This guy is not human. He is an alien, arrived to earth just months ago... or he`s the most talented actor/liar I met in my life. Those are the only explanations for a human doesn't heard about Queen, Bowie, Bee Gees... (just joking)
Yes... Vanilla Ice took this riff and tried to pass it off as his own ... got sued for it too. I think you’ll like the Queen-only Live at Wembley ‘86 version of this, with the insanely energetic crowd... and Freddie starts it all with the best crowd-participation you could possibly ask for. (Part of that performance’s video clips were used in this) The video you are watching right now is a compilation of Bowie clips and Queen clips overlaid upon the studio track... they never performed it live together.
Fun Fact : Vanilla Ice also got creamed (pun intended) for the *other* side of the single - he used Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” ALSO without crediting. He lost $500,000 to a settlement with Wild Cherry.
A queen song I would highly recommend: Show Must Go On. Not only is it an amazing song, but the story behind it is amazing as well. Freddie Mercury (the lead singer) was dying of Aids, he was barely able to even stand anymore. He walked into the studio like a boss, said "lets do this" and recorded his last song ever...in ONE take. Legend.
Yup, and his punishment for lying and scheming was a cool 4 MILLION paid to Queen for not just admitting to the tune being the same song (by which sampling their sound) and making a deal out of court. Queen tried to be easy in him and tired to make a deal... But some people just have to learn the hard way. And he didn’t learn his lesson with the other side of that record where he sampled Play That Funky Music White Boy by Wild Cherry and had to pay them $500,000 for using their song without permission in another court battle. Robert Parissi (Vanilla Ice) is broke today. Terrible business man. He now works in construction, home flipping.
Thought I’d let you know a little bit about the guitarist, Brian May. He has a doctorate in Astrophysics. He was member of the NASA New Horizons team that flew by Pluto. He was a chancellor at Liverpool John Moores University from 2008 to 2013. There is an asteroid named after him. He co-founded Asteroid Day with astronaut Rusty Swhweickart to bring awareness to asteroids and how to protect Earth from them. So he’s much more than a singer/guitarist/composer. Oh yeah, the guitar he plays was build by him and his father when he was a teenager.
That microphone thing is Freddie's. At a very early concert, might have been before they released their first album in 1973, somebody didn't tighten the telescopic thumbwheel and after he started singing, he grabbed the stand, and it fell apart. He did not stop singing and the band did not stop playing. That's the kind of things that make Freddie one of the best live performers ever. He kept the mike stand that way.
James: So should I listen to this guy... David... what's his name again? TH-cam: Yes. Definitely yes. The song's hook samples the bassline of the 1981 song "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie,[11] who did not receive credit or royalties for the sample.[12] In a 1990 interview, Van Winkle claimed the two melodies were slightly different because he had added an additional note on the "and" of the fourth beat, an anacrusis ("pickup") between odd-numbered and subsequent even-numbered iterations of the "Under Pressure" sample.[13] In later interviews, Van Winkle readily admitted he sampled the song and claimed his 1990 statement was a joke; others, however, suggested he had been serious.[13][14] After representatives for Queen and Bowie threatened a copyright infringement suit against him, the matter was settled out of court, with Van Winkle being required to pay financial recompense to the original artists.[15] Bowie and all members of Queen were also given songwriting credit for the sample.[13] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_Ice_Baby
Yes, he stole the riff & tried to say he wrote it. Had to settle with the Band Queen & David Bowie and give them writing credits. Freddie broke his mic stand early on & liked the freedom it gave him to move around so he kept it. “Now I’m Here” from Wembley 1986 is whole band on fire. Tons of songs to do🔥🔥🔥 Bet you’ll also love “Cool Cat” - very Motown vibe.
Oh, you're so young. Lol. 🙂 1. Since Vanilla Ice was 14 when this song came out, he sampled the first part and got into a whole lot of legal trouble. 2. David Bowie was a LEGEND. "Let's Dance". The thing that irritates me about the comments from some older people about reactions from young people is that they seem to be laughing at the young person for not knowing anything about, for example, David Bowie. There was a time when no one knew about David Bowie. The whole point of this channel is that he is learning about new types of music. I think it’s brilliant that he has now discovered a brand new artist to him, one of the greatest artists of all time. Also, imagine never having heard any David Bowie songs before. Imagine being able to learn it all from the very beginning, and see it all for the very first time - I am completely envious of that!
