
@@GoAsCloseAsYouCan you can recall everything from when you were 10?
I graduated highschool when this came out, it was pretty good and way better than Asher Roth lol

Finally it’s here.
It's funny how a decade ago, people talked about how much mainstream music sucked because of it all being "shallow, meaningless, party music" and how slow, moody ballads were like a breath of fresh air, but now it's the other way around lol!
Yeah, it's like, the mainstream is always trying to be subverted by negative tracks but, that's depressing as shit, lol.
All about balance
Nostalgia is a strong emotion
@@realzhella6817 By 2015, things were noticeably starting to change - After Uptown Funk, we were firmly in the trap era/post-Dr Luke era, where a lot of the big names from the early part of the decade were beginning to peter out, and the new artists were coming in with a more downbeat, minimalistic sound, and it started to sound a lot more depressing and unhappy going forward
@@realzhella6817 true, we were the teenagers in 2010, now we're the old pricks/parents/adults hating on the interests of the young 😂
These two were a laughing stock for young twenty something Millennials, but reading all of the young people who loved their music growing up makes me realize how context based art can be.
Children are impressionable. These guys were entirely manufactured.
Aah thats really interesting. Kinda how we look down upon fortnite and tiktok kinda stuff now
You mean older millenials?
Because the younger millenials were the ones who *lapped that shit up!*
_I remember this all too well 😭_
Idk Party Rock Anthem was a catchy tune, when I heard it it sounded like an average pop song. Seemed legit to me lol
@@traviscowley4780 it definitely is of it’s time. Brings me back to an era I can’t even describe here in the comments.
Idc if they had a decline. They are the foundation of the best music of the 2010s
This was somehow the most played song in the clubs at the time especially when the night peaks and everyone is about to get wasted. I remember very well, even though I never danced to their hit song but just drank and watched everyone jump up and down. Brings back great memories 🙌

I’m not gonna lie, I was a first year in college when Party Rock Anthem came out. This was a turn up song in the dorms and at the parties.
You know what they say: Don't be sad it's over, be happy it happened.
I still love LMFAO stuff, it's fresh, catchy and fun to listen to.
Also, LMFAO is a good example of how out of touch critics are and how always looking to be offended twitter users are.
🤣🤣🤣
The fact they were popular doesn't mean their music is good, their music is shit, but there is nothing wrong with that. If anything it talks about the type of society we live on, a society that rewards this type of "product" and elevates it to a "genius" status. I listen to crappy music too from time to time, but I am aware of what I'm consuming.
@@raulpardomorales7994 Love this comment.
In my opinion. Sometimes, Crappy music if listening right place and right time. It was entertaining as hell. As time passes it also can became Guilty Pleasure :)
Fun fact : I didn't like "Dance Monkey" original version, But the music & melody actually works well for covered in Light Music type like Instrumental Sax.
I agree with you :)
What's crappy is music snobbery
I'm still listening to their music, I don't think anyone can peak the energy their songs give
@i don't make memes Same
This and Papa Americano used to be my favourite songs
Fucking hell these bots
It's crazy how much I heard their music back in middle school. Literally, you heard it EVRYWHERE. But after seeing this video, it was pretty sad to see what happened with both of their fates...
Saw the concert in Regina & I was ecstatic when sky blue still performed in a wheel chair 😊🥰 I got a slip disc and just to imagine he performed like thy ❤
Crazy how 2010 seemed so beyond comprehension around 2001 for me but now 2010 is 12 freaking years ago. We seriously are getting nostalgic about the 2010’s?
I think it has to do with social media. All of this always circulating on SM but back then there was no SM so everything seemed so far off.
I feel like the difference from 2001 to 2010 was a lot bigger jump than 2010 to now. By 2010 we had smart phones. Just the smart phones are better now than they were at that time. In 2001 most of us didn’t have a cell phone at all.

Sometimes I feel like you're in my Google, watching my search history because I literally googled this last month wondering where they went. another great video Sunny
Redfoo came to my deployed location in 2018 on a uso tour and honestly he was nice as hell and then stayed and partied wayyyyy longer than he needed to.
