    Looks cool, sounds cool, but $1600 for the pair just seems so expensive for what it is. For that price you’d have some fair options for tube hybrid bass heads, and some real quality bass cabinets. If you were willing to wait for a good second hand deal you could get an ampeg V4B half stack, or a beat up fridge cab and a really nice head

    • @zulu5157
      @zulu5157 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      On the thomann website the price is 875 € for this amp. So there is enough budget left to get a good bassbox when your budget is 1600 $. Don' t forget all the options the amp offers. So other pedals are not really necessary.

    So would it make sense to put this on top of my boss katana 210 bass amp? If it’s the same thing do I need it? Or would it improve my amp

  • @jmasno5
    @jmasno5 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I own both Katana 110 and 210 combos. Great amps. I'm having a hard time understanding why they choose a 4ohm and 8ohm output. I would think a 2 ohm and 4 ohm would be more logical. I regularly stack a 4 and 8 ohm cabinet together. My amp is switchable to 2 ohms. Yeah, the price is beyond gear money stash.

    Unlike the video Boss released, you've actually got some low end out of this amp. Thank you.
    Still, I can't see me replacing my gear with this... doing so would be a backwards move IMO.
    I don't need all the gimmickry and there's to much to go wrong and it's way under powered.

    • @MadMagicPaul
      @MadMagicPaul 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These days the cost of them would be too close to make it worth buying a lower wattage one, and they have a volume control anyway. Class D amps don't really cost any different whether they are 200w or 1000w. Different price points are just marketing now. Nothing to do with unit cost.

      Also….why are the bass combos so much more expensive than the guitar amps. Another point is weight, that 210 combo is a horrific weight for a 160 watt amp. The guitar amps are featherweight, I just don’t get how the bass player gets the shitty end of the stick?

    I’m sorry, but when new gear has the oldest version of a USB port, I’m wondering where else they cut corners.

    • @何朴域
      @何朴域 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m sorry, but I disagree with you on this. Allow me to explain. Newer physical USB port designs doesn’t always outweigh older port designs, depending on its usage and scenarios. There are specific reasons for many audio companies to keep using type-B rather than newest port, I assume you refer to type-C, till today, and it’s not because they cut corners. Let’s think about what matters for any cable port for communication. Yes, the newer port designs usually support better protocols, higher data rates, and so on. However, the physical structure of the port itself still plays a huge role, when you have to install it on devices for specific usages. NO, devices such as bass ampheads don’t have to have a wastefully expensive and sophisticated thunderbolt port like a MacBook Pro, because it’s not a MacBook Pro which is meant to need such a high data rate. The type-B port supports way enough for a tone editing software. But YES, devices such as bass ampheads do want to have a type-B port over a type-C port, due to the fact that the physical structure of type-B is way more durable and reliable than that of type-C, under specific circumstances that only devices such as amp-heads will be: namely, live and studio situations. To be honest, when having a nice manufactured type-B port that’s super tight on my audio interface, I can literally grab the usb cable and lift my interface without having the type-B cable disconnect from the port. To the extremes: if whatever horrible happened to my gear, type-B port can ensure that the cable is still rigidly connected even the gear itself might be broken at most the time. For a type-C port, I don’t think it can handle stuff like that. Imagining that during a live session, a type-B port is hundreds times more reliable than a type-C. I guess you also concerned about the gradually lowered accessibility to the older ports and cables due to the existence of newer ones and thought about that will cause your inconveniences. But let me help you on this, because of reasons I just told, the older ports will never be completely replaced by the newer ones since there will always be stuff (like I said, audio gears, etc.) that prefers them. Analogy of tubes: tubes were out on 99% of electronic devices and were replaced by transistors, since tubes are outdated, big and fat, fragile, expensive to made, and much more power consuming, compared to solid states. But guess what? Tubes will be forever made because there will be devices that will forever prefer tubes over solid states, if you are familiar with our beloved tube amps. Similarly, don’t worry about keeping type-B port on audio devices in 2024 may cause you any trouble and inconvenience, because the old ports will be forever made just for those gears that still need them.

    No Aux in or effects loop? Why BOSS? I realize the amp has some effects built in but there are many other pedals out there. Many which sound better in a loop rather than the input. No Aux in, again why? Sure it has Bluetooth built in but requires an optional adaptor. Did BOSS just not care? The lack of these features at this price point is a fail on the part of BOSS.

    And just like that the bass player's wallet gets the screws again katana guitar combos offer a pretty good cheap alternative to the other modeler companies but then the same company develops something in the bass market and no dice for that coin id just a soon go where t he name meets the price tag sorry boss you missed the mark on this one you would have been better off creating some sort of bass fly rig that could model great bass amps
