Getting STUCK in a Montgomery Elevator on St. Pete Beach!!! (NOT CLICKBAIT)

Well, I figured this would be GREAT as my first video to upload that was actually taken in 2018!!!! At the beginning of last month I went to St. Pete Beach for a Autism conference with my friend/FRIRND Joseph, and we rode a few elevators!!!! This is located at the Grand Plaza Hotel, located in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Built in 1975, the elevators appear to have originally been General Elevators judging by the door design, cab size and layout, but the Main Bank was modernized by Montgomery in the 1990s. The Thyssenkrupp glass elevator that was unfortunately shut was modded in the 2010s, and the Service lift was modded in the 2000s by KONE with Innovation Bruiser. I originally wasn't going to film these, but after getting denied for riding the glass lift, I decided why not film these despite the DISGUSTING CRINGEOVATION. Oh, err- I mean, Innovation Universal. Unfortunately, It turned out to be a VERY DUMB DECISION!!!!
Anyways. Riding the Main Elevators. Going up, everything went well, a little creaky and not the smoothest, but overall decent ride quality. Then, we explore the top floor, and here the elevators rattling and creaking. Now, we head down, and here is when things go bad. I push the lobby. Door shuts. We go down about 2 inches, then the elevators STOPS and ALL OF THE LIGHTS GO OUT!!!! (Ironically, when showing you guys the phone) SO FREAKY, LIKE, TOWER OF TERROR!!!! Thankfullly, we were only stuck for 30 seconds to a 1 minute and all of a sudden, the elevator turned back on and reopened on 11. After that, we walked down 11 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS and left!!!! This seemed like a nice hotel, but to the Grand Plaza Hotel, I'm sorry, but you need to FIX YOUR ELEVATORS!!!!! I mean, I'm not sure if what happened was the power went out or it just overheated or had a controller issue, but MAN this was TERRIFYING!!!! At least the phone worked this time, unlike the Gatlinburg incident, so not quite AS SCARY, but still kind of FRIGHTENING though!!!
Anyways, stayed tuned for a few videos from St. Pete Beach, but in the meantime, enjoy this EPIC FAIL of this Montgomery Elevator!!!! With that said, enjoy!
As for the set of elevators I was stuck in, here is some history:
Installed: 1975 (Unknown, likely by General with GAL Fixtures)
Modernized: Early to Mid 1990s (Montgomery with Innovation Universal) - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
I dont think the hotel needs to fix their elevators. It was an issue with the POWER COMPANY! I would take that out of the description as it was no fault of the hotel, rather the electric company. I feel sorry for anyone in the area that was working on a computer. if their stuff was not backed up, they probably lost it :(

I also think that it has been an electric cut, it even seems that the elevator electronics makes a reset (by the beep) and goes to the nearest plant.

Lol, it’s karma for ranting about Montgomery’s parent, Kone at the AC Hotel. I wonder if there was a power failure, as the lights flickered. I guess these elevators are too old to have emergency power. Nice cabs though.

Hey that Tower of Terror movie scared the crap outta me, EVEN for it being a Disney movie! I think that was their attempt at entering the Mystery & Suspense, and even Horror genre, and they sure did a pretty good job at it though.

That happened to me once. Alarm would not ring and buttons would not light up. It was also a Montgomery elevator.
Even though u got stuck on this one montgomery is still my favorite elevator brand I love there motors and blue green indicators

PotatoLift1 Nah, didn't trust the elevators here and didn't want to get in trouble. I took the stairs as I didn't want to risk getting stuck as I don't trust these!!! LOL. I was just freaked out at the time!!!

That was definitely a power outage to the whole building. I get power outages quite frequent at my house during a storm.
It may have been a power outage. Did the emergency light turn on? If it was a power outage the emergency light is supposed to turn on (there is a battery that powers it). I don't know if this applies to all elevators, but on some elevators, the car lights are on a separate circuit (so even if the elevator's main line switch is turned off, the car lights stay on, though floor indicators would turn off). So I'm not sure if a controller reset would cause the lights to turn off. I also notice that the music stopped (which I would guess might not be connected to the elevator controller either). Did the elevator stop abruptly? (I think if the elevator loses power the brake would apply assuming there is no battery backup system, which didn't appear to exist in this case).

Same thing happened to me. I was alone. The lights flickered and the power went out. I was in the elevator for about 15 mins

Wow. We each got stuck in an elevator in the same month in the same year. I got stuck on the elevator at the Nintendo NY Store on January 15, 2018. I have a vid if you want to see it.

Elevators and More by Clay Householder I was riding an Otis Lexan at the Brookside Resort, and I was stuck and the elevator phone didn't work!!!! So I had to tamper with that thing and ESCAPE it!!!! I unlisted that video as I will admit I copied dieselducy back then, and I screamed like a girl, but Andrew told me it was fine and there was nothing wrong with that video, so I may make it public again soon.
Escaping it would be your best chance at getting out in that situation. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

That looks more like it was a power outage, the lights should be on a separate circuit from the actual elevator control + motor, so for both to go out due to a fault with the actual elevator is less likely.
