To me, every day has been the same for 8 years. No car, no rush in life, minimal consumption, energy saving even though I don't pay for electricity (it's covered by rent), and I ultimately don't feel like a human anymore. I can not relate to what "the people" says or how they appear in news, SoMe, or if I go outside. Governments fighting all over the world for the smallest, most pity reasons, and we are just supposed to sit by and watch.. This comment got a bit off-track, but I'm shaken to my core. Cutting trees and storing carbon as wood in buildings or furnuture is actually awesome; we just shouldn’t cut more than what grows. Deforestation is mostly done illegally in countries where the legal framework or its enforcement is weak. Rather than planting trees, we could fix the latter issue. But there are no economic interests in doing so...
Not all petroleum products are burnt in the form of fuel. Some petroleum is used to make nylon ropes, climbing harnesses, nylon bags, nylon and polyester clothing, parts of your sneakers, the plastic housing on your camera, the plastic selfie stick holding your plastic camera, tents, backpacks, etc

If we are serious about the climate crisis then dealing with our energy needs should be our top priority. As far as I can tell, a new energy network will have to rely on a large grid powered by big solar farms, wind farms, dams and so on (to be efficient). Anyone who talks about changing society to be more equitable sounds like they aren't taking the problem seriously. Unless sustainable solutions become so miniaturized and cost effective that everyone can easily afford them to provide for their own power needs (and thus equity is easily achieved), then we are looking at a system that will seemingly be best served by bigger institutions like corporations or governments (for better or for worse).
The government has really nothing to say if regarding business. But everthing that has set open like building: Solar farms Wind farms And dams Will be used regarding the benefits of the company's in question. But maby someday the government says, lets don't make junk for one time use, for the private. // But the big problem with solar/wind farms and dams. Is that: Solar farms gives un vegetable gounds for nearly 30 years, Wind farms kills allot of bird species and creates extra obstacles for flight/sea, Dams gives a lot of ecological disorder with openning and closing the valves.

In my opinion, we can't deal with climate change under capitalism. Capitalism naturally forces the kind of cut-throat competitiveness that makes it neccisary to use any advantage, however environmentally damaging, to survive.
Capitalism doesn't get in the way of *survival*. It's hard to make a profit when you're dead. People just need to realize that the consequences will be catastrophic on that level for a good portion of the world.

There needs to be more of a most practical approach to solving challenges, and when i see china producing electric vehicles that are as low as 1000 dollars new, it becomes understood that the material costs are not that expensive, and for slightly more cost they can be designed to really last and not generate landfill, and can be designed with multi platform adaptability built in. Right now, electric vehicle manufacturers seem to expect people that need vehicles to somehow want to pay 1000 dollars for a new fender that really is only about 10 dollars worth of materials, and that is why people are remaining using their fossil fuel burners to get around, less during a pandemic though still trying to be stuck in traffic to try to raised funds to pay govts so they wont get arrested for loitering after being kicked to the curb for not being able to afford to pay rent or land taxes even. A few big problems, most electric cars aren't: fast enough in charging, light enough, having enough range, cleanly produced, cleanly powered by green energy, cheap.
As someone who lives in Phoenix AZ I had really only considered the loss of habitable land as it relates to rising sea levels. This series really made me pause and consider the prospect of a summer that is even 7°F hotter on average, sitting at 114 today is miserable but 121 would be insane. Not even accounting for the fact that the average also accounts for some places experiencing lower low temps.

tbh I think nuclear power is the future, not solar and wind as there’s no where to store all the energy as wind energy isn’t very consistent. With nuclear and non renewable sources it’s a consistent energy flow. It’s what makes your light bulbs not go dimmer when there’s no wind!
The problem is we still rely on oil and we will for a while before we either run out or renewables or a replacement. Do you honestly think we can make solar cargo ships? Trains can be but America isn't set up to begin this. It would cost too much.

We need to use more nuclear power energy. It's clean and the most efficient. Renewable energy can't stand alone
