I'm glad the Hunting Horn, Frostfangs' hunting horn, has this theme. Capcom didn't forget.
Would be great if This Theme used as Frostfang Theme in Special Event only. But nevermind this ost is not Barioth theme.
They used a little bit of this theme when you first see barioth, right before he jumps down to attack you actually

I got into the franchise with Stories and thought you were talking about that Rider girl's Barioth. To this day I cannot tell whether or not the shared name was on purpose.

God I remember that mining quest... Was just peacefully doing it, eating chips while wiggling my hand once in a while, didn't notice the music somehow... Next thing I know some glowing asshole is glomped over me devouring me from the freaking roof! RIP sunchips.

I remember trying to kill a gigginox in Tri. Ever since then i have completely skipped over any of her quests.
Cardboard Productions I must be the only human on planet Earth who found the gigginox super easy. Really squishy monster, get a decent fire weapon and you roast that fucker.
***** She's way too jumpy in my opinion, and mixes poison with her move set to the point that you can't tell if your going to get poisoned or not, but does have a lack of green-sharpness parts.

The PTSD from Tri's Barioth... So bad, no one wanted to hunt that thing online.
Quinton Blackburn I always found Barioth to be one of Tri's best fights. To me, Gigginox was just unrepentant bullshit all the time constantly forever.
At least Gigginox was better than that fucking Khezu.
Quinton Blackburn I found Barioth to be easy if you made a rathalos weapon first. (I used Dijnn) online was nuts, especially with lag XD.
Barioth ain't hard man. well, unless you used longsword.......

Those creepy piano glissandos and dissonances add a lot to the tension while still having a lot of tundra vibe to them
1:09-1:35 is incredible, it just blows my mind how good that part is, it's ridiculous, oh my God

As annoying as Barioth was, it is still one of my most memorable monsters in the series, enough to actually make me scream in pure joy and frustration when i finally killed him for the first time in MH Tri.

This is a really perfect theme for fighting Gigginox. It's so fearful and suspenseful.
Most vets: "Gigginox is cancer I hate him"
Me: "Poison +10 is easy to gem"

Still prefer MH3 over HM4 and MHX. Way much more fun in my opinion and the water levels were something new. Amazing!
Agreed. I loved fighting underwater. It is the oly game i was able to tolerate it XD
Underwater combat was too slow paced for my liking, it ended up just being like "ugh, I have to slog this out underwater. Let's get that out of the way so I can go back to the land fights"
I mained *Switchaxe* & *Sword & Shield* in Tri.
Underwater combat made Tri a 2-in-1 game. I hated it at 1st, but it became a ton of fun.
The Switchaxe felt _faster_ underwater, & the Bounce Bombs were an absolute dream to use!
Conquering the Lagiacrus underwater was so much more satisfying than fighting it on land.
TL;DR - It was a blast playing MH Tri.

Suck that Gigginox is replaced by old school stupid Khezu in Generation 4! Gigginox is over 9000 intimidating!

I'd rather fight a Gigginox any day. At least you can move the hell out of the way when you're poisoned. Khezu stuns you, then combos you to death in 2 sec flat

That thing is so scary!!! And that music further tells me that his poison will cripple me even more.

Capcom knew what was up with making this soundtrack as ominous as possible, the mysterious chime like noises in the background and the rapid piano playing just sounds so badass yet sinister 😮💨💯
By far one of the best area themes imo, I think my top personal favorite in no particular order is
MHTri Tundra,
MHGen Jurassic Frontier,
And MHW Rotten Vale
This person knows where it's at!
Though I would add MH1's Verdant Hills because Rathalos.
But seriously, like, Rotten Vale is disgustingly good. I've never heard a battle theme with so many different emotions, and it's the only area in the entirety of MHzw that I like the Small, Medium AND Large themes altogether.
First heard this running into a gigginox while farming ores, I was shocked by how much more grotesque & aggressive this Zhezu look alike is, and this music makes the situation 10x more intense.
Tri has a better soundtrack than 4U imo

actually the theme is called "the subzero white knight"! which references the barioth
but i agree, its kinda the gigginox theme with that piano

It's awkward cause this is supposed to be barioth's theme, but I think I'm not the only one associating it to gigginox with all that dramatic gothic piano and the almost eerie flute. Anyway I'm glad at least world holds a reference to this theme in frozen barioth's HH.

