"Ceadeus goes by many names; "shining giant of the depths", "great sea dragon", "moon of the sea", "new moon", and "sea god". Some legends see this elder dragon as the bringer of prosperity, while others see it as a bad omen or disaster waiting to happen." "Near Moga Village are ancient ruins at the bottom of the sea left behind by Moga Chief's ancestors. His ancestors built a village right on top of those old ruins, but a string of earthquakes destroyed that civilization." "The earthquakes that occurred a long time weren't caused by seismic activity but by Ceadeus rubbing its horn on the seafloor. One of Ceadeus's horns was overgrown, and it was trying to sharpen or wear down the horn to make it more manageable for itself." "While it was rubbing the horn on the seafloor with its unimaginable strength, it caused earthquakes to occur across the Moga Region, and tsunamis would occur shortly after said earthquakes as well." "Although Ceadeus doesn't intentionally try to harm anything with its grooming activities, it's strong enough to sink islands and destroy nearby villages with those disasters if it is left unchecked. While calm in nature, a Ceadeus can be quite destructive to an ecosystem." "Completely aquatic in nature, Ceadeus uses its front fins and massive tail to swim through the water with ease. While usually a slow swimmer, Ceadeus can torpedo through the water with surprising speed." "On its neck is fur that forms a sort of beard under the monster's jaws. Ceadeus uses this fur to cultivate and farm symbiotic algae within its beard. Despite its aquatic nature, it does need to surface for air occasionally, but it likely doesn't need too often due to the algae." "Ceadeus uses the algae to produce oxygen for itself, allowing it to breathe underwater. A Ceadeus can stay underwater for several days or longer without needing to surface for air. It's even been theorized that a Ceadeus could stay hidden under the depths of the sea for months." "If Ceadeus can stay underwater for that long, it could explain why it took so long to discover the colossal elder dragon. Noticeably, Ceadeus's glowing organs can sometimes be seen on certain portions of the monster's body, and this luminous plays a part in its breathing." "Inside of Ceadeus's body is luminous organs that glow for unknown reasons. These organs seem to hold incredible power, and the light they produce causes a luminescent bacteria found on the monster's hide to glow brightly." "Ceadeus uses the glow produced by the bacteria and the carbon dioxide it exhales for a form of photosynthesis, allowing it to grow the symbiotic algae that it uses for oxygen to breathe underwater for long periods of time." "The glow from Ceadeus's luminescent bacteria also attracts large schools of fish to its location, which is the reason why some fishermen think the elder dragon brings good fortune wherever it appears." "Ceadeus isn't very aggressive until it is provoked. It'll use its entire body as a weapon against threats, including its massive horns. It'll also suck in large amounts of water before exhaling a giant current out of its mouth." "Not much is known about Ceadeus's breeding habits. Nakarkos is known to occasionally eat Ceadeus pups, but the same can't be said about an adult Ceadeus." "Ceadeus's skin is remarkably solid, while its scales are too large to be called scales. Its massive tail symbolizes peace. Its crooked horn was formed over ages and evinces all weight of history. Many rings can be found inside of its horn, possibly revealing Ceadeus's old age." I remember seeing this thing for the first time and just being like "Holy fucking shit..." Monster Hunter is able to tap into the feelings and instincts that our species hasn't really felt since the days when giant sloths and cave bears roamed the earth. The feeling of encountering a huge and deadly beast and at first just getting this feeling of awe and then thinking "Alright, how am I gonna kill this thing".
Anchor Tea tfw you realize you have to "chop his beard off". Ridiculous. The rest of the fight was epic, though. But seriously, it was like he didn't even notice you or give a shit about you until you got him into the final area.
The True Correct Guy haha, that's so true! But weirdly enough, part of me doesn't wanna kill it either. Or.. no that's wrong. I wanna kill it, but I want it to live too, if that makes any sense.

