I remember when John Lennon's life was taken and on the radio they played all the Beatles music from A to Z nonstop. It took four full days...at least. Yep.

My sister and I were a little too young to really understand what was happening, but her tears conveyed the gravity of it.
@@Mr.Ekshin I was only five but I do have vague memories of Lennon’s murder, mostly because the memory was more impressed on me bc of my mother (now 80), and her reaction. Music reaches into and touches the depths that no matter what metric someone measures themselves by we all share. And music like this song shine a light into those depths and connects us to each other.
Crying to a song like this proves you have a heart and that music moves you the way John, Paul, George, and Ringo meant for you to feel. I still hear music that I cry like a little baby to. Music is supposed to move you that’s the point. Don’t ever apologize for being human.
Well, I'm a senior citizen, and this made me tear up again. It affects me more than it did when I was young, because I understand loss viscerally now. Much respect to you. So sorry about your grandmother, she is beautiful.
"Let It Be" is always emotional! Paul's voice is so sweet and strong in this song. It's about his late mother, but I always heard and sang it as more of a hymn. The lyrics are very moving -- sad and inspiring. And from the opening piano to George's heavy-duty excellent guitar solo to the "Ahhhh" harmony in the background & Ringo's beat & John's voice it's just beautiful. It's a... pure song. Peace....
Fun fact which you might already know: George did two lead breaks for this song, well three if you include the take which featured in the film (which was a different take to the one that made the album). The two lead breaks were recorded roughly 16 months apart and the version we heard here in this video is officially the last ever bit of audio recorded for a Beatles record, laid down in April 1970. George used a rosewood Telecaster in the softer original version, and his lovely 57 Les Paul 'Lucy' in the hard core version.
A gospel based song about the passing of Paul’s mum. He was devastated, but had a dream of his Mum saying to him ‘don’t worry, let it be’ . How woke up and wrote the song. Great track, keep strong bro
4:42 this is my favorite part of the song. The groove combined with those lines, "And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me, shine until tomorrow" and "I wake up to the sound of music", describing how the song he's singing came to him in a dream. Fucking unreal

Me too Bro. It's the first album I ever bought. I still love it. About 15 years ago they released a version without the Specter Wall of Sound background. It was much anticipated but it cannot compete with the original
You just found out what those who grew up in the 60s knew. The Beatles are the best band all time. Period. And a lot of it is because of the emotion this song elicits. I teared up watching you. This album means SO much to me. My first serious GF, 1st love and I used to double date with another couple. This was ALL we played. Every time. One week we couldn’t go. They went and were in a wreck and the girl died. Paul said he was struggling over an issue in his life and his deceased Mother (Mary) came to him in a dream and said Let It Be. The only other song he wrote that said came from a dream was Yesterday. Claimed he woke up and the whole melody was in his head. He asked everyone what song it was as he was sure he’d heard it.
The older I get the Beatles music means more and more to ,brings back memories of friends who are no longer here also people and places long gone and yes I cried May your grandmother RIP

I get it! I've been listening to this song for over 50 years and it can still do the same thing to me. THAT is the power of the Beatles. That is the power of music.
Paul was inspired to write this song when his deceased mother, Mary came to him in a dream when he was feeling despair and all she said to him was Let it Be. I love that story.

Hey - as a few others mentioned, Mary was Paul’s mother’s name who died when he was young. For myself, in addition to being one of the Beatles greatest songs (and maybe Paul’s best) this song has special meaning as my mother passed when I was 7 years old. There’s no shame in crying, man. Crying is simply a means of expressing respect, love and loss. I’ve cried to this song many times.
They played this at my dear aunt’s funeral service. It was beautiful- it touched everyone deeply. Such beautiful lyrics and a fitting way to say goodbye to a woman who was so loved. Watching this makes me miss her :(

@@phillipecook3227 John and Paul are the nucleus. They lived just one mile apart from each other. How insane is that?
Liverpool the best city in the WORLD!
"And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me"
Who can write a lyric like Paul?
John Lennon
@@eliboybherrera7890 😂
Paul was the hopeless romantic and John was the radical. Seperately they would be alone. But together they made the music explode.......
John Lennon -- Imagine
Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle
My mom was a Mary. She passed 3 years ago. Even when she was alive this song made me cry because that is exactly what she would tell me. Miss you my sweet sweet mother Mary.
Please, never apologise for getting emotional. This song itself is one of the Beatles' masterpieces. The history behind it, the smooth sound of Paul's voice, incredible progression of instruments and the wonderful message... it can hit hard. The best music helps us channel our emotions. Thanks for sharing your memory of you grandma and your reaction.