If I could hear Station to Station,Diamond Dogs,Aladdin sane,Ziggy,Blackstar, Low,well, all Bowie for the first time again, the magic he had. Yes it would be epic. I have to say though,I still get those feelings on the 1000th listen.
As an older person here...65 years young... I'm not laughing... I have a huge smile on my face because you're experiencing this as new music... and I love it! Keep listening to all music this is what makes and keeps the world going round!
If you’ve ever heard We Will Rock You then you already know Queen. Also, what you heard here is the studio version. Someone mashed up two different concerts to make it look like Queen and Bowie were on stage together. This was never performed live with both artists present. They were both recording their own stuff in Switzerland at the same time once so they got together and wrote/recorded this song for fun.
Send back Freddie, Bowie, Prince, John Lennon, George Harrison, Whitney Houston and Glenn Frye. In exchange, the good Lord can take all of the Kardashians and Real Housewives.
For Bowie songs, I’d recommend: Changes, Fame, Wild is the Wind, Golden Years, oh and then some titles from his last album he recorded right before he died. Great videos for Blackstar, and Lazarus.
When Freddie first began with Queen, he found himself on stage with a mic that wouldn't come out of the stand. He practically had to rip it off...he considered it a good luck omen in a way, so he carried that unconnencted thing around with him at many future songs.
RIP David Bowie and Freddie Mercury. You know they are both chilling with God and having some really great jam sessions. The mic for Freddie was more of a comfort thing than anything else. I guess his security blanket. Vanilla Ice did steal this from them.
David Bowie is amazing! He’s an icon and an inspiration for so many artist today, def recommend checking out his music Rebel Rebel, Heroes, and Life on Mars are just a few of my personal faves of his, love to see ur reactions to them
David Bowie is another musical legend. His career spans close to 50 years, and he's got dozens of hit songs. In addition, David Bowie's music spans a lot of different genres, as he liked to switch things up so as to not ever be stale. When he died of cancer a few years ago, the world lost a true musical genius.
Don't Stop Me Now is another great Queen song. Ice Ice Baby was sampled Under Pressure by Vanilla Ice without Queen's permission and he got sued by them as a result!
You can never go wrong with Freddie! His talent, not to mention the talent of the rest of the band never fails to amaze me! David Bowie as others have said is a must. I recommend starting with Space Oddity but he has a great catalogue of songs.
David Bowie is a legend, but I don’t know if you’re ready for him, TBH. It’s easy to start in the wrong place. If you do Bowie, “Space Oddity” is a good introductory song, and then if you like it do something off the “Ziggy Stardust” album. And, please man ... the band is called “Queen”, the singer is Freddie Mercury.
I love you getting with Queen and our beautiful Freddie!! Please watch the Wembley live set! Much clearer and you can really appreciate the song! I think you’d like ‘One Vision’. There are several different live shows of each song- each one a bit different as it is live! You can jump in and listen to at least 200 great songs written and sung from Queen! All of their songs are written by the band. Each member- Freddie, Brian, Roger and John are all in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for writing #1 hits! The only band to do it! All are college graduates. Brian- the lead guitarist is quite famous. He is also an astrophysicist. Roger and Brian still your to this very year. In their seventies!
When Freddie died, there was a tribute concert at Wembley Stadium, with a lot of great music. Bowie sang Under Pressure accompanied by Annie Lennox from the Eurythmics. You should give that a listen. Also, Queen had a song called Stone Cold Crazy, that was covered by Metallica. (it's nowhere near as good, honestly, and I love Metallica.) and in this copncert James Hetfield sings it backed by Queen. Hetfield's voice has a maniacal edge to it that brings something new to the song, when backed by the original band. Also worth listening to.
His first show he was trying to fix the mic stand and it came apart and the show must go on, so he sang the show with half the stand still on it, so he had his mic stand that way EVERYTIME he sang.
Thankyou! Nice to see the band Queen: love this song with Bowie, still actual today. I suggest Queen Who wants to live forever live at Budapest, also used in the movie Highlander. Freddie Mercury was a once in a lifetime performer. Much bless dear ❤
it sounds EXACTLY like that. which is why vanilla ice got sued, lol. p.s. co-vocalist on this is david bowie, pale man, fair haired, GENIUS. omigods, you so SHOULD listen to bowie. my favorites are "ashes to ashes" and "heroes" and "modern love," but there are SO many more.