First time I heard the boss music was when my roommate fought Caedeus before me. For some reason, it didn't really click for me that first time. THEN I fought the beast on my own, and was completely blown away by the whole experience. The grand atmosphere, boss, and this MUSIC... It's just too good. I don't know what I originally had against this theme, but it got annihilated with that epic boss fight. So satisfying.
Ceadeus is such a tragic monster. He just wanted to clip off his horns since they started getting too big, so he rammed them into some rocks. He diddnt even cause the earthquakes on purpose. So next time your town sends you to hunt a Ceadeus, let it get away.
Canonically, you never killed it Only repel it and the subsequent optional quest where you can slay it was pretty much non-canon from story perspective at least
@@ekosubandie2094 i don't know if This Is Right, i never played MHTri, but i read This in another comment some Time ago Goldbeard Ceadeus is the same Ceadeus from the Story, but after breaking His horn, both horns have grown at the same pace and entirely covered both eyes?

The fact that you're under water while this is playing just adds to the awesome ambiance that the song already brings. Man, this takes me back. Still gotta get a 2ds to play MH4U, can't wait.
It makes sense that this is the "battle theme", because the first half of the hunt Ceadeus barely notices you. It's only after you've clipped its beard that it acknowledges you as a threat. Good thing you only needed to break its overgrown horn in the canon hunt.
~You find yourself, sitting among the water, staring at calm blue currents. You remember the look of the villagers when you very first arrived on that island, their fear and distress pained you. But you eased their pain, you gave them a fighting chance. You are their hunter. Get ready, this is what you've been fighting towards since that day. Are you ready, hunter?~
First time fighting this thing, Cha-Cha wouldn't give me air. I spent half the fight trying to heal out of the drowning, and finished with 30s to spare.
everybody fails on the first time thinking cha-cha's mask is needed, after seeing bubbles and the fact that with oxy supplies I could handle it, I changed cha-cha's mask, that thing was useless
I remember, with this being my first combat and monster hunter game, of being scared of the Great Jaggi quest (I ran around with my SNS for like 20 minutes before accepting the quest, lol). It was an almost hour-long quest for me, and the timer very nearly ran out towards the end. I was watching, avoiding attacks, and learning. After that hunt, I felt so proud, and I knew I was now a Monster Hunter. How many years later? I've found so much joy in all succeeding games (mainly World, Rise, and Stories). OMG. Set-building is so great. I loved the "small" roster of Tri, because it allowed me to memorize every armor piece's stats and combine them at will. I mastered Tri (3k hours and a set for every monster). I loved it- at that point, it was meditation, it was dancing with a foe, and a team. Cont. I wish we had been allowed to play with other countries in that game (JP, anyone?) The JP always collaborated AMAZINGLY WELL as a team. I'll never forget the 500+ times fighting, online, with the same team, for hours though, to get the Great Baggi's tiny gold crown. Ah, the good old days.
I never liked the underwater fights but this final battle combined with this song ITS LIKE THE WHOLE VILLAGE DEPENDS ON YOU AND THEY ARE FIGHTING WITH YOU. TRULLY EPIC !
Over 9 Years I'm still listening this to fight Monster on Iceborn, it's always the thing that "Made my Day" BTW the Best Fight to Do If you missed it, go for it. #WaterFight
The monster hunter series has rarely explored what the seas and oceans of this world are like and all the marine life within them. Only MH 3 touched upon this.
Damn, this song reminds me of early days of MH, Elder Dragon fights were so amazing and glorious... But nowadays, they're so many of them i even lost count... Still, when I first heard this song, my blood starts to pump and beats faster everytime, thus Ceadeus remains as one of the most underrated monsters in MH...
You sought shelter from the storm, as the sea crashed against both sides of your ship.... that's the moment when you saw the might of nature, and it's merciless temper, when a towering wall of water, taller than any creature you faced before, rose just a few meters in front of your weeping eyes. You didn't hear, saw or felt the moment when everything you knew was swallowed by the rage of the waters... sinking, you cursed yourself... you severed the wings of the king of the skies... you bathed in the blood of the lord of the oceans... yet still... the mother to all got the best of you... did she? In a last breath you opened your eyes to contemplate the deeps that will be your undoing, here, in the darkness, you were face to face, with a true god.
Youre not, but there's only a few of you. I didn't want it back until rise. The new mobility convinces me they could have a fresh new take on underwater combat.
maybe if every weapon didnt feel like absolute shit underwater, more people would miss it. but its likely to not come back, leave it in the 3rd gen games please.
Ah yes. Giant hairy punching bag and giant hairy GOLD punching bag. Occasionally known as "focus on the horns and stop beating on its stomach you idiots"... and sometimes "keep the n00bs away from the dragonator already!".
Bradley Doesnt Give A Fox Like people don't know that the main reason we fight these things is to collect the bodyparts... and breakable parts = more bodyparts.
Percival917 I don't hate the dragonator. I just know that the opportunities for its use are VERY limited... and there are no shortage of idiots nubs who will go and hit the button just because it is there and they want to know what it does... which basically wastes a prime opportunity to break monster-parts. It is still as prevalent in MH4U as it was in 3U... v_v It'll probably be the same in X as well.
SotiCoto *nods* I thought it was because it misses so often and easily. That's my experience with it, at least. It's insanely difficult to time properly.
I like to think the intense, but calm and steady flow of the song reflects more on Ceadeus' mindset- a true king of the ocean. Even the name of the song feels accurate- Moonquake / Ceadeus' Fury- kings don't often show outright rage. They're often still orderly with their disposition, striking out when their people are in danger or they themselves are threatened. Ceadeus is a true king of the sea. You are but a peashooter tasked with *somehow* taking this magnificent ruler down. The King who sits upon the Throne of the Abyss. Absolutely badass- and I've only ever seen my girlfriend fight him.

