Bake and Shark is one of the most popular foods besides doubles that Trinidad is known for. It is served with a wide range of condiments and toppings like pineapple, cabbage, tomatoes etc. This is my take on this popular dish , I hope you enjoy!
2 lbs shark meat
Salt to taste
Black pepper
1 tbsp. minced garlic
1 scallion chopped
3 tbsp green seasoning
1 tsp. fish seasoning
Dash of bitters
1 tbsp. lime pepper sauce
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. celery salt
1 tsp. Cajun seasoning
For the dough-
2 cups flour
2 tsp yeast
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup lukewarm water

That thing u clean out from the shark is called the renk hear in trinidad if u don't do that the shark taste and smell really bad when u fry it

Hi Bernadette, i'm assuming you're in NY, you can go to Chinatown and buy fresh shark. We normally go early Saturday mornings.
In Queens, you can get it at the fish market on Sutphin Blvd near the LIRR station

Not sure it was a gift from my husband. didn't know about the catfish being sold as shark. that cant be passed off because catfish tastes muddy.
That looks scrumptious. I am a Trini but, I've never had bake n shark. Where do you get the white garlic sauce? Occasionally, where I'm located you can get shark from the Asian store ( I make curry shark) but, it's not quite the same taste. the shark is usually old and tough. I need a nice young one. What would you suggest?
you can use a different tye of fish if you like, maybe king fish that's what they use now in Maracas. The white garlic sauce is on my channel.
where I live, it's very hard to find shark.. and if you find it, it's very expensive..
