I think the most underrated aspect of third gen's music is how each song fits both of the monsters in the area. Like how the faster paced portions of this and the "clacking" make u remember Agnaktor where as the slower parts give off quote the Uragaan vibe.
Another underrated aspect is the sheer amount of PERCUSSION used in 3's music. They really made MH3 sound like all of it's battle themes were being played by a local tribe on their drums and wooden instruments.
Uragaan in MHGen is not the same without his little roller derby spot in Area 6. Really wish they brought back this Volcano instead of the one from 2nd Gen.
I just fought Uragaan for the first time a day or two ago, his pinballing everywhere really took me by surprise. "Huh? Why are you digging? Where are you going? What? Why are you up there now, out of my reach? Can I get up there? No, I guess not... Wha-? WHAT THE HECK?!"
No volcano map will ever attain the feel of 3rd gens. The theme combined with the killer scenery makes this the best period. Nothing screams volcano like this
Reina Kousika Great Jaggidoesan't appear, but Great Wroggi does. Also appearing are Volvidon, Brachydios, Steel Uragaan, Stygian Zinogre, and Crimson Qurupeco.
Uragaan just isn't right without his chin slam music... He also doesn't spam his slam as much anymore, I remember a straight five minutes of just roar and chin slam.
Holy crap, the end of the loop really gets me. The build up into the climax, ending in thick and steady layers of fast percussion... can't get enough of it.
My first time fighting Agnaktor: Me: WHOA HE LOOKS AWESOME!!! I'm definitely making his armor set!!! *weapon bounces off him* Me: LOL NOPE. *abandons quest* Edit: Omg guys, it's been 6 years. Of course I've beaten it by now. Since my MH3U days, I've learned how his armor works, and I now main every weapon (with a focus on HH, so bouncing isn't even a concern anymore)
So, I just killed my first Rathalos. It was one of the most entertaining battles of the whole game so far (just aside of Lagiacrus, who is really fun until you have to farm the Plate and the Horns).
I was fighting Los for the first time, and I remember that he flew to Area 8. When I got there, a friggin' huge lava river, and this music. I thought, "YES."
Ever time I runi into uraagan *need one more powderstone only 40 minutes left* Me:Ok doing good let me take one more cool drink -drinks *uraagan shows* Me:I have 40 minutes so LETS DO THIS *30 minutes later* Me:YES I DID IT -10 minutes left- me:FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I have nightmarish memories of doing the Powderstone offline quest back in monster hunter 1, so my first experiance with this track was the Rathalos hunt. This music + Rathalos + fighting on a massive volanic shelf surrounded by magma some 100ft above ground = very badass.
Ah, powderstone quest for the first time was great. The alert song started playing, followed by the scream/chin bashing and this song while I was still trying to figure out where the hell the monster was, then Uragaan rolled over me out of FUCKING NOWHERE almost killing me.
It is surprisingly quite long for a regular Monster Hunter map theme; the true reloop is at about 2:05 . Even though the main melody first reloops at 0:54 , there is a new part at 1:30 .
My favorite thing of this theme is the cello like instrument with these gloomy tones. I also particularly love the build up in mhfu volcano theme. The percussions in most older gen songs are amazing too, take a listen to this one or to the old teostra and rajang theme, to the second gen volcano or swamp theme, absolute bangers, you really felt in danger
I'm doing my first playthrough of GU and I was incredibly sad they didn't use this volcano map. I've never played Tri, but this theme is such a banger. Second only to Lava Caverns as my favorite mainline volcano biome theme.
The first time I saw Uragaan was during my second run through the powderstone quest. He did that all-too-common shock-wave roar and caused the powderstone to explode in my face. I ran with my tail between my legs and fetched another powderstone, only after I got halfway through Area 8 during the return trip, my cool drink wore off. Best day ever.