"Although Goldbeard Ceadeus's relationship to the standard Ceadeus is unknown, and despite it being considered a subspecies, it's likely the same species as Ceadeus. Goldbeard Ceadeus is most likely just a very old Ceadeus whose body color has changed over the years." "Like Ceadeus, Goldbeard Ceadeus has luminescent bacteria and algae on its body, but, compared to Ceadeus, this subspecies has way more of the bacteria on its skin and algae in its beard." "Goldbeard Ceadeus's body color is theorized to be caused by an excessive amount of luminescent bacteria developing on its skin, making it glow a shiny gold in color, while its beard contains more algae than usual." "Because Goldbeard Ceadeus has more bacteria and algae on its body, it can live in deeper and darker waters without needing to surface for air very often. In fact, Goldbeard Ceadeus likely doesn't have to surface for air at all since it has grown so much algae in its beard." "Noticeably, both of Goldbeard Ceadeus's horns are overgrown and cover the monster's eyes. Despite its eyes being covered, Goldbeard Ceadeus can somehow still accurately "see" the position of a threat. It's unknown if this elder dragon has some other sense that allows it to do so." Ceadeus was seriously one of the very few bosses in Monster Hunter that actually felt like a true final battle to the game. Then they brought out another one, Glavenus, and that one felt like another true final battle. I do miss Ceadeus though. I like the final cutscene of Ceadeus before it fleas. Though what would have made it even better of a battle is if Ceadeus trashes the village calling in the aid of even more hunters. Then they could get into a final story tale of the hunters being slaughtered before it's the players turn to take it on. Though nonetheless, it was an amazing battle.
When I first played Tri I finished all village quests and thought that was it. Till I got wireless internet and connected my wii... found out about high rank then meeting Alatreon. Epic. Every monster hunter I’ve played will always be my treasured game.
A little late sorry. I played Gen first and went backwards from Gen to 4U, then to 3U. They're all hard in their own way, just different ways. Gen had the wonky difficulty that made no sense, 4U had Apex, and 3U had swimming. I honestly have been having the easiest time with 3U. 4U was the most fun. Gen was the most difficult, as they give you monsters that play very much like G Rank without actually giving you G Rank gear. But that's just from a new player's perspective, I'm not much of a veteran.