We love the way you honor your grandmother’s memory. We understand, and feel for you.
"And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me..." my mother passed 16 years ago... still makes me cry. Happy Xmas, Stay safe. Your Grandma will be with you.
I’m 28. My sister passed away 13 years ago next week at age 12 from leukemia. I feel your pain. Prayers.
I know you heard this but I know how you feel. God bless
My mom passed away 4 months ago. She had Alzheimers. She was not the woman she was when she passed and she didn't know she was dying, which was a blessing. I remember her for the woman she was not the woman with Alzheimers.
Rome Life MATTERS: Dude. From Eminem, Dre, to the Beatles, your reactions are so, so onpoint, insightful, passionate, witty, and ESSENTIAL. Congratulations on your impending fatherhood; you will be a GREAT father. And that is Everything.
Many grown men, myself included, have been brought to tears from this song.
I remember in the early 1980's I had this 45, I'd often play it on my record player in the morning before going to school.
Helped me in a lot of ways.
I remember when John Lennon's life was taken and on the radio they played all the Beatles music from A to Z nonstop. It took four full days...at least. Yep.
I can remember the exact spot I was at on the 101 freeway when KLOS radio station broke in and announced that John Lennon was murdered. Sad night.
I had totally forgotten that. They did the same thing in Minneapolis.
I was 10, and my sister and I were in the car headed to the mall. My mother was driving and I remember what road we were on when the news came over the radio. She pulled over and started crying. My sister and I were a little too young to really understand what was happening, but her tears conveyed the gravity of it.
did they play revolution 9
@@Mr.Ekshin I was only five but I do have vague memories of Lennon’s murder, mostly because the memory was more impressed on me bc of my mother (now 80), and her reaction. The Beatles are her favorite band of all time, so naturally she had the same sort of reaction your mother did. That’s the main thing that left an impression of the event on my young mind.
Of course I’m a huge Beatles fan now myself and have been since my youth!
Beatles are the best. Real raw and in your face with their emotions. People who don’t like the Beatles are untrustworthy to me.
One of the greatest songs ever written, a song that everyone can relate to.
I know it is!
I know it's been almost a year since you posted this but I feel the need to share my story about this song. I'm 58, I am and was a huge Beatles fan when I was a teen. My Grandmother died when I was 14. Her name was Mary. I remember sitting on my living room floor, holding her pictures in my hands and listening to this song. It made me cry terribly, but it also brought me solice to her death. Tears and acceptance...that's what this song did for me.
P M this song gives me the chills so emotional when you know the background behind the lyrics😢
This was my Moms favorite song!!! We played it at her funeral and we all cried our eyes out. ♥️🙏🏼✌️
😭😭😭 this is me right now
So very sorry for your loss😢😢💔💔💔
@@MsPhillyG thank you!! It was back in 2014 and it feels like yesterday to my heart.
@@grobinson7507 I can understand that. My mom is on life support and it feels like we already lost her. I think out of all my siblings I'm the only one that doesn't realize she was gone the day she fell into a coma on Feb 18th
@@MsPhillyG oh dear god, I am so sorry you are going through this. This has to be just horrible to see her like this and what it’s doing to you and your siblings, mentally and physically. Lots of prayers for you guys!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Music can reach deeper into us faster than most other experiences and remind us of what we really care about.
We played music before we could speak (according to George Martin, and who are we to disagree!)
That's so beautifully said, and so true. Thank you!
Music reaches into and touches the depths that no matter what metric someone measures themselves by we all share. And music like this song shine a light into those depths and connects us to each other.
Beautifully put
Paul is very human. His voice can break a man down..
The good old days, when lyrics really meant something.
Well said. The older you get the more emotional it gets.
Him: "Today I'm gonna react to Let It Be"
Us: "Yeah, you're about to go through some stuff"
No other band from the 60s or even today in 2022 can take you on such a emotional rollercoaster. The Beatles are Unmatched for 5 Decades...So far.
You never should be sorry for being moved by good music... Especially the Beatles.
A gospel based song about the passing of Paul’s mum. He was devastated, but had a dream of his Mum saying to him ‘don’t worry, let it be’ . How woke up and wrote the song. Great track, keep strong bro
Best comment
Watching Paul McCartney pluck this from thin air in that Disney doco is one of the greatest things I've ever seen
One of the greatest songs ever written in music history.