That's something MH3 did amazingly. Assuming you ran most of the quests in order, the game would make you run delivery and gathering quests where the monster would make a surprise appearance (much like the initial encounter with Lagiacrus) and make you wet yourself in front of them before you actually fought them. Another reason MH3 was really awesome.
oh, and while i'm thinking of it, the switch axe's overhead chop in axe mode should be high enough to his his tail standing if you don't get a giant uragaan. it's also the SA's most damaging single attack, so that's nice too!
when I read the comments here, I can't help but laugh. It's just funny and amazing at the same time, how fellow gamers enjoyed their time on MH, especially Tri. So I can't help but wonder everytime why Capcom can't see how excited people outside Japan are over MH. If they ever stop and realize their mistake, I hope a new MH will come out for the consoles soon. But it's just a matter of having patience and endure this torture#I.Hate.Capcom.Right.Now
Sitting there in my Barioth+ in the volcano, helplessly sharpening as I hear the doom-spelling beak claks of a nearby enraged Agnaktor. Scariest moment of my life. Then Deviljho showed up. Revised the list, and "you have fainted."
@ShadowTheYoshi That is exactly the same thing that happened when I first found Deviljho- except I didn't live long enough to get it into my notes! (He rolled a rock, rather than his whole body, of course)
Try capturing it? I know this comment is 4+ years old, but there are some parts you can get by capturing it, or at least have a higher chance at getting.
I know this comment is 5 years old already, but have you tried capturing the monster? I'm pretty sure you can get rarer rewards if you cap them. Thats how i got my Voltstones from Crimson Qurupeco XD
@Gunfire1012 yeah barroth was a major pain for me, but i used the great sword lv3 to take it out. all you do is put away the weapon so you can run after him or run away. With that method you could beat it with any weapon.
@TheBlueSoup Attack its beard. You'll do the most raw damage there (acrus's pitiful thunder element means it's pretty much just there to supplement damage)
@Gunfire1012 Regarding what stevieFFmaster said about fighting the Barroth. He's right. Though another good weapon to use against the Barroth is the switch ax, preferably in the sword form .
first time i saw the uragann i was doing the powderstone quest i get to the middle of 7 when it came from 6 i was like you got to be kidding me as it roars and summersaults into me i tagged it got it into my hunter notes and booked s***
Theres a ps3 MHgame but its region lock(means you have to get a japanese PS3 console in oder to play), for the psp you can get Monster hunter portable 3rd or Monster hunter freedom unite. the new complete version of tri is Monster hunter 3 G which is for the 3DS or Wii U also region locked
@Gunfire1012 Use the Ludroth Nail on him. Barroth is weak against Water when he is covered in Mud and is weak against Fire when he isnt covered in Mud. With a Water Type Weapon like the Ludroth Nail its very easy to break the Mud off the Barroth's body and he'll fall over almost all the time. I hope this helps.
Yup I know just what you mean. He was quite intimidating the first time I saw him, but he soon became one my favorite monsters to face in Tri. Don't mess with the chin! >:)
Maybe because the Uragaan expels some hot smoke from within when you are trying to hit him, also he's very big and hard to hit sometimes and his jaw makes you stagger a lot and he has high damage. The Agnaktor is a bitch but his moves can be predictable.
+TheOneWayDown it was a lot better. I also don't see how everything was improved. There is more content, sure, but it has a lot of shortcomings compared to its predecessor.
+Levobertus Well 4 has some good tracks, so I don't put 3's soundtrack THAT far above 4's. Now whether or not you think the mounting mechanic is welcome or not, the verticality of the maps made the game feel more natural and alive. Combat is a bit faster and more responsive, and two new awesome (but just a bit broken) weapons were added. I find that the games tend to improve on their last iteration, and I find this is the case for me at least. In my opinion, it's not a straight improvement, but it is a significant one.
