Everyone has their own way of making stew, where I am from that was close to shit on a shingle, not everyone grew up with the same thing! Thanks for sharing!
Stew is one of my absolute favorite camp meals. Easy to make, easy to clean and goes a long way. I’ve made the same timing mistake before so now I get the stew going then Setup camp and take my time getting all my gear sorted. Cheers and thanks for all the great tips over the years!
Every single time I watch one of your videos I say to myself "I will cook that, it looks delicious". Keep up the (very entertaining) good work please. Plus it's always great to see your woofer tooling around in the background. He/she looks like they enjoy every minute in camp as well.
I've always had a good time with this kind of camp cooking. Red wine and short ribs is another good variation. Carrots, celery, tomato base & a nice cab sav or Shiraz instead of the porter. Delicious.
Thats the best part about camping, its taking the TIME to relax and enjoy the moment with people you love. Even if that means sometimes it takes a little more time for the stew to cook 🤣 have a beer and wait it out.
My timing to watch this video was about as good as your “time” management. I like that you don’t pretty things up, but show the way it goes. All our best from Minnesota, USA. Skillet
Man stood up for MSG. Respect. Good video overall! Maximal butter application to the potatoes is mandatory. Whenever I make a tri-tip, we make that super-buttered mashed potatoes.
As the Stones said (many years ago now young fella): Time is on my side! Great recipe. I'm going to try that as soon as the season allows me to light a fire. Cheers
I've cooked exactly this recipe many times but last winter my meat was awful and I think you are absolutely right that it needs to go the distance, if only I'd been patient but I had a hungry crew waiting for a feed and I went for it because happy hour had gone overtime. You definitely live and learn to give things "TIME". Cheers Marg & Steve
It’s getting to that TIME of the year we can get out, explore, light a fire and cook with the oven. TIME to start and try some of your recipes. Thanks 😊
Looked amazing! Just perfect. And thanks for sharing that tidbit about the dehydrated orange vegetables. My mom used to make soup with this soup starter that had spices and some dehydrated vegetables in it and I always hated the way that stuff smelled. I bet it was the freezedried carrots in it!
When people complain they never have enough time to get outside just need to make the time while they can and enjoy what this amazing place has to offer
Love watching your videos as they are entertaining and educational. I just have to make "time" to get out and do more ourselves. Thanks again, hope the family is well.
TIME and tide (and apparently a stew) wait for no one. You'll be the one waiting 😆. Can't beat a simple good stew out in the bush. Great recipe, as always 👌 😋
Harry you motivated me to cook this tonight. It was still in cast iron, but it was le crueset on the stove top. Luckily mine cooked in 1 hour in time for dinner. No complaints from the kids for a change, especially the mash with that much butter. To try over the fire next time with my bedourie! Thanks for the inspiration Harry, keep cooking the good stuff.
Thanks for sharing. Been trying something similar but with carrots and no mushrooms. Combo of tomato paste, diced tomato tin, beef stock and red wine seems to be a winner for me. Oh, and don't forget a few bay leaves and fresh TIME.
Love it!! Its one of my favorite meals, i cook my late Mums Stew and when the family are coming over for dinner they want Nannys Stew! i recon mine is better but i take More TIME browning the meat and that's were i believe the flavor comes from! love your Channel, Cheers, Pete
Thanks for taking the TIME to make this video and share it, looking forward to the TIME I can give it a go.
Fry the meat coated in flour first, get a good char on it, the add the rest of your ingredients. Flour will help thicken the stew!!
Time

This is true - it’s the way you make French beef bourguignon

I'm nearly 70 years old. I don't have the 'Time " to perfect recipes like you. Just give me a book and make this old Fella happy.
Nothing better than putting in the time and having your friend love the meal that you make.
I've cooked exactly this recipe many times but last winter my meat was awful and I think you are absolutely right that it needs to go the distance, if only I'd been patient but I had a hungry crew waiting for a feed and I went for it because happy hour had gone overtime.
