    This man makes some well thought out fire boxes. I love this off the ground fire box with grills. Sometimes you have to get your fire off the ground to leave no trace. Consider this man's set up.

    That was a fine display of ur fire box n excessories n very nicely done n l haven't decided if this box is the right size or should l make a smaller one fir our yard we live in Illinios right by Ohare airport n l keep transforming our yard with garden boxes n yard n patio furniture n it's been a tough battle.. n out if all the grills n boxes from everywhere especially Agentinian style l like urs the best it's simple n extremely effective ..l l pay attention to ur speech silvery n it tells me about ur character n l believe you are good holsim family man full of respect n talent keep in doing ur thing nicely done

    • @strongsadventures
      @strongsadventures  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well thank you so much. Yes in hind site I would have built the fire box a little narrower but I would still keep the length. The way I built the box has let it warp over the years. I plan on rebuilding it so maybe keep an eye out for that. I do love the length and would never change that . Everything else has been working great though and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you so much again

  • @strongsadventures

    I bought the uprights, crossbar and hooks. After I learned how to cook using the hooks I built the firebox and swing grills myself. That way they were the size I wanted plus the shipping on the fire box was going to be $150 dollars. Thanks for watching and if you have any questions please ask.

Everytime someone would visit we'd tell them we were going to take them to Buccees and they would always ask why were taking them to a gas station. We'd say trust us you'll see. First We are so sorry for your loss. We absolutely love Johnny Nix and in fact he is the inspiration for me building this set up. We have a few videos of us doing Johnny's recipes and are going to do more. I actually built my fire box bigger than the one he sold. That is so awesome that your girls cooked a Thanksgiving Day meal over the camp fire. I bet it was awesome. Thank you so much Jackie.

    Excellent! How do you raise it up if it's flaming hot? The weight seems like it would require touching the metal in the flames. The gloves don't burn?

    • @strongsadventures
      @strongsadventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for your question. Yes the gloves really work. They are heavy leather welding gloves but this is where the swing grill comes in. You move it over and it cools a bit and you can raise it up. You can also use the fire poker to assist in the pick up it you need too. Thank you so much again.

    Did you buy the hooks, or did you bend the steel yourself??? I have a similar setup I bought from Sportsman's Guide, but it no where as heavy duty as your set. Since you have 12 pairs of welding gloves, is it safe to presume that you built the firebox yourself??? If so, what gauge steel did you use?? I'm definitely going to put one together up on my place in Alaska next summer. If you're interested there will be videos on my channel!! If you're a welder, you might be interested in my video of the pig roast I did for my 93 year old dad in WV in October. It showcases a very unique cooker I engineered, and he did all of the welding. My channel is: The Lone Moose

      Hey Moose. Ok to start to answer your questions. 1 we got the hooks out of a place in Colorado back in maybe 2006 . 2 I do have some welding classes under my belt but I am in no way a welder. 3 I am an electrician by trade and I was very impressed by your windshield wiper motor spit turner.3 I would like in the future to start making these but at this point in my life its not possible. We do have a more in-depth video that gives all the dimensions it is here studio.th-cam.com/users/video3r3xpb05EvE/edit After seeing the Contraption I have no doubt that you can make this. Man I do want that Smoker Pig roster that you built . Hope this helps

I'm sure you can advise ways to improve on the concept???.Where are you located? If you're in the lower 48 maybe we could do a pig roast sometime. If you're up north in Alaska, do one up there. If that idea interests you we can definitely explore possibilities! Have a very Merry Christmas sir, and a very Happy New Year!