+TheOneWayDown I think the opposite is the case. I think the mount mechanic is entirely broken and completely overpowered. The weapons are unbalanced and the monsters are lackluster or old monsters we have killed 1000 times in the old games. Hitboxes got worse, rewards are more depending on luck and less on skill, some of the maps are boring and the story is all over the place. Also, no voice chat, no ingame chat, no private messages, a stupid guild quest system and a ton of monsters that you don't even need to fight at all. I think 4u is a great game but I prefer the 3rd gen over it and think it was better.
I began my hunting in MH3U so... Mounting is a nice addition, but I just mount like 0-3 times in a fight with my friend (we aren't using insect rods). Weapon are unbalanced? Dual Dagger/SnS got buffed in elemental when they had a nerf in 3U. But It's nice to see new monster but I'm gonna agree that there is too much subspecies/similar monster... like gravios & Basarios, they are nearly similar -_- also the drome... Some of them are exception (Yian Garuga...I'm counting it as a separate species), but Ijust played MH3U and MH4U so I was happy to battle new monster. I thought Reward always depend on luck. hitboxes? excepting Akantor bullshit charge or Najarala chip damage. . No voice chat/in game chat/private message is the fault of the 3DS :| (never use voice chat, but private message SHOULD be). The map in MH3U are so big...but...well big and flat. Not that I mind. MH4U did strike me better in the terrain usage. Last note...did you like underwater battle? because I did 0_0
@zach296 well, uragaan is just like you say like barroth: cheap lance tactics lead you to the win (with guard up of course, otherwise uragaan is like ''hehe nice try, but you cannot completley block my attacks so i kill you'')
I think the most underrated aspect of third gen's music is how each song fits both of the monsters in the area. Like how the faster paced portions of this and the "clacking" make u remember Agnaktor where as the slower parts give off quote the Uragaan vibe.
Literally as I'm listening to this rn I heard the clacking and thought of the Agnaktor snapping it's mouth
Yes if fit both the map and the monsters in said map. That's why they're my favorite map osts in the series.
Same goest to tundra map. It reminds us both of giginox and barioth.
Another underrated aspect is the sheer amount of PERCUSSION used in 3's music. They really made MH3 sound like all of it's battle themes were being played by a local tribe on their drums and wooden instruments.
One of the advantages of Tri's smaller roster. They can tailor the maps and music specifically to them.
Everyone who went after the Rathalos Set: *WAR FLASHBACKS OF TRYING TO GET THAT **_ONE_** RATHALOS PLATE*
Needs some Uragaan chin percussion to really set the mood
I think it already has those.
And Agnaktor beak percussion.
i got bodied by uragaan for 40 mins
Uragaan in MHGen is not the same without his little roller derby spot in Area 6. Really wish they brought back this Volcano instead of the one from 2nd Gen.
I agree. The 2nd gen Volcano is pretty bad.
I just fought Uragaan for the first time a day or two ago, his pinballing everywhere really took me by surprise.
"Huh? Why are you digging? Where are you going? What? Why are you up there now, out of my reach? Can I get up there? No, I guess not... Wha-?
WHAT THE HECK?!"
cheffie Same with Rathlos with his area fly attack
I don't think 2nd gen volcano is bad but 3rd gen volcano is definitely better. I hate volcanic hollow tho
@@jurassicjerry2280 Fair, 4U maps are horrible.
Me: *Goes to heal and take a Cold Drink* Agnaktor: "CLAK CLAK CLAK BWEEEEE" Me: SON OF A BI-*Dead*. B[
+Matt Clarke Oldest meme in the book. But. Agnaktor: IM FIREING MY LAZZZZZZZERRRRRRRRSSSSS!!!!!!
No volcano map will ever attain the feel of 3rd gens. The theme combined with the killer scenery makes this the best period. Nothing screams volcano like this
I do agree this volcano map is the best volcano map but I think the 1st gen volcano "Volcanic Belt" has some extremely scary and fitting Volcano music
Elder’s Recess has its own special qualities what with the giant crystals and magma flows
And Dodogama
Third gen really did have that late 2000s/early 2010s nintendo charm.