"The earthquakes that occurred a long time weren't caused by seismic activity but by Ceadeus rubbing its horn on the seafloor. One of Ceadeus's horns was overgrown, and it was trying to sharpen or wear down the horn to make it more manageable for itself."
"While it was rubbing the horn on the seafloor with its unimaginable strength, it caused earthquakes to occur across the Moga Region, and tsunamis would occur shortly after said earthquakes as well."
"Although Ceadeus doesn't intentionally try to harm anything with its grooming activities, it's strong enough to sink islands and destroy nearby villages with those disasters if it is left unchecked. While calm in nature, a Ceadeus can be quite destructive to an ecosystem."
"Completely aquatic in nature, Ceadeus uses its front fins and massive tail to swim through the water with ease. While usually a slow swimmer, Ceadeus can torpedo through the water with surprising speed."
"On its neck is fur that forms a sort of beard under the monster's jaws. Ceadeus uses this fur to cultivate and farm symbiotic algae within its beard. Despite its aquatic nature, it does need to surface for air occasionally, but it likely doesn't need too often due to the algae."
"Ceadeus uses the algae to produce oxygen for itself, allowing it to breathe underwater. A Ceadeus can stay underwater for several days or longer without needing to surface for air. It's even been theorized that a Ceadeus could stay hidden under the depths of the sea for months."
"If Ceadeus can stay underwater for that long, it could explain why it took so long to discover the colossal elder dragon. Noticeably, Ceadeus's glowing organs can sometimes be seen on certain portions of the monster's body, and this luminous plays a part in its breathing."
"Inside of Ceadeus's body is luminous organs that glow for unknown reasons. These organs seem to hold incredible power, and the light they produce causes a luminescent bacteria found on the monster's hide to glow brightly."
"Ceadeus uses the glow produced by the bacteria and the carbon dioxide it exhales for a form of photosynthesis, allowing it to grow the symbiotic algae that it uses for oxygen to breathe underwater for long periods of time."
"The glow from Ceadeus's luminescent bacteria also attracts large schools of fish to its location, which is the reason why some fishermen think the elder dragon brings good fortune wherever it appears."
"Ceadeus isn't very aggressive until it is provoked. It'll use its entire body as a weapon against threats, including its massive horns. It'll also suck in large amounts of water before exhaling a giant current out of its mouth."
"Not much is known about Ceadeus's breeding habits. Nakarkos is known to occasionally eat Ceadeus pups, but the same can't be said about an adult Ceadeus."
"Ceadeus's skin is remarkably solid, while its scales are too large to be called scales. Its massive tail symbolizes peace. Its crooked horn was formed over ages and evinces all weight of history. Many rings can be found inside of its horn, possibly revealing Ceadeus's old age."

I remember seeing this thing for the first time and just being like "Holy fucking shit..." Monster Hunter is able to tap into the feelings and instincts that our species hasn't really felt since the days when giant sloths and cave bears roamed the earth. The feeling of encountering a huge and deadly beast and at first just getting this feeling of awe and then thinking "Alright, how am I gonna kill this thing".
We all had that same feeling....
Anchor Tea tfw you realize you have to "chop his beard off". Ridiculous. The rest of the fight was epic, though. But seriously, it was like he didn't even notice you or give a shit about you until you got him into the final area.
Rin Tezuka chopping his beard too early makes him go into the rage stage faster, it's better to break his hood and tail first
Sort of agree. I wasn't sure if I could EVER beat it when I ran into it for the first time on Tri, and it was certainly intimidating.

So satisfying.

the music is the best on this fight. the ceadeus itself is boring

Ceadeus is such a tragic monster. He just wanted to clip off his horns since they started getting too big, so he rammed them into some rocks.
He diddnt even cause the earthquakes on purpose.
So next time your town sends you to hunt a Ceadeus, let it get away.
Canonically, you never killed it
Only repel it and the subsequent optional quest where you can slay it was pretty much non-canon from story perspective at least
@@ekosubandie2094 i don't know if This Is Right, i never played MHTri, but i read This in another comment some Time ago

The fact that you're under water while this is playing just adds to the awesome ambiance that the song already brings. Man, this takes me back. Still gotta get a 2ds to play MH4U, can't wait.
Only works for 3ds
It says on the box that it works with a 2ds. But me and my brother each got a new 3ds instead.