This theme sound very epic with the little piano parts. Therefore it appears like a song of a horror movie... fighting gigginox is thrilling as hell!
2:04 they used a similar progression in the rotten vale theme which is really cool, fits both themes very well

I remember when I first fought Barioth in the Tundra. Saying that he was a total pain in the a** would be terrible understatement for me. I swear, I felt like I was gonna cry!
Barioth is just likes white assassin XD it's hard to pitfall trap him but it's almost as hard to get a fricking spirit blade on him DX
Barioth i the Luchador of the monsters. He flew to a new area and hides on the top rope. When someone comes into view "ELBOW DROP!!!!" Don't let there be a wall behind him cause he will jump back and "BODY DROP OFF THE TOP ROPE!!!"
And that cheap jump he does.

I remember running into the Gigginox for the first time:
We were mining for Bloodcrystals, and I spotted the thing first. Me being the new guy who bought the game last week went, "O GOODY! NEW MONSTER!"
My friends: "O GOD! ANYTHING BUT THAT!"
They told me to go anywhere but there so they can finish the thing off! Glad we beat that thing and completed the mission! lol

this song always reminded me how once when my allies and i were chasing a mark and then 'noix appeared as an unstable.i had decided to buy time for them as i had a GS equipped despite being a LS and SnS user usually. so the blocking came in handy....... that (next to the times we dueled on harvest tours in the tundra 'plate' area) what is a situation recall most..... i have ffor years. whenever i tired to intentionally stall noix after i failed. but that one time i had stalled him and was just fine and on par alone despite being a lower HR back then (in tri)

The only good thing about farming Gigginox. Well, that and coming out of it with poisonous dual blades to beat Duramboros quicker than Lagiacrus.
This song reminds me more of Barioth since I was grinding for his parts in low rank xD (its armor works well with my ice weapon and I needed ice armor) I hated Gigginox but he's a lot easier with long range weapons than melee.
I feel like this should be Gigginox´s theme. It fits it so well..... fits a stalker creeping from the ceilings.

for me, Khezu is creepier, but Gigginox is more threatening, especially once you hear it roar and learn that it's fast for having no eyes
My anger meter just goes off the charts whenever i remember that poisonous mf called gigginox

This theme fits the Gigginox extremely well. Though the Barioth is still my favorite Tundra-native Monster, and this fits him decently well too.

Barioth jumped over me to get to Cha Cha. The camera was in the direct path of Barioth's high speed jump. It looked like he was about to jump out of the television to get me.
@wyvernfire my first encounter with the Gigginox started with him dropping on my head from the ceiling, and ended with me getting OHKO'd cuz I was wearing unupgraded leather armor for gathering at the time lol

When meeting a leaping Barioth head on, always dodge to the right. Its left arm hangs back when it strikes.

My first impression of Gigginox.
Try going into the tundra for the first time, and lighting a torch. The first thing i see is THAT thing charging at me, as this music plays. I call it Mr. Rawr. I don't know why.
This is the most epic music on the game and it's totally perfect for The Creeping Venom. A.K.A. Gigginox. >=3

in some ways easier, since the attacks don't also poison you but just straight-up damage. he even hurts himself a teeny bit with some of his attacks.

i honestly don't know why everyone dislikes barioth. both species of barioth were super easy. gigginox wasn't that bad either, provided you watched for it's poison mist attack.

@eddyokapi wasn't saying they were. Was just saying if you (reader) can't block a Barioth, he's gonna lay some serious pain on you (reader). I'll change weapons before I join a quest with everyone using same weaps.
@01Lagiacrus901 I stay close to it myself and started off using SnS on him so I could dodge his attack and read his movements as well as defend. It is quick but the most I would say you have to worry about it when he jumps across the area and charges immediatly after. If you keep your wits about you you can read his attacks rather easily. He is still tough to dodge, but that is what makes the hunt interesting =o

@lonelyguilherme Let the fishermen do the work!! LOL. Right b4 I was going to hunt him, I got some from them, THEN I needed it's poison sac... they got me one again. Gotta love the fishing fleet!

Don't care what anyone says I'd gladly fight 10 G rank Gigginoxes than a single Khezu. I've done it already to get that Armour set and I'll do it again too.
Bounce bombs only seem to actually get the Gigginox off the ceiling if it's limping away or is tired :o
I've actually blown him off the ceiling once with a bounce bomb... He waddled around for almost 20 seconds :D