Best volcano theme
mm actually this is best volcano theme th-cam.com/video/t9qUh4-DJi0/w-d-xo.html
And best volcano
i prefur this volcano than the old school volcanio for mhGen
Uragan,Rathalos,Agnaktor.
the sub species of rathalos
Actually, Azure Rathalos almost never appears in the Volcano, and Silver definitely never does
Yeah I've never had a quest where I needed to kill the sub-species of Rathaos in the Vulcano.
Reina Kousika Great Jaggidoesan't appear, but Great Wroggi does. Also appearing are Volvidon, Brachydios, Steel Uragaan, Stygian Zinogre, and Crimson Qurupeco.
Uragaan in Tri is a nigthmare in that Zone. Man, that monster was hard to kill
funnily enough i found him quite easy, i just pounded his legs and stayed towards his rear, he was too slow to ever hit me with anything
Was hard if you didn’t have blue sharpness. Even so, all you have to do is constantly target his underside.
Uragaan just isn't right without his chin slam music... He also doesn't spam his slam as much anymore, I remember a straight five minutes of just roar and chin slam.
UNAVOIDABLE CHIN MOVE!!!
The taiko drums in this theme are INSANE.
Love this music. Goes so well when facing Uragaan or Agnaktor.
Fighting rathalos with this playing in the background is always a banger definitely a masterpiece 💯
Holy crap, the end of the loop really gets me. The build up into the climax, ending in thick and steady layers of fast percussion... can't get enough of it.
My first time fighting Agnaktor:
Me: WHOA HE LOOKS AWESOME!!! I'm definitely making his armor set!!!
*weapon bounces off him*
Me: LOL NOPE. *abandons quest*
Edit: Omg guys, it's been 6 years. Of course I've beaten it by now. Since my MH3U days, I've learned how his armor works, and I now main every weapon (with a focus on HH, so bouncing isn't even a concern anymore)
Use pitfalls. They soften his armor up.
He'd posted the comment over a year before you answered... I'm guessing he probably beat him by then.
better late than never lol ( this is a year ahead reply lol )
Jett Alquiza Switch axe
@Voku F
Best volcano theme ever
th-cam.com/video/t9qUh4-DJi0/w-d-xo.html
I always think of Uragaan when this plays. I think it just fits him well.
He is the first thing you fight in there if you had tri, so yeah your right! =D
Behold the JayLenosaurus xD
*grrr* WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
*chin slamming ensues*
Let the battle begin!
Clak Clak Clak Clak- BWEEEEEEAAAARRRAAAAAGG!
So, I just killed my first Rathalos.
It was one of the most entertaining battles of the whole game so far (just aside of Lagiacrus, who is really fun until you have to farm the Plate and the Horns).
The moment you see a rolling rock and you think its a glitch but it's actually not and you get smacked the shit out of
Hearing 0:43 play while Rathalos circled me in the air was awesome
My favourite Volcano Map!
I was fighting Los for the first time, and I remember that he flew to Area 8. When I got there, a friggin' huge lava river, and this music.
I thought, "YES."
This. Is an absolute banger holy fuck i miss 3gen so much 😭
Most underrated song in the entire damned series don’t even @ me
Gen 3 soundtrack is so good, can’t even think of a single song that’s average, let alone bad.
Ever time I runi into uraagan
*need one more powderstone only 40 minutes left*
Me:Ok doing good let me take one more cool drink
-drinks
*uraagan shows*
Me:I have 40 minutes so LETS DO THIS
*30 minutes later*
Me:YES I DID IT
-10 minutes left-
me:FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I have nightmarish memories of doing the Powderstone offline quest back in monster hunter 1, so my first experiance with this track was the Rathalos hunt. This music + Rathalos + fighting on a massive volanic shelf surrounded by magma some 100ft above ground = very badass.