WE NEED CEADEUS BACK PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF G O D
Water combat in general should come back, it is so wrong to fight Lagiacrus on land 100% of the time. I want to fight the spark gator in the ocean.
it won't happen
You know there was air bubbles right?
I was playing in the sun and could barely see. So no.
everybody fails on the first time thinking cha-cha's mask is needed, after seeing bubbles and the fact that with oxy supplies I could handle it, I changed cha-cha's mask, that thing was useless

Lagiacrus the king of the sea
Ceadeus:hold my beard
I love how the "left-over" bass after each drumbeat makes it sound like you're hearing it underwater
I never liked the underwater fights but this final battle combined with this song
ITS LIKE THE WHOLE VILLAGE DEPENDS ON YOU AND THEY ARE FIGHTING WITH YOU.
TRULLY EPIC !
12 year old me was freaking terrified of this guy, the music made me think i was fighting against a freaking god
Makes me sad to think Ceadus will probably never come back in the series. ;(
I wanna cry from the nostalgia. I used to listen to this theme and act as if I was Ceadeus when I was little. The memories.
That's a wonderful and beautiful memory. Monster Hunter is a really good series.
It's a shame we will most likely not be seeing Ceadeus again any time soon.
If MH6 brought back underwater combat there's a chance we might see his grand return in glorious HD there
Over 9 Years
I'm still listening this to fight Monster on Iceborn, it's always the thing that "Made my Day"

The monster hunter series has rarely explored what the seas and oceans of this world are like and all the marine life within them. Only MH 3 touched upon this.
i miss the water battles, and i bet they would've been done vastly better in mhw

batenkaitosfan where did you learn this?
batenkaitosfan so the lyrics are pretty much gibberish?
I heard that these are Wyverian?
I can't be the only one who misses water combat, wished they brought it back.

+SotiCoto Why do all the expert monster hunters hate the Dragonator? I'm curious.
Percival917 I don't hate the dragonator. I just know that the opportunities for its use are VERY limited... and there are no shortage of idiots nubs who will go and hit the button just because it is there and they want to know what it does... which basically wastes a prime opportunity to break monster-parts.
It is still as prevalent in MH4U as it was in 3U... v_v
It'll probably be the same in X as well.

"Although Goldbeard Ceadeus's relationship to the standard Ceadeus is unknown, and despite it being considered a subspecies, it's likely the same species as Ceadeus. Goldbeard Ceadeus is most likely just a very old Ceadeus whose body color has changed over the years."
"Like Ceadeus, Goldbeard Ceadeus has luminescent bacteria and algae on its body, but, compared to Ceadeus, this subspecies has way more of the bacteria on its skin and algae in its beard."
"Goldbeard Ceadeus's body color is theorized to be caused by an excessive amount of luminescent bacteria developing on its skin, making it glow a shiny gold in color, while its beard contains more algae than usual."
"Because Goldbeard Ceadeus has more bacteria and algae on its body, it can live in deeper and darker waters without needing to surface for air very often. In fact, Goldbeard Ceadeus likely doesn't have to surface for air at all since it has grown so much algae in its beard."
"Noticeably, both of Goldbeard Ceadeus's horns are overgrown and cover the monster's eyes. Despite its eyes being covered, Goldbeard Ceadeus can somehow still accurately "see" the position of a threat. It's unknown if this elder dragon has some other sense that allows it to do so."

I love how this melody and theme is subtly interjected into various sections of the game. There's a laid back version of the melody that plays in the port I believe and then it all leads up to this banger in the Ceadeus boss battle. Pretty brilliant stuff.

I didnt hate underwater fights.... I hated that every underwater monster but Gobul had the same moveset!!!!
Don't forget a majority of those monsters are Leviathans, and they share the same move set besides Plesioth,Gobul, and Dire Miralis.
+Albert Keinstein thats how monster hunter works for the most part, most of them were leviathans and when a monster shares the same class as another they share moves too
+Rii you re not the only person ^^
Yeah. to me the thing that was bad was the kinda clunky feel to it. But as I mained lance at the time underwater difficulty wasnt really hard at all. I think it can be improved on and brough tback
but literally every flying wyvern have the same moves aswell, both leviathans and flying wiyerns have their unique moves too ffs.
For some reason it really gives me the vibe of an actual “ancient dragon”
I'M GONNA FIGHT THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
You haven't seen dire miralis...
HeadySettyOfGames SH*T!
HeadySettyOfGames dire miralis is so easy, i solo him 9 times, i kill him 9 times
Cyril Gautray I've now killed the Ceadeus 10-20 times in one day!

