Absolutely! That'd be fantastic to see. We knew this was going to be bad, but we wanted to know just how bad. 😅 The 450MT is getting new, more suitable rubber as well speak and will be back for another attempt to see if it's any better. 👌🏻
Non adv rider here....why would you not have the TC off to start? Then you stalled and said, "no can't do without TC" which makes no sense to me as the point of no TC is so it doesn't kill the power. Honest question. Thanks.
Excellent catch! I belive Carl was flustered and was actually saying the opposite of what he meant, as I know for a fact he initially set off with tc on as an experiment. Again, good catch! You're the first to ask this. 😊
@@TheBadIdeaBros so do you believe the bike would have been able to complete the flats if tc was off? That was quite the task it looks like and the CF is catching my eye since I'd love to get into some off-road adventure riding. **disregard, just saw the video of him making it with new tires, nice work**
Haha, yes. The 2nd visit was entirely more successful! In all honesty, the 450MT is a lot of bike for the money! So far so good with the two that are in our group, so fingers crossed they will be great long-term bikes! Tha k you for taking the time to comment!
The lighter bikes usually get through without a massive battle, but that depends on how turned up it is on the day. 😅 This was mostly an experiment to see how bad it would be for the 450MT on stock tyres.
Yep, 100% stock tyres. Mostly to see how bad it would be and to give us the "before" footage. New tryes are going on the bike and we will return to film the "after" and see how much of a change there is.
The factory tyres onestly weren't helping. Massive central blocks and just couldn't hook up on the loose gravel. Birdlings is a very odd surface that's super unforgiving - but a great challenge. 😅
@@TheBadIdeaBros Yeah, it looks like pumice is it? No doubt different to sand, but I'm sure tyre flex would no doubt help. I'm on stock tyres on mine, and knocking the pressure down to 20 is night and day different. Definitely would no go near any mud, but I'm riding rocky Creek beds and gravelly hills that I normally do on my Sherco Enduro bike 🙂
It's actually layers of tiny river stones. Offers next to no traction and gets into chain and sprockets to cause issues. Great stuff. 👌🏻😅 The stock tyres are off the bike now and Carl has gone to Mitas XT+ so should be considerably more capable.
@@Danger_mouse Tyres were at 22psi. I don't feel any flex on them compared to what I am used to on my other tyres on my other bikes, and that stock tread is so shallow. Fine on normal gravel roads but yeah have now changed them for Mitas xt+ front and Golden Tyre GT823 rear.
It would be interesting to see a pro rider on the 450MT with the best possible tires for this and the right tire pressure.

@@TheBadIdeaBros Awesome!
Thank you for your support! ✌🏻
What kind of tires will old mate put on?
Would be keen on seeing a follow up video with some decent rubber & proper psi.
I'm pretty sure Carl will be going with the Mitas XT+ and there should be a follow-up video. If not on my channel, it'll be on his. (TranzAlperNZ)
@@TheBadIdeaBros ha, you mean transalpernz... remember the honda Transalp
Haha, my bad. 😅

Nothing like the guinea pig being the one on a new bike. A bit cruel, but he has to get it past the NEW state at some point. The sooner the better.
Absolutely! We've all been through it, and honestly, an adv bike is going down sooner or later. May as well get it over with. 😅
Used to live there You wont go anywhere the shingle is too soft let ur tyre pressures down to near on zero

stock tires ?
for sure

I can confirm this was done on stock tyres. We revisited Birdlings with new, more suitable tyres and you can tlsee that in tomorrow's episode. ✌🏻
Birdlings... the killer of anything that requires oil
Haha, yep. Pretty much! Always a good challenge though! 😅
Drop the air out, 30psi will never work in conditions like that.

I'm excited to see how these go. 😁
might have been better off on a ct90/125 postie bike. Lol. Too heavy for that kind of work.
Yeah, you're probably not wrong. But, we do like to try things and we aren't called The Good Idea Bros. 😅