4:42 this is my favorite part of the song. The groove combined with those lines, "And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me, shine until tomorrow" and "I wake up to the sound of music", describing how the song he's singing came to him in a dream. Fucking unreal
He’s so good he writes songs in his sleep…..literally
Beautiful tribute to your Grandmother, who was a beautiful, loving, woman who spoke wisdom to you, and was a woman of God, and in that she was a woman of hope. God's blessings on you and your family 🙏🙏🙏💖
I can relate, my beloved mom, passed away 1year ago, a month later, our beloved cat Callie, passed the same day, one month apart. Man still have a hard time everyday with my loss. Love you mom, miss you every second of everyday. RIP. In heaven.
Man don't be embarrassed, about crying. Shows you have a heart brother. Let the tears flow. God bless.
So sorry for loss of your grandmother, I feel your pain, may she rest in eternal heavenly peace. AMEN..
This song has made me cry many times. Especially these days. Can we make this the National Anthem....
Dude the fact that you got a little teary eyed is just proof that you have a soul
Your grandmother sowed in you the seeds of faith, which are now growing and growing inside you. You will find that fatherhood will be one of the greatest catalysts in the world that will nurture that faith and make it grown even stronger. You realize that there is a force in this world that is greater than all of us. Sending hugs and prayers for you and your family - especially that precious little baby that is coming. You are entering the most beautiful and important part of your life - being a father and loving and bringing up that child. Rest assured your granmother is right there with you - every step of the way. Beautiful reaction! Thank you!
Beatles are deep… God bless
My man Rome, this is a straight out beautiful song. I have listened to it for 60 years, and it still makes me tear up. It is also a recognition from Paul for the end of the Beatles , so it is especially poignant.
My dad was Tom Cartwright, but he died in 2017 so you can't be him! Anyway, 60 years is a stretch, maybe 51 years! Cheers, John
@@jcartwrt yes. I stand corrected. In my haste to respond to Rome, I got the years off. Your estimate of 51 years is a better timeline. My condolences for the loss of your father. My parents died in 1997 within 10 weeks of each other. It was devastating. Can I presume you are a Beatles fan? I live in the US. Are you in the UK?
@@tomcartwright7134 I live near Vancouver, British Columbia. Yes I like the Beatles, but I like lots of 60's groups of course (I'm 68 so was a teen during that time). Sorry about your parents. It's always tough losing them and I have constant reminders of mine since they had so many possessions, many of which are now in our house.
@@jcartwrt thanks for your kind words. I am a huge fan of music from the sixties and seventies. I don’t encounter many folks with our last name, therefore my curiosity. I’m 68 years old and grew up in Washington DC. I wonder if we are connected by family someway.
It's OK to cry. Thank you for showing your heart ❤
I heard it said - "Big boys don't cry. Men do." Your journey is continuing. My 34 year old son cries with me (his dad passed away when my son was 15), and he is still the strongest man I know, and has the biggest heart.
the twinkle in your grandma’s eyes in that picture is precious, but your open and honest reaction to the thoughts of her this song brought to your mind speaks volumes about the kind of woman she was. may her memory always be a blessing 💜
Don't apologize for showing emotions ♥️🎶.
We played this song in church choir myself on the drums Marie Conner, piano, her brother trumpet, my brother trombone, and my sister clarinet…..
Although it was sung by a lot of church choirs !!! it was Paul’s mother he was singing about!!!

Nothing wrong with a song making you cry man! Several jams still hit me hard! Not gonna lie, I teared up during this reaction.
I’ve heard this described as a “secular Hymn” and it absolutely is. I’m glad this song came to you when you needed it most, you know who made that happen😇
I love that!
Sir Paul Did yeah 🤔
My friend that's the way we all feel when we hear this song . We all got our memories running thru those lines.
Beatles were poets of rock . The best ever .
Amazing to think this came from a dream about his late mother Mary telling him to just Let It Be 2 dream songs this and Yesterday.FAB!
This is actually the first album I ever bought. The album jacket opened like a book and inside it were 4 separate pictures like the pictures on the album cover. I must have listened to that album 500 times, this music never gets old.
Don't worry if you cried mate everyone who listen to this classic song has cried awesome reactions respect from Brisbane Queensland Australia
The Beatles are the greatest band in my opinion and it is in the world music charts even today it still is
The older I get the Beatles music means more and more to ,brings back memories of friends who are no longer here also people and places long gone and yes I cried
May your grandmother RIP
Can we take a moment to appreciate George's guitar skills here. Especially at 4:00. Your mom seemed like a good woman. God rest her soul. Keep up the good work. Your mom would be proud.