Correction:
Shit
Those percussions at the beginning... They talk directly to your heart, and they say you're in front of a Deity
Anyone here for some nostalgia?
My first Elder Dragon.I really miss him,Alatreon,Lagiacrus,Royal Ludroth and Jhen Mohran
@@JustYourFriendlyLuluCultist What about Qurupeco, Gobul and Gigginox?
@@knightsteyri9110 Qurupeco best monster
Ceadeus was seriously one of the very few bosses in Monster Hunter that actually felt like a true final battle to the game.
Edge Valmond Yeah Ceadus really fell like a Final boss
Epic theme,Epic arena,Epic design
Shagaru has Epic in Design but okay on theme and Meh on arena
So much nostalgia, god I love this game
we need more of these kind of themes for future monster hunter games
I beat this bastard with TWO seconds to spare. >D
Pfft, luck, I call it skill! -jk-
I kinda call it hack, no way to kill it within two seconds. Unless you play the quest two times. But one run for quest, not.
2 seconds left before the quest fails
I repelled it just as my time was almost over
repelled with 0:00
When I first heard this music I was like “holy shit, this is getting me amped as hell” and it still does, no matter how many times I listen to it
“No you clearly don’t know who you’re hunting, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Hunter. I am the danger.” -Ceadeus
First elder dragon I've ever faced
To remember the old days of this beast... I'm already a wise old man.
When I first played Tri I finished all village quests and thought that was it. Till I got wireless internet and connected my wii... found out about high rank then meeting Alatreon. Epic. Every monster hunter I’ve played will always be my treasured game.
Avec l'Amatsumagatsuchi (ouf j'y suis arrivé XD), je n'arrive pas à les départager ! ;'') Que d'EPICS souvenirs !! :''D
The lyrics are like a given SOAD song. I dont know what theyre saying, but ill sing along anyways!
+Athanase48067 nailed it.
Same old thing!
I love this song! There really is a lot of emotion in it. It makes you want to save the village, and it makes you want to slay the beast!
This music say you fight against a god
Thank you for keeping this song here, literally all I could find
I want this back ...
The Ceadeus is my favorite monster and his theme is one of the best.
Sincerely Otaku , Safi Jiifa in Monster Hunter world is second best
Anyone that hunts Ceadeus just for the music?
TheRwbyKing 2014 everybody do it plus i like underwater mechanics
I go back to MH3U just for this song xD
This poor guy was just vibing
I loved the water combat. actually was a challenge. and with each new Monster hunter, the games get so much easier to play
Or maybe you are simply getting better at the game? Yea Generations is easier than 3U, but it's not just because of the game.
Elise Cavenaugh Gen difficult? GEN DIFFICULT?
Freedom 1,2,and Unite player(Including me) witness more bad stuff than gen

Ima be honest, when i played this and fought ceadeus for the first time... he hit the top tier list of favorite things to fight along side fatalis, dire miralis (when i fought him) and rajang
His arena, his theme... i loved it
But then i quite literally flailed my gs around and beaten him on my second try (First try was a fail do to triple carting)
this music rlly brings out the game
anyone actually go through the pain of killing this with rathalos Armor like me? lol
Joshua Henry-Price I used Lagiacrus armor, that swimming buff makes the whole fight much easier (I did use the Rathalos Greatsword though)
Joshua Henry-Price Yeah man lagiacrus set demolishes these
I grinded goldbeard in uragaan armor, with the swimming negative skill active... somehow went SWIMMINGLY. (I hate myself for that)
I used Rathalos armor. I failed in my first attempt, barely succeeded in my second.
HOLY CRAP IM NOT THE ONLY ONE this comment 3 years old and just made my freaking night rathalos armor looked so badass amd was my main armor set through most every play through of the game after I killed the rathalos Whew that brings back some memories and used a bone bludgeon + as my weapon I killed it with
i remember when i first did this fight with my friend at like 12 or something, with street pass on 3DS
I want them to play this shit, when Im dead and my corpse is drifting away on a little boat in the water, while its burning down. LIKe A VIKINg, BITCH!
