Gobul has to be one of my favorite monsters nowadays. I remember that I had major trouble with the Barroth, and almost rage quit because of it. However, the Gobul was the highest difficulty spike for me in the entire game, so it made me quit the series for like, a week. XD

I always site Barroth as my first wall and Diablos as my second, but I think Gobul was such a wall that I keep trying to repress it from memory.

This theme was *MADE* for Gobul.
At some points, you can even here its sounds and growls (see 1:50/1:51 for an example)

funny enough whenever i come back to hear this, i'm reminded of duramboros for whatever reason.
Royal Ludroth = extreme ass
Lagiacrus = decent
Gobul = maximum assery
Funny thing i can beat gobul in 15 minute at first time without single cart, but i can take at least 20 - 25 (even 30 min at capture floaded forest quest) min to kill lagiacrus at first time with single cart :D
@Jonathan Roberts Not in the Flooded Forest, due to the murky water and small area sizes. It becomes rather tricky to fight him in most of the spots he can be in, though at least normal Lagi tends to stay clear of Area 3... UNLIKE IVORY. Fuck fighting Ivory Lagiacrus in Area 3. He's too damn huge for that spot.

holy shit that quest took me forever, it never occurred to me that I should try breaking what is quite literally the most obviously a weak spot part in the game.
I was playing through it for the first time recently and that quest almost made me quit lol

Quru and Boros were like...my arch nemesis. I remember getting hard stuck on them and almost no other fights in the game. Lagiacrus wasn't even that hard compared to them for me Lowkey. Dual blades main btw. MH3U was my first ever MH

Alfons Hedström I hate Cephadrome so much, especially how you get cephalos carves from him, not cephadrome carves, I spent 30 minutes farming CEPHALOS for CEPHALOS fins when I should have been farming a cephadrome

Blurr Technoz Well, I actually like Plesioth as a monster, I shouldn't hate him in Gen just for being big and doing tons of damage, that's what I call a good challenge. Cephadrome isn't challenging, but annoying. Plesioth isn't nearly as bad as he used to be, he's pretty good in fact, although he's still not in my top 5 monster picks.
The first time I descovered this on Spotify I was just thinking "bruh, this is not monster hunter music", but now I get it. OH MY GOG I GET IT SO MUCH! The Jaws-like strings in the back, the weird noises, everything about is SO awesome.
Unfortunately map remake in Rise looks like it was drenched in mud and then my vomit after seeing the formentioned mud.
I'll never forget how gorgeous the old Flooded Forest was, especially at night/sunset. The way the blue sky fades to the really pretty lime color in some areas was so atmospheric, but in Rise the only real color on the map is just brown, with a tiny, tiny smidge of bland dark green
They totally ruined the atmosphere of flooded forest in rise :/

Only took me 2 months. Now I just need to do the same with Gore Magala in 4 Ultimate.

Really love this theme! Very menacing. I just don't like the fights in the flooded forest. Too many stuff floating underwater, I can't see anything most of the time. And OMG, those narrow underwater corridors! DX

I love how this theme sort of sounds like a Monster Hunter Remix of the Jaws theme. Take a closer look and they actually sound kinda similar.

This song is a godsend when you hear it switch to Jho's music while fighting a Royal Ludroth.
I prefer this version over the Rise one.
The Rise one isnt bad, but Rise has the problem that the area themes all sound so heroic and less threatening. Like almost or all of them have vocals.
While area themes from older games tend to sound much more threatening, which i like more, since you are out in the wilderness hunting dangerous beasts.
Just compare this one with the rise version, or the Rise volcano theme with the Gen 3 volcano theme

