I apologize upfront for the length of the video... sorry. Also, just so you know, the Cast Iron Wednesday challenge for March is “stew”... not just beef stew. Thanks for watching, and if this your first time watching my channel, consider subscribing. Most of my videos are not this long, but I’m usually outside doing something. Thanks for watching! - Chris
Calvin's Corner72 - Thanks Brother... I know some people don’t have time to watch longer vids, but I sure appreciate those who make time to watch ‘em! 😉
Your Old Pal Fernbark - stump season is getting here late this year.... and I don’t think it’s gonna last very long. We haven’t had a Winter yet, and Spring is almost here!
I really dig your homemade tool and cookware items. Heck, that pkg would have been fine too, probably wouldn't have tasted near as good! Thanks for stepping up and doing this & showing us your beef stew....or stew.... I love your camp, Brother! Sean is the king...for real!!! Quite the chef in cast iron! And always been there every Wednesday 🍳😀👍🏼 CastIronCrew cooking stew at camp!! And I like that cool charger light thing
New equipment? I was using a phone that was coming apart and 100 cracks on the front screen....hahaha... I JUST upgraded today (finally) and trying to recover all my stuff. 😬😯
Flint and steel fire warms your soul. Was it the meat, or Carolina Chris that was marinating in bourbon and Pepsi for two days? Stew sure looked good.. Lots of gravy to sop up with bread or dumplings or biscuits. Thank you for the fantastic shout-outs, Chris, and for sharing your Cast Iron Wednesday recipe with us.
Outstanding cook out there in the woods. Nice set up and addition to cast iron Wednesday. The horseshoe hanger looks sweet. Good shoutouts. Shawn kills it with the cast iron good stuff. Cheers Chris.
For sure, I thought that mountain house meal was going to land in the fire when you threw it. I have a few of those stumps around my way. Thanks for sharing
I learned how to bake bread in a dutch oven over a campfire. I know how to bake bread at home, was taught when a little boy, made all kinds of bread at home. But learning how to bake campfire dutch oven bread is golden key skill. So, If you were out in the wild for days ...or SHTF, making bread opens a lot more things you can stock up, like PB&J , sandwiches, SOS. etc. So hunkering down in your camp baking a loaf of bread a day, gives a good chore,. There is a huge variety of foods you can stock and store. If SHTF, you wont have fresh bread at the store, you wont be able to get to the store, so you can make tuna salad, chicken salad, ham salad, grilled cheese, SOS, so many things you can prep and stock up when you know you can bake bread...even in the deep woods over a campfire.
man looks great chris . makes me want to cook some up . would have to be indoors though . still to cold for me outside . love your outdoor cooking im sure glad dutch oven season is finally here . i give ten out of ten stars brother great cast iron wednesday video . your right about dee and shovel head 8 . there both super cool people .
Good looking camp set up nestled in the South Carolina pines. kick back , relax and let the stew cook. Life is good. Sounds like your neighbors are exercising a little good old American freedom . God bless America. Good stuff ! Cheers.
Yes Sir! It’s fun hanging out at my little camp in the piney woods.... Everybody around there shoots!!! I do too, but don’t show it too much in my videos since the YTube police don’t care for firearms.
Hi Chris. Dandy looking stew you cooked up there. I thought you were really doing the Mountain House one first. 🥺 Nice flint striker and lighting a fire that way is more fun. The cooking racks you made are pretty awesome looking. The camp is really coming along. Soon you won't want to leave it. The camera gear your "film crew" uses is getting to be in rough shape. A Texas Pete holster....that is a first! Good to see the beer stump producing at the right time. I had some luck with my hunting last week. Video coming out this weekend. ......Take care, Mike
Looks delicious... Going to do a beef stew next Wednesday.. weather permitting.. (maybe I can get a Texas Pete holster made by then)...hahahaha Great job Chris
...........Great looking camp, Chris...........everything about it spot on.....Don't worry about your vids being too long....you got the content to make them just right no matter how long they are....Looking forward to more....

That was like a shake and bake bag, nice. But dang Chris, my mouth is already watering and you haven't even started cooking yet. LMAO, return fire, they're coming for your stew!!! And the Texas Pete Sheath was the best I'm crackin up right now 😂😂😂
Holly maccarow that's a heck of tasty Beef stew, marinade made of bourbon And Pepsi is a freaking good idea 👍 great Flint And Steel fire ignition 🔥🔥🔥 awsome to smoke a pipe while the stew is simmering 👌👌👌 Is there some leftover because I can't imagine eat it all 😂😂😂😂👊👍✌️

Mighty fine looking stew Chris! I'm a Pete fan as well, sometimes just Louisiana, but usually gravitate towards Pete. Enjoyed this one. Gonna have to get in on some of the C-I Wednesdays. Great video Chris, even the length. I like Sean's cast iron Wednesday. He makes some delicious looking meals and desserts. Nice carrying case for the hot sauce. Handy stump you have there. Stew looked excellent, go for the gusto and add the entire can of tomato sauce. Thanks for sharing brother 👍
Howdy Chris- great video brother. The stew looks good and the fire pit and camp are awesome! It’s a lot of fun cooking outdoors with cast iron. Food just seems to taste better. God bless y’all

Chris, I missed this one a few years back, but absolutely admire your open-fire cooking "stuff", as you referred to your kit. Looks like it serves your needs well, my friend. Oh yeah, the stew looked yummy, too!
Great vid Chris. I was thinking as the mountain house was flying towards what looked like the fire, dang, theres about $10 up in smoke. Then, the stump. I was thinking about what a bear does in the woods more than a beer in the woods.
I started cracking up when you showed the mountain house. I'm glad you didn't use a lighter to light this fire. It's about enjoying your time outdoors. Cheers Chris. My beer stump is about to produce some beer too, I hope it's not the water downed beer. If it does, I'll throw it in the fire and get a new beer stump.
Chris YOU are the coolest ! 😎 Well..... Thank you! Not sure how much longer that beard will be there..... I’ll be shaving it off when Spring gets here. Thanks for the “camera angle” comment too!!!! 👍🏻
The stew looked great but the coffee is what caught my eye. I think a small bottle of Irish Cream would be about the same size and weight as the Mason jar of whitener and have some pleasant side effect. Keep up the great videos
Moose Mortensen - Man, I’ve been wondering about you!!! Glad to see you’re still kickin’ 😉. Thanks for dropping by Moose! Tell your brother I said “Hi”
Great video, Chris. And great job on the homemade cast iron gear. The Beef Stew looked very good! I'd like to start using my Dutch oven again on camping trips. It's been quite a few years since I have. I usually think about it in the Fall and Winter. 👍
Sean’s cool despite being Canadian! Joking buddy. Good job with the cooking, I like the Pepsi bourbon marinade, I’d like to try that one both on food and in a glass!
Good looking camp there, Chris, it has really come along. Need to get me a bit more forged gear for my firepit. I love the spit and pot hanger. I do love my forged tripod as well though. I also add a bit of tomato to beef stew and my version of minestrone. I dont use much so I pretty much keep the squeezable tube of tomato paste in the fridge at all times now. One lil squirt in just enough for more most times. TC and ATB, Cris.
that's my kind of camp coffee, we still perk it at the hunt camp and its good but french press is the best ! put the stew together perfectly, and that hammock is on point . thanks for sharing
Nice iron work for your fire pit .. Dave Canterbury just released a swing arm cooker set.. I have got to get into forging .. check that swing arm cooker .. looks easy to make .. and man that stew .. skipped lunch today and starving .. a bowl of that would be so tasty right now
