Amazing fact about Queens' lead guitarist Brian May. He was actually working on getting his Ph.D in astrophysics when Queen was formed. Music meant so much to him so he put his doctorate on the back burner. After Freddie Mercury died, Queen disbanded. Even while still part of the group Brian and his father designed and built a new kind of guitar. Brian's IQ has been measured in the 160's. That's even beyond Big Bang Theory smart. So he was a real genius on top of being a musical genius. after Queen disbanded, Brian went back to working toward his doctorate. He finally got it in 2006 or 7. He's now Dr. Brian May Ph.D. He's also written about 6 books on the subject of astrophysics.
I wonder what Freddie would think about the fact that this song is still applauded as one of the greatest rock anthems almost 50 years after it was released and a full 30 years after his death.
I saw them in concert in 1982. Definitely, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Freddie was amazing. You tell kids today about how good the music was back then, not just rock, they laugh and blow you off. UNTIL they actually listen to it.

Bohemian Rhapsody was their signature song and their biggest hit it became an even bigger hit when it was featured in the classic movie, "Wanes World" and is the longest of their songs. Their Record company did not want them to record it, and believed it wouldn't sell, and believed the radio stations wouldn't play it. Boy, were they wrong. People who haven’t heard Queen before as an adult still baffles me because back in 2016 when I was around 12 I discovered Queen by myself and I was a fan already even though Freddie died years ago. And I found out almost all my peers (young children new into this world) have even heard this song and we even sung it together on a party (just a few didn’t know the lyrics). So to think that a lot of the new generation even caught up with Queen but an adult (in the west) hasn’t heard Queen before really shocks me.

According to FANDOM: Queen Info Database, Freddie recorded The Show Must Go On in 1990. The song was released on October 1991, 6 weeks before Freddie died. So although he was very ill and could barely stand, he recorded the song in 1990 (no month stated).
Great choice, I recommended it too! I know many say he did the whole song in one take,, details often get mixed up, like the game broken telephone!. I have yet to see anything confirmed by Brian that it was done in one take (happy to view if someone has seen it..not Wikipedia...), but he did say the recording of it was like the performance of his life. Recorded about a year before he died. His last recording was made in May 1991(Mother Love) and died in Nov 1991.

I had front row seats to queens first American tour. They opened for Mott The Hoople, another band you should react to, at the Uris Theater NYC in 1974. One of the best shows I have ever seen. I’ve seen many shows.

This is the longest Queen song they made and it received a lot of heartache from the record company. Enough to cause Queen to leave their label over. Also, just for reference sake, the album name was A Night At the Opera and listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, you can hear the operatic tones to it.

Freddie lived just down the road from where I live in a town called Feltham in West London we have a street named after him called. Freddie Mercury way that video was one of the first music videos ever made so looks a bit strange now days but still sounds fantastic 👏

According to FANDOM: Queen Info Database, Freddie recorded The Show Must Go On in 1990. The song was released on October 1991, 6 weeks before Freddie died. So although he was very ill and could barely stand, he recorded the song in 1990 (no month stated).
Great choice, I recommended it too! I know many say he did the whole song in one take,, details often get mixed up, like the game broken telephone!. I have yet to see anything confirmed by Brian that it was done in one take (happy to view if someone has seen it..not Wikipedia...), but he did say the recording of it was like the performance of his life. Recorded about a year before he died. His last recording was made in May 1991(Mother Love) and died in Nov 1991.

I had front row seats to queens first American tour. They opened for Mott The Hoople, another band you should react to, at the Uris Theater NYC in 1974. One of the best shows I have ever seen. I’ve seen many shows.
