I attended a seminar: How to process acorns for bread making. Often the process started with discovering the caches of acorns gathered by squirrels. We learned about processing acorns, including giving some of the acorns to Jay birds that kept us company, so that the birds could plant the acorns and make new trees. I asked why the recipe for the delicious bread was not included in the session, Oh, the instructor said, that is easy, mix one part acorn meal with one part Bisquick!

There are a few grind stones in a creek that runs right next to my house. Some are super deep and well used, probably used over a couple generations at least.

Beautiful video. Settler colonialism ruined it but we can all help and help them get their land back one parcel at a time #LandBack

In a tribal land, a tale unfolds,
Of an adopted soul, a story to be told.
    Mooretown's embrace, warm and wide,
Yet a divide in benefits, a lingering tide.
Adopted into the tribe, a hopeful start,
But casino fortunes don't reach every heart.
No coins from the slots, no shared delight,
Adopted, yet distant, in the casino's light.
Through tribal halls and council's gate,
An adopted member's plea, a twist of fate.
"Rights and benefits," the heart implores,
Yet the casino's coffers close their doors.
In the rhythm of drums, a bittersweet sound,
A tale of adopted kin, in shadows found.
Mooretown's heart beats, a complex rhyme,
    A tribe's embrace, yet a challenging time.

Miwok here, not all tribes were peaceful. we were fighting, enslaving other tribes and doing most most things uncivilized society's do. there are no victim's in native history that hasn't happened to all other cultures in history around the world

I am Miwok and we didn't enslave anyone, not even the Paiutes who my Grandma detested.
