"We are experiencing minor technical difficulties" MALFUNCTIONING Otis Gen2s in N. Myrtle Beach!!!!

    Ok, first of all, I have no clue who to blame here.... Otis for installing a cheap Gen2 system that isn't designed for such heavy traffic, or Wyndham for not maintaining these right..... I'll let you be the judge here.... But what I can say is most Gen2s I've seen run just fine, and most Wyndham properties I've stayed at have well maintained elevators, so that is why I have no clue who to blame here....
    Anyways, about these elevators, as you can see, upon getting to these, I was welcomed with the right elevator MALFUNCTIONING and Parked on the First Floor!!!! But the left elevator was working and I called and rode it.... And as you can see, 2 elevators, now with 1 broken CLEARLY isn't enough for a building with 15 FLOORS!!!! Now, as you can see, the right elevator was being reset while this was taken, and when I eventually got back down, the doors on it were shut.... I have NO CLUE if the left elevator which was working, I have no clue if the issue it had had anything to do with the other elevator being reset, but as the guy got on with me and was talking, the left elevator JOLTED hard, and shook, and then opened up on 9 saying "Please use next elevator" and "We are experiencing MINOR technical difficulties"!!!! Like I said, idk if it was the elevator itself having problems, or if this had to do with them resetting the other car, but this did scare me a bit LOL!!!! I wasn't sure if I should take it back down after getting off on 9, but because I'm such a daredevil, and I knew nothing too bad would happen and I had a phone with me unlike the Gatlinburg incident, if I did get stuck, I knew I'd survive. And thankfully, I DID make it off, but as you see this was quite the adventure!!!! I'm very thankful I got this on video!!!
    But to the Wyndham Ocean Boulevard and Otis, y'all need to FIX YOUR ELEVATORS!!!! (Hopefully they're fixed by now since this was taken in March)
    For those wondering where this happened at, this was at Tower 1 at the Wyndham Ocean Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
    With that all being said, I hope you enjoy this video, a LOT more than I enjoyed recording it!!!!
    The elevators were installed in 2007-2008.

    I'm very late, but these are not Gen2s. None of the four towers have Gen2s. Towers 1 and 2 have custom Elevonic 411s, with the full standard fixtures suite. they travel at 400/500 FPM respectively. Tower 4 also has true elevonic 411s, that also go 400 FPM. tower 3's SPFs go 350 FPM.

    I’d honestly say the place is to blame. But, Series 5’s are known to be cheaply installed, so I’d say both the building and (minorly partially) the elevators themselves. I’ve ridden Series 4 gen2’s that are heavily busy and they run very well and rarely break down!

      these are elevonic 411s, not gen2s. so say about them what you will, the gen2s in myrtle beach are ironically more reliable than most other models installed here, and usually run much smoother.

  • @williamscoufaras7045
    @williamscoufaras7045 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I doubt this is Otis’s fault. Gen2s can go a maximum of 22-25 floors I believe so I doubt it’s because they’re Gen2. This could be the Hotel for not maintaining them properly. Or it’s possible that the power could have dipped a few times that day and made the elevators stall for a couple of seconds or the controllers probably had a few dips. I’m not positive about that tho so don’t quote me.

    • @FloridianElevators
      @FloridianElevators  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, but Gen2 isn't exactly the greatest quality, but that said, it is BY FAR the most reliable MRL I've been on. I would assume this is likely the hotels' fault too, but like I said, I'm not sure. Especially since this is one of the best ranked hotels in Myrtle Beach....

    • @alternatehobbies
      @alternatehobbies 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      gen2s go 300ft max. but that's irrelevant since these are elevonic 411s, not gen2s. i rode them across two consecutive days. these travel 400fpm and do not act/run at all like gen2s

    • @alternatehobbies
      @alternatehobbies 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      lol the only tower here that has decent spec is tower 2, with three elevators traveling 500 FPM. tower 3 is the worst, since those are two thyssenkrupp SPF elevators traveling at 350 FPM, rather than 400FPM like the ones in the video do.
      didn't realize how lucky i have it at the mar vista grande with four 350FPM Gen2s for 15 floors

    Otis Series 5s (or actually Series 6, since Evan found an Otis Series 5 installed in 2004 with what many people would mistaken as Series 6 but is actually an older Series 5) are cheap-a** POSes! That was during -- what I would like to call -- Otis' "S**t period" where their elevators were cheaply made (as well as most of which were made in Mexico) and it happens to also been during the Great Recession, so yeah...

    • @FloridianElevators
      @FloridianElevators  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Series 5 is indeed called Series 5 according to the UNITEC Websites, and actually, I believe both Series "6" and 5 were made during the same time as I have seen some from 2010-2011 but "6" was rarely purchased for some weird reason....

    • @PFElevators
      @PFElevators ปีที่แล้ว

      It couldn’t be the wind. The second car on P1 was reset. That involved the car that Floridan elevators was on as they are in 1 bank. Both of these run on one controller

    • @pineappleroad
      @pineappleroad หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PFElevators unless elevators in North America use weird control systems, my understanding is that there would be one controller per elevator, and the controllers have some sort of communication between them
      The elevators at a college i went to a while ago nearly always had one of the two out of service, and i even saw them reboot one of them, which didn’t affect the other elevator