It does sound like, “Ice, Ice Baby” because Vanilla Ice ripped off the into from Queen. He originally said he didn’t, but had to come clean that he stole it after representatives from Queen & David Bowie threatened a lawsuit. The matter was eventually settled out of court.
Hey James!! Queen “another one bites the dust”, David Bowie “fame”. Queen (bands name) Freddie Mercury- lead singer Roger Taylor- drums, background vocals Brian May- electric guitar, background vocals John Deacon- bass guitar Have a great day!!! Stay safe my friend 😀
Freddie was incredible! I'm not a huge fan of Bowie, but he was a musical genius. Just because I'm not a huge fan of his work doesn't mean I can't recognize his genius.
Bowie is a trailblazing legend. There are wayyyy too many songs to list, but the album put out after he died, Legacy, has 40 songs, and that’s by no means all of them. You can’t go wrong.
As said, Queen is the band. The member were Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals) and John Deacon (bass).
Freddie Mercury (the group is Queen, he's the singer) is a rock legend, and so is David Bowie. I see others already recommended songs by him, and I'd cast my vote for Fame or Changes.
Freddie always used a half a mike stand. It became his signature prop. Saw them twice in the 80's and the only time Freddie put that mic stand down was if he was at the piano or plating a guitar for Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
Freddie originated from Zanzibar and brought up in London, he then went to performing art school and met Rodger and the brill Brian. They set up a small business fashion I think. Then when Rodgers band lead singer left in stepped Freddie hence Queen evolved Rodger said on an interview Freddie sounded like a sheep he mimic a sheep baa baa laugh. The rest is history ❤️❤️
As the title said, this is a mix. The song you heard was the studio recording done in 1981. The concert footage of Freddie in the yellow jacket was from Wembley Stadium in 1986. The concert footage of David Bowie was a tribute concert, again at Wembley, after Freddie died in 1991. It's a pretty clever mix of editing. Sadly, they did the one recording and then never performed together again. This mix/edit is the closest we will ever get to seeing them perform together.
Nobody would have ever heard of Vanilla Ice if he hadn't ripped this riff off without crediting Queen.
Oh, the privilege of hearing Freddie Mercury and David Bowie sing together!
"is this Bowies only good song?" 🤣🤣🤣hahahahahaha😂😂oh sweety, you have so much to look forward to 🤣🤣🤣

The broken mic stand was a Freddie Mercury thing. It happened by accident at a concert and he kept it going :)
He had to keep using it, he moved around the stage too much for any other type.

David Bowie is amazing! He’s an icon and an inspiration for so many artist today, def recommend checking out his music Rebel Rebel, Heroes, and Life on Mars are just a few of my personal faves of his, love to see ur reactions to them
This is an awesome fan edit video. This was a studio duet. They never performed it live together. RIP Freddie & David.
Kind of Magic good one from Queen. And yes! David Bowie was a towering creative genius so well worth listening to. Thx James, good reaction as always.
You poor sweet summer child, everything from both is good.
Queen has so many great songs, I doubt you'd find much to dislike, and many to hear with pleasure.
Give me goose bumps!!! Bowie and Queen - such an brilliant combo! Both epic artists!
Queen - “Don’t Stop Me Now”
Queen - “We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions”
You've found the rabbit hole that is David Bowie's music. Enjoy the ride!
Queen bassist John Deacon was playing around and came up with the famous beat when the band was meeting with David Bowie and the rest is history.
David Bowie's "Space Oddity" or "The Man Who Sold The World"
Well then he's gonna have to do Nirvana's cover of that!
@@dipsydoodle7988 I love both versions.
Queen, Don't Stop Me Now
You'll love it, another stellar performance
Yes space oddity is great
I love you getting with Queen and our beautiful Freddie!!
Another One Bites the Dust
When Freddie died, there was a tribute concert at Wembley Stadium, with a lot of great music. Bowie sang Under Pressure accompanied by Annie Lennox from the Eurythmics. You should give that a listen. Also, Queen had a song called Stone Cold Crazy, that was covered by Metallica. (it's nowhere near as good, honestly, and I love Metallica.) and in this copncert James Hetfield sings it backed by Queen. Hetfield's voice has a maniacal edge to it that brings something new to the song, when backed by the original band. Also worth listening to.