Forgot how hype this was
When Agnaktor makes those clacking noises before he shoots his fire beam, it's Agnaktor language for 'IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZAR!!!'
Loved this theme the first time I heard it, and I still do. Epitomizes every volcano area's theme.
It is surprisingly quite long for a regular Monster Hunter map theme; the true reloop is at about 2:05 . Even though the main melody first reloops at 0:54 , there is a new part at 1:30 .

*Sees a Uragaan charging*
HERE COMES, THE CRIMSON CHINNN!
_Agnaktor clack lazer incoming_
im back 2 years later. im still amazed.
Yes. The Jhen Mohran and Alatreon monsters are exclusive to online as well.
Having problems with Agnaktor's digging? Use a sonic bomb. Having problems with Agnaktor's fire beam? Use a flash bomb.
Simple.
I'm doing my first playthrough of GU and I was incredibly sad they didn't use this volcano map. I've never played Tri, but this theme is such a banger. Second only to Lava Caverns as my favorite mainline volcano biome theme.
If only the actual cereal "Snap, Crackle, Pop!" Used this song for their advertising
when this starts playing, you know your fucked!
I love it from from 0:42 to 0:53 the drums in the backround go in timing with Jay Leno's chin pound moves.
I'm legitimately pissed that they didn't bring this back for World.
This song fits Agnaktor very well.
this is like my fave mh3 theme (besides the tundra one)
I HOPE TO THE HIGH HEAVENS Capcom makes this the official Uragaan theme in MHW with a little twist
Keion Bradley nah dude that’s agnaktors theme people are talking about
But then this plays when fighting jay Leno (uragaan) to so yeah I hope so
It's a great feeling when you get this dude down for the count. :D
5 minutes left!! And... Victory!
Ahhh the memories it's quite nice to go down memory lane ☺️ other then the fact that I got run over by uragaan alot xD
*Sound of the Great Mountain - Agnaktor* (soundtrack name)
The first time I saw Uragaan was during my second run through the powderstone quest. He did that all-too-common shock-wave roar and caused the powderstone to explode in my face. I ran with my tail between my legs and fetched another powderstone, only after I got halfway through Area 8 during the return trip, my cool drink wore off. Best day ever.

The mini Uragaan was the shit.
Me: "Awwwh, like at him, he's gonna try and roll at us
*starts going really fast*
o.o;;
*Turns sharply*
Shi-!!!
"the phantom uragaan"
Favorite fire zone in monster hunters
*Uragaan:* whatchu mining, human?
oh, and while i'm thinking of it, the switch axe's overhead chop in axe mode should be high enough to his his tail standing if you don't get a giant uragaan. it's also the SA's most damaging single attack, so that's nice too!

Village Quests maybe... yup Village quests
Who here after rampage trailer in rise but there no CLAK-CLAK-CLAK spotted
The volcano in Rise is a new map but its perfect for Agnaktor sure he will come back
0:57 When you stub your toe
About 3 years old. Release was some time in 2009.
*Starts to sharpen longsword with whetstone*
Agnaktor:Clak Clak Clak Clak
Hunter:AW THATS BULLSH-*Cut off as your blasted by lava beam*
*clackclackclackclackclack*
*_LASER_*
been grinding agnaktors trying to get one more beak.........just one more........please?
Claws were much more painful to get =_=
+Levobertus ^THIS.
Been there. Seems like most weapons and armor use him. So annoying to repeat those Quests. But we still do it :3
Try capturing it? I know this comment is 4+ years old, but there are some parts you can get by capturing it, or at least have a higher chance at getting.
I know this comment is 5 years old already, but have you tried capturing the monster? I'm pretty sure you can get rarer rewards if you cap them. Thats how i got my Voltstones from Crimson Qurupeco XD
Horde of the Damned theme
@Gunfire1012 yeah barroth was a major pain for me, but i used the great sword lv3 to take it out. all you do is put away the weapon so you can run after him or run away. With that method you could beat it with any weapon.
