Wow a Creative infra 24 CD. These actually came with a cool remote that let you play music CDs in the drive without using Windows. Though I bet that remote is long gone. The black plastic window on the front of the drive is the remote receiver.
Indeed. Even today a CRT monitor is very useful especially for playing modern pc games with older GPUs. I still use my 980ti on a CRT and at 1280x1024 Control runs perfectly.
The box of Eidetic floppy disks caught my eye. I sent a box of 5.25 inch Eidetic floppies to a colleague in Kansas City a few months ago. She and her husband are mentoring a youngster who’d heard of them, but never seen one. I still have quite a bit of old software on both disk sizes: PageMaker 4, Sprint 1.01, MS Word 1.0, Wordstar… Time to knock together an old Socket 7 machine for a bit of fun. I recall building two using 400 MHz AMD CPUs and the then new SDRAM memory back in the day. They were more exciting than my new 24 core Threadripper that’s due for deliver mid-January.
2nd, also this is my first time watching a video so fast, notifications sometimes on my old phone arrived a day later, on my new one all notifications on videos are instant
If you want the computer to stay white go get some high quality auto wax and coat all the plastic with it. Let it sit and dry the wipe it off. The wax will give the plastic a layer of uv protection and will prevent yellowing. Over time you may want to apply again in a year or so.
Hey psivewri can you please try to carefully disassemble the ipod frame and reassemble the ipod to see if it works🥺🥺🥺pleaseeee do this i am reallly curious
There used to be a Christmas game that just literally was a low res snow ball fight.. although I feel like it may be was later than Windows 98? NetZero, AOL, 98-XP, Script Kiddie programs is all kind of a blur to me...
Nice find. We used to have places like this all over, although I can’t remember the names. I upgraded from a 486 to a Pentium 166 with 16 MB of ram. Those were the days. Doom, hover, and so many demo CDs from computer magazines.
This would make a fairly typical dos rig for games that are not too speed sensitive, as for early 9x gaming the S3 Trio is a bit weak but anyway one of my favorites when getting lazy is a Voodoo Rush even though there are better options.
Hey i didn't see you change the thermal compound.... You can use a programme to write Zero's to the hard drive and low level format it that could clear bad sectors... It wouldn't hurt to take memory out of a non working PC to add some or even add a better CPU if one compatible...
The Osborne keyboard brought back memories...remember when Osborne were king of the PC clones in Australia? If they hadn't forced OS/2 onto every PC they sold, they probably still would be!

I "tried" to buy a really cheap PC from my local Cashies in circa 2004. Asked for proof it powered on, and the salesperson proceeded to plug it in and flick the voltage select switch on the back of the PSU while trying to power it on and popped it... It was some old Compaq Deskpro with a Celeron? They only wanted like $30 for it even then.
Ahhh... Yes. Compaq used bad PSU's at some point, to save money, when they began to loose market share. They were wonderfull machines from 386 era to late 486 era.
probably an ex government job, somehow Compaq got a contract to supply the ADF and some states police from 2000-2003 and they were POS, they didnt even have a CPU cooler, just an enormous aluminium custom made heatsink
I had no idea that cashies are in the UK, my wife worked for cashies back in 2001 so we were able to tell how much was paid for an item by looking at the codes on the price tag...
For years I thought they were a UK based smaller competitor to CEX, But then my brother got a managers job at a local CC store and we had a random conversation about it... They are actually an Australian company and are currently the biggest second hand retailer in the world! UK based CEX is not far behind though they are global too.. CC has 700 stores and CEX has 600. But yeah there we go lol

Sorry it's boxing day 😀
Cash Converters, now that is a logo and price tag sticker I haven't seen in a LONG time.
I bought a p 150 pc with 8mb ram and a 1mb video card back in 1997. I then overclocked it to 166. I was 20 yo then, now I feel old :P
Cashies mate? That’s not a computer that’s a nugget mate!
Excellent video as always. Still severely lacking in a CRT monitor though 😁

Just more of a pain to film with my cameras 😬 Don't worry, I have CRT monitors.
Very true. CRTs are pure evil to film.