Life on Mars and Starman are 2 of my fave songs from Bowie
+1 for Starman. That whole album is one of the best from start to finish honestly.
Rebel Rebel, Changes, Blue Jean, Fame, Young Americans, Lets Dance, Major Tom, you can't go wrong with Bowie!! 💖💖
His first show he was trying to fix the mic stand and it came apart and the show must go on, so he sang the show with half the stand still on it, so he had his mic stand that way EVERYTIME he sang.
Ahahaaha ... Vanilla Ice ... Ahahhahah
Keep the Queen coming. Any of their live Wembley performances, all are amazing
David Bowie is an icon in the world of music! A Pure Genius!
Thankyou! Nice to see the band Queen: love this song with Bowie, still actual today. I suggest Queen Who wants to live forever live at Budapest, also used in the movie Highlander. Freddie Mercury was a once in a lifetime performer. Much bless dear ❤
He so stole it. Love Queen and Love Bowie. There are so many songs, can't wait to watch you continue to expand your catalog of musical experience.
Queen Live at Wembley is one of the greatest live albums ever recorded.
So happy you reacted to this song ,love your reaction. Both queen and Bowie are legends
David Bowie... All his songs are hits.
it sounds EXACTLY like that. which is why vanilla ice got sued, lol. p.s. co-vocalist on this is david bowie, pale man, fair haired, GENIUS. omigods, you so SHOULD listen to bowie. my favorites are "ashes to ashes" and "heroes" and "modern love," but there are SO many more.
Some more Queen songs, A Kind of Magic, Who wants to live forever, Another one bites the dust. Queen has a lot of good songs.
You need to watch Queen's live aid. Best 25 mins of live music ever!!!
Queen (bands name)
Freddie Mercury- lead singer
Roger Taylor- drums, background vocals
Brian May- electric guitar, background vocals
John Deacon- bass guitar
Have a great day!!! Stay safe my friend 😀
“The note of my whole life!” 💕
Freddie was incredible! I'm not a huge fan of Bowie, but he was a musical genius. Just because I'm not a huge fan of his work doesn't mean I can't recognize his genius.
My favorite David Bowie song is Let's Dance you should react to that one it's a good one.
Bowie is a trailblazing legend. There are wayyyy too many songs to list, but the album put out after he died, Legacy, has 40 songs, and that’s by no means all of them. You can’t go wrong.
if you want another good one with David Bowie,.. then look for Dancing in the Streets.
David Bowie is a master: Heroes, Life on Mars, I'm afraid of Americans... Lazurs is a song and video he recorded days before he died.
"Do you guys think I should listen to this other guy, David, or is this the only good song from him?"
Oh, Sweet Summer Child...
Now I'm here live at Wembley 86 is phenomenal. Also, I want it all official video is a rocker. Freddie's voice can go anywhere
Yeah vanilla ice got the 💩 sued out of him for sampling that
As said, Queen is the band. The member were Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals) and John Deacon (bass).
I subbed today so you have to react to Pink Floyd 'great gig in the sky'... with headphones on! Trust me!
Two geniuses at work here... Both Queen and David Bowie have huge catalogs that are absolutely worth exploring.
Love both Queen and David Bowie. David is unique and considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
Freddie Mercury (the group is Queen, he's the singer) is a rock legend, and so is David Bowie. I see others already recommended songs by him, and I'd cast my vote for Fame or Changes.
David Bowie, Space Oddity, Fame, Golden Years. Just a few iconic songs of the 70's
Then when Rodgers band lead singer left in stepped Freddie hence Queen evolved
Rodger said on an interview Freddie sounded like a sheep he mimic a sheep baa baa laugh. The rest is history
❤️❤️
As the title said, this is a mix. The song you heard was the studio recording done in 1981. The concert footage of Freddie in the yellow jacket was from Wembley Stadium in 1986. The concert footage of David Bowie was a tribute concert, again at Wembley, after Freddie died in 1991. It's a pretty clever mix of editing. Sadly, they did the one recording and then never performed together again. This mix/edit is the closest we will ever get to seeing them perform together.