(While we're on the topic why do so many people not like world's soundtrack. And some people think teostras old theme us better than his new one, like *how* !?)
@@itsboiya6948 no idea really, World's OST was the best alongside GU's for me (but I guess Rise will steal the spot from both) mainly due to the fact that most of the OST had a synths-orchestra mix (Elder recess and Rotten vale are the most notable examples) that give that solitude atmosphere that really reflect the fact that you're in a dishabitated continent, wich I don't know it's cool AF.
I think it's that atmospherical undertone that makes people feel them as "bland and unintense" (I mean, the theme that is generally least liked is the Elder recess' that is the one with the strongest ambient sounds).
Also the synths-orchestra mix was used also by Mario Galaxy and doing something like Mario Galaxy in regards of OST is great thing in kind of everyone's book.
Or maybe it's just that since World was bad everyone say it's bad the OST too because it's from the bad game.
As for the Teostra thing, I have no idea because I never liked neither (too much drum focused, never liked drum focused themes) but I really feel you because it happens the same to me with Brachydios's theme.
It's litteraly just the original, but orchestral and longer.
really it's objectively better and you mustn't have a soul for not liking the trumpet part!
Also I prefer the Rise version of the Flooded Forest's theme, the overall higher pitch makes it sound better (to me at least)

Man gobul gave me ptsd. Fist time I fought him was on my old account. I had a guidance. Man does that thing suck balls tho. Then I gave my 3ds away, got a new one, and restarted and tried out katana. Gobul was easier but then, NOOOOOOO
This brings back horrbible memories of how I always get hit by Gobuls charge in rage mode because his big ass mouth takes up all the space!!

It’s a little sad that the Rise version of this song isn’t as ’gritty’ as this one was
That's what I was thinking but I think it didn't fit in as much with the overall theme if rise, like the shrine ruins theme. So they had to make a bit less gritty. Still both are great!
I still miss the primal feel of this theme. It feels like the jungle itself is one with the song. The gurgling of gobul, the drums, and the castanets all make this song incredible
To be fair, the Rise version of the forest isn’t in monsoon season. I feel like this theme really shines underwater, which Rise doesn’t have so yeah

Yes it is..... The atmosphere ACTUALLY feels like a marshlands(dark, dull, grey and wet)... Instead of all the vivid colors of the flooded Forest.

LOL nope... Marshlands theme song is intimidating, menacing and sets a horrific tone.... This theme does the same but it isn't as effective at it as it's too repetitive and over dramaticizes the horror aspect..... Marshlands theme keeps a persistent melody while also not being repetitive alongside sounding WAY more menacing.
..... Yeah... I'll agree that the Old Swamp theme was the best swamp theme ever.

I would say it mostly relates to him being the first monster most people run into that is in the water moreso than it is on land, and underwater combat is hard to get used to.

I agree with Zindakku. This sounds great with a Gobul, like a Jaws sort of effect. Not so well with Rathian, R. Ludroth, or Lagiacrus.

@DarkDialga960 Thanks. I use both a Bowgun and a melee weapon on different occasions, usually using a Switch Axe or a Medium to Heavy Bowgun, frequenting Pellet Ammo.
Yeah, but that all depends on who you're questing with, really. The thing that gets most people is the sharp spike in difficulty from other monsters; I mean, here's the first boss ever in MH that you fight almost strictly underwater. That tends to catch a lot of people off guard, considering the last thing they likely fought was Great Jaggis, Royal Ludroths and maybe a Barroth or two.

@@HunDev_PL dire miralis with the new wirebug I think can work without underwater combat. Gobul, however... he's just a bit sad out of the water. The rivers are clearly his natural element and the only way I see him working is like with juyratodus and somnacanth. Where he fights in the water but you can't fight him there. I've never played the 3rd gen games, but the monsters and environments are some if the best in the series for me! (Also this theme is tight af)
Ever since i first fought the gobul, i realized at that moment i'm horrible with greatswords
@Sparkz1607 It CAN be difficult with the classic controller if you're using the Type-1 Swim Controls.
Switch to Type-2 and it becomes abundantly easier to manage. I'm not even fooling.
That aside, Flooded Forest is just a terrible place to fight underwater, period. All that dust in the water, and those tiny cramped spaces...

globul is hard for me with melee (switch-axe) but it was relatively easy with a heavy bowgun. it just took a really long time with the tropeco gun. go for the lantern as early as possible, it makes it a lot easier.