"She's leaving home" also has a good message
What a beautiful tribute to your grandmother 💛
I have loved this song for 53 years and I still get emotional every time I hear it.
His mom! Beautiful!
So glad you had such a deep emotional connection. The Beatles reach everyone at some point.
Side note: It was so cool when you got up...you walked straight between them, like a curtain!
That's what great art does. It hits us right in our soul, our heart. Nobody ever did that better than John, Paul, George, & Ringo.
I get it! I've been listening to this song for over 50 years and it can still do the same thing to me. THAT is the power of the Beatles. That is the power of music.
This song reminds me of my mother who introduced me to the Beatles when I was a young boy. This was the very first song I heard. Rest in Peace, Momma.
Paul was inspired to write this song when his deceased mother, Mary came to him in a dream when he was feeling despair and all she said to him was Let it Be. I love that story.
I'm 60 years old and this is the first album I every bought. I was 9 at the time and this song even affected me then. As the years have gone by there have been more and more people and things that help me relate to this song. I love the song and, yes, it makes me cry almost every time. Keep your grandmother in your heart and music like this will help keep her memory alive always.
Four young lads from Liverpool changed the world, forever. How does something like that happen? How can so much talent unite like that? In about 7 years, they even changed how a generation thought.
That those 4 kids found each other has to have been an intervention by the universe.
Feeling for you, James. I cry my way through this song, too. Never be afraid to show some love.
My father, God rest his soul was a Pastor and this was His favorite song to Play & Sing on his acustic guitar 🥰☮️✌️🕊️🙏
Thank you for sharing the picture of your grandmother all dressed up wearing a beautiful flower with that sweet expression on her face. Love is everything, family is everything. McCartney wrote this song about his mother, named Mary, who died when he was 14. I think we can all relate.
I am almost 38 years old and have listened to this song for as long as i can remember and it still gives me goose bumps and makes me cry to this day. One of the greatest songs ever written
Omg. Your grandma is so beautiful. And she has that face where you know you’re going to like. I’m so sorry for your loss
Piano, George's wonderful lead. As usual Ringo drums for the mood of the song. Lovely harmonies
My father passed away a year ago and I can still hear him playing this way too loud on his turntable. He speaks to me through this song. I appreciate the connection you have with this as well man.
Tears aren't a reason to be sorry or ashamed. Music that speaks to you and invokes an emotional reaction is a wonderful thing.
This was the first 45 I ever bought. I was 12, still my favorite band EVER!!
The Beatles still reaching out and touching souls.....thanks for a great reaction my friend.
Made me cry again with you.
I was moved not by the music but by the reaction. It really inspires me to see someone moved by something beautiful. There are so many people who have little appreciation of beauty.
The Beatles can touch your soul my friend. Listen to Yesterday, And I love her, A day in the life, here there and everywhere, in my life
Dang my heart fluttered and I got a lump in my throat when you showed your grandmothers picture up on the screen. That pulled at my heart strings. Thanks for sharing.✌🥺🥲💛
WORLD OF MANKIND !!! ...LET IT BE....LET IT BE......
TBH I've heard this song so many times in my life (born 1974) it kind of just became background to me. It was amazing watching you absorb it for the first time. It was almost like hearing it new myself. It's also the first time I heard it since my mother died, so yeah, it hits different 🙏
This is what I lived through in the 60s what a time for music and wouldn't miss it for the world.
Your Gramma is speaking to you thru this particular Beatles song,,,how amazing is it that you mentioned her in the beginning of this video and you felt her throughout the song. Extraordinary! What a beautiful gift for you, so special ❤
I just want to say I'm 54 years old and I was listening to the Beatles TODAY!!...CRYIN!... I remember spinning Hey Jude when I was 3 years old.
Watching this makes me miss her :(
My brother.... that’s exactly what music is for ✌🏻❤️ I’ve got at least 15 songs that immediately make me weep. Ty for an honest reaction
Embrace the soul touching talent of the pre-digital era... When musicians put their very purest emotion into their art. It'll enrich you in so many inexplicable ways. You can hear it in their voices.... There's no "auto-tune" back then...
This has always been one of my favorite Beatles songs! It's like a warm hug from mama💕 my mama was a 60s child and they Beatles are her favorite when she remarried she walked down the aisle to their song In this life 💕 great reaction!
I feel the same way, and I’m 60. It has so many things in it for me too. I may never be able to process all it brings up. Ain’t nothing wrong with it, “it’s just life”… Let it be… Peace…