@Ryan91487 its the event music theme, but i cant refer you to any videos, because i dont think any one posted it.
@TheBlueSoup Attack its beard. You'll do the most raw damage there (acrus's pitiful thunder element means it's pretty much just there to supplement damage)
@Gunfire1012
Regarding what stevieFFmaster said about fighting the Barroth. He's right.
Though another good weapon to use against the Barroth is the switch ax, preferably in the sword form .
*sees Uragaan charging while sharpening sword*
"Ah, shit!! No, no!! Go the other way, dumbass!!!!" lol XD
I definitely enjoy solo-fighting Rathalos with this theme, I should challenge him to a rematch soon.
Monster Hunter 3 ultimate was just announced at nintendo's NYC wii u press event
first time i saw the uragann i was doing the powderstone quest i get to the middle of 7 when it came from 6 i was like you got to be kidding me as it roars and summersaults into me i tagged it got it into my hunter notes and booked s***
Fuckin Agnaktor destoyed me with his shoop da woop
...
Friend: Alt, be careful of Uragan mouth!!!!
I: What? -Smashed in to the ground by Uragan-
Friend: Don´t say that i didn´t warn you...
If i had a pet Uragaan, i'd call him Terry.
@noodleboy92
ITS A FIRING ITS LAZER!!
such an epic song.
My ranking of MH's volcano themes:
1. This
2. Elder's Recess
3. Volcano (MHFU)
4. Volcanic Hollow
5. Old Volcano
6. Volcano (MHF2)
I agree, but now I will put Rise one as second
Where would you rank the Lava Caverns theme from Rise?
@MarcusRaybrandt1993 Use Great Swords. I cut Agna +'s tail off in two and a half minutes with the help of a trap and a hammer stun.
Lol I remember the first time I faced the Uragan in tri, he used to be the bane of my existence. Chin slam!
I remember I watched my brother play it and he says,
Look! That rock is moving!
Wait, is it?....
Oh shit, oh shit, OH SHIT!
Yup I know just what you mean. He was quite intimidating the first time I saw him, but he soon became one my favorite monsters to face in Tri. Don't mess with the chin! >:)
Lol one of my most HATED monsters is............. just guess. PLEISIOTH HIPCHECK ONE SHOT HAXER
Green or regular.......just kidding it doesn't matter because that hip check is always broken and his tail whip as well
XD,
#UragaanHasSnakeHips
Since he's getting all his jokes from the internet now, I'm actually surprised he hasn't found the Urugaan yet.
*Doing powderstone quest*
Me: YES I FINALLY GOT THE LAST ONE!
*In area 5*
*Boss sees me and hits me*
*Drops powderstone*
Me: GOD DAMMIT!
@Godotcoffeestorm ye i was in a battle without the trap or hammer stun i use switch axes to cut tails off
Maybe because the Uragaan expels some hot smoke from within when you are trying to hit him, also he's very big and hard to hit sometimes and his jaw makes you stagger a lot and he has high damage.
The Agnaktor is a bitch but his moves can be predictable.
I think that the hunters used captured Agnaktors to make the this music. :D
the guitar makes this a perfect song in my opinion.
Another proof of why 3rd gen > 4th gen
Just the soundtrack is a bit better for 3rd imo, everything else was improved.

Tip for powderstone quest hunt uragaan first. You only need to watch renoplos and urokers
it's like an espionage theme, that's what it sounds like
Agnaktor needs to be in another MH game with a remaster of this theme
@zach296 well, uragaan is just like you say like barroth: cheap lance tactics lead you to the win (with guard up of course, otherwise uragaan is like ''hehe nice try, but you cannot completley block my attacks so i kill you'')
Way better than 4 !!!!!
@alz0ne
I know. I only realized that after we started...
Sounds like BGM for a High tension espionage Mission
