Happy it was fixed because low on oil is very bad for the pump
A library in my childhood town had a ThyssenKrupp Impulse that has a motor SO LOUD, the staff tried their best to try and reduce as many rides as possible! It wasn’t low on oil or anything, but it was a TERRIBLE type of motor as it vibrates the entire building and makes the lights flicker when it starts going up. The elevator itself was in pretty decent condition tho
@@stlelevators Either the starter or the motor was on its last leg, drawling way higher amperage than it should
I’m honestly very surprised how it was still in service after the last shot because this was horrible! Great video! I bet if my brother rode this, he’d be scared out of his mind, I’d be scared out of my mind honestly
5:15 I LOVE that !! I would love have a ride on a low on oil elevator a day.
Wow, that is terrible that is the new record for low on oil elevators, guess that one is hydraulic and airdraulic.
@@stlelevators Yeah especially since it doesn't have enough oil for a full ride to floor 2
at the first one i was like "woah!" but by the final take before it got fixed i was like "HOW IS THIS THING NOT OUT OF SERVICE ALREADY?!?!?!?!??!?"
Now that it's 2 years later, how is this elevator holding up? And when it was low on fluid (in a rather misbehaving manner), did you by any chance report this elevator problem to anyone, so they could have it replaced?
I have not ridden it since I moved onto another school. They did fix it in the end, so my guess is it's running like normal.
This is my first Otis Series 5 elevator is low on oil I ever heard! :D
Wish I could of seen the machine room or at least hear it when its low on oil. When it reached floor M and 2 it was probably bone dry. Also maybe there's an oil leak in the line or the piston.
Looks new. It's always funny to mess with a series 5.
My high school had a series 5 with the outer number indication on all floors
Well someone screwed up if they waited a week to finally put oil in the darn thing!! Hopefully nobody got stuck in there before they fixed it...
I can't believe this. At least it got fixed.
I wondered what the hydraulic machine looks like during this. Especially the oil tank. Must of been bone dry as at reached the top. Also it must have a bad oil leak if it's that low on oil!
Not bone dry as the pump doesn’t take in the oil from the bottom, but I bet the impeller would be splashing oil *EVERYWHERE!*
What were the 2 key switches below the fire cabinet? Also interesting that there's no door close button, is there a door close button in the fire cabinet, or do they have to hold the button to close the door.
Light and inspection. There is a door close button inside the fire service cabinet.
@@stlelevators Ok, that would make sense, I wonder if it would work in regular service.
Nah, that’s just me in the bathroom next to the elevator after eating taco bell
Another Newer Series 5 that is LOW ON OIL!! Like the Public Storage Place in New York. AWESOME CAVITATION!! Hey Jowevator3219, I think this one beats the Dover Impulse Elevator at a Garage in Sacramento, California. This one's lower 😂😂 This is the LOW ON OIL #1 FIRST PLACE!!
@LittleRockElevators I remembered when i was in a airport in south bend when the elevator somehow fixed and loose oil... They never fix this thing and they need to mod this thing because krupy mods are good for me.
So those last couple times, the oil would affect the elevator starting at M. Is the distance between M and 2 the same as the other floors? It looks like it was a whole floor low.
@@stlelevators So is that normal height for a floor or is it shorter than others?
Nice cab! Quite low on oil!
What typically causes an elevator to be low on oil
I love this one, I One I haven’t seen a low on oil elevator in my whole tire life
Good thing it wasn't you who got stuck. 😂
What does M stand for?
Where was this located? St Louis?
There's a really good clue in the video actually... (it's Saturday... here's a little adventure for you...)
Well you know the elevator is sounds really good but once you reach level M hold on tight! You’re in for an earthquake! That is so bad and poorly maintained it is unbelievable!
STL Elevators yep, but they could’ve at least fixed it a little sooner before it got that bad
5:16 is literally my grades halfway though the school year.
5:15 That sounded like it was about to start a fire! Was it sucking in air?
Might be something to be low on oil and it was shaking..
everytime i rode one in sears it was extremly low on oil
@dieselducy, how do you think that elevator is horribly bad shape
I do not like how the elevator has to suffer like this being on low on oil.
That jack must have one hell of a leak.
Maybe there's a leaking hydraulic cylinder jack and the library don't care to go through the expense of replacing the hydraulics, and just has more oil added every once in a while when they get complaints of it.
Everybody gangsta until elevator starts to be a bathroom that comes right out of Taco Bell
Edit: Taco Bell be like:
series 5? regular lantern?
Oh man, that thing sounds terrible! the elevator itself is quite nice though.
around the 7:30 mark in the video I am suprised it made it all the way up. I sure didn't think it was going to
That pump was ready to stop working...
@Awesome Will They can only do that if the pump breaks beyond repair.
The machine room wouldn’t happen to be outside would it??
Oh a MRL hydraulic? There is a access door to the shaft where the power unit and pump is!
@@qeelevators2960 There is no such thing as MRL Hydraulic
Epic motor... Fail?!
OH dear
I think that's an otis series 5
Ah Otis Series 5 + evil red lantern = C R I T I C A L L Y L O W O N O I L lol
I make that same noise when I run out of Mountain Dew during the day…
The beginning sounds the ones that are not the louder noises sounded like the polar express
That’s so cool that you can take the elevator in school my school has 2 elevators and they’re both key card locked
Something is scratched up...
they fixed the door too. It was very noisy
5:04 That’s crazy!
This has gotten a lot worse for an Otis
After M it gets so low on oil
If I owned an elevator, it'd be a traction so I don't have to worry about refueling it with hydraulic fluid.
sometime soon the fox valley mall is getting torn down :(
It's sill there, was over there 3 months ago and it's still there, likely not going anywhere since it's still getting new stores and a apartment on the property where Sears was.
You should of reported it

A series 5 with Red Series 1 Inside lanterns
@@LocoRails79 Oh. So maybe they are some type of otis lantern which matches the epco lanterns except on the epco lantern is green for up and red for down.
That thing sounds like the inside of the titanic as it hit the ice berg
Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoa
Too bad it wasn’t glass
It's an otis
Otis
LOL
I would say that the worst elevator on TH-cam.
Poor elevator! i have a elevator channel but post the elevator videos sometimes on my main channel.
God the pit has to be filled with oil and leaking drips every minute or so.
Did the elevator smell like oil?
I found a elevator this same amount low on oil maybe a little worse
You should’ve checked the pit with a flashlight! I bet there would be half a foot of oil or more down there!
Sounds like it got so bad now it needs a new impeller
UMMMMMMM THAT IS BAD
This.....this is.... AMAZING!
Hi
