Been there twice with Samaritans Purse and its unbelievable. If you have 3 days to 2 weeks - Samaritans Purse is still accepting volunteers. They are very organized, but its heavy lifting. The work includes removing downed trees, removing mud, helping to rebuild damaged homes, and more. Hard work but very rewarding, and I felt like the organization was doing very good work - they provide a comprehensive orientation, necessary equipment and safety supplies. It is faith-based.
In other areas local churches, individual volunteers, and Samaritans Purse are all working together making a big difference. Its wonderful the love and help being shown❣ However, the number of people affected is so large there are still many who need help as described in this video.

Thank you for bringing attention to this. We had historical flooding early summer in my hometown. Everything he is saying hits home. 80% of our homes were damaged. Not just a little water, that many people would think but literally collapsed foundations making homes unsafe to be entered for cleanup. It’s surreal to see your fellow neighbors living in a shelter and making sure people have access to food and what we consider simple things like a shower or clean clothes. It’s hard to say our town was lucky but after seeing this we were. Regular citizens got out their fishing/hunting boats and rescued people stranded on the rooftops of their homes. We helped each other and slowly things are being built back better. Do not ever count on the government or programs like FEMA to help you. We helped each other as best as we could. Samaritans Purse is an amazing organization and our town was blessed to have them here most of the summer. Thank you to all those who are stepping up to help if they can physically or financially

My home was completely washed away-all except a few cinder blocks. The pain my neighbors are suffering is unimaginable. Living on the side of a river, I did have a minimal amount of flood insurance, but unless people lived on a river, they did not. Only the goodness of the American people such as your friend is keeping people alive, literally.

I live in Asheville, NC. There was a lot of attention the first couple of weeks, but then the media moved onto other stories. I didn't lose my home, but it's been very difficult for all of us. There is nobody living here who wasn't affected in some way. We just got potable water back last week, after 51 days without! I just want to say thank you so much for using your platform to bring awareness. You have a kind, empathetic heart, and it means a lot.
I was born at Mission Hospital and lived in Malvern Hills, then moved to OakForest (Skyland). Now I live 75 miles further west and am just aching to see how our old houses and neighborhoods fared. At the same time, I don't want to know.

There are people living in tents in the freezing temps. Churches are sending in buddy heaters to try to help. The US Government response is dismal. Thank God for the people who are helping.

My daughter and her family are with a church group, as we speak, trying to help the people in NC and spent Thanksgiving serving meals to them. I’m proud of her and of anyone who is there and willing to help. My daughter came from Maryland to do this. God bless the people who are helping their fellow Americans.

I lost everything from New Orleans. Katrina destroyed everything I owe and I could not get on my property for a soild year. I have been there and lived through what they are going through. It is just overwhelming. And our property sat under water for 2 months. It is just so overwhelming. If it wasn’t for the generosity of my family and friends I would not have made it.
So sorry for what you went through. I knew that Hurricane Katrina was bad, but I didn’t realize how bad things were ! Hurricane Helene really opened my eyes . Thank you for doing this video. I’ve been down there with supplies and my daughter is a nurse at Mission Hospital. NO!!! The Federal Government, FEMA, The National Guard, Red Cross (a corrupt organization anyway) did NOT have the presence there that should have been. All that was done by these organizations was to make an appearance, get the media to film and air a little footage, and then for the most part, NOTHING!!! This disaster has truly proven that the most dependable and effective help is always going to be good people helping good neighbors.
A retired nurse from our church is a volunteer for the Red Cross. She was there with the Red Cross working. She brought back horror stories, her own pics and video and brought awareness to us encouraging us to join up with the Red Cross to help. I still didn’t comprehend the depth of this destruction. I’m injured in my foot and can not walk so I can’t go but will support Samaritan’s Purse in order to go help. I have more confidence in them than the Red Cross.

I live just right outside of Asheville in a small town that is pretty much wiped away. It still pretty much looks as it did the day after the storm. I’m beyond blessed that I didn’t experience mudslides, just a tree that fell on my home and vehicle. Also a lot of downed trees in my yard. It’s hard to know I still have my home when so many in my community are living in tents and campers in the cold. The outpouring of love through volunteers has been unbelievably amazing. I pray they will continue as long as they can to help because this will take years to recover from. Their love and support give us so much hope.
I'll be praying for your safety. I was a trucker, and stayed overnight at the TA in Candler, NC in late July. I can't imagine the devastation in that area now. :-(
It’s unbelievable that the homes that the Amish came and built for these families in need are just sitting empty because supposedly the homes are not safe and no one is allowed to move into them!!! And also all the RV’s that were donated, the same situation, they just sit empty, all the while these people are suffering tremendously. We heard of an 18 month old baby down there, that DIED from hypothermia!!! This is SOOOO inhumane and unacceptable!!! I volunteered at Newport as a massage therapist for the workers at a church. I saw the independent tour helicopters come in to get fuel, cleaning supplies and unfortunately body bags for an area that no one, including FEMA, could get to. Been there twice with Samaritans Purse and its unbelievable. If you have 3 days to 2 weeks - Samaritans Purse is still accepting volunteers. They are very organized, but its heavy lifting. The work includes removing downed trees, removing mud, helping to rebuild damaged homes, and more. Hard work but very rewarding, and I felt like the organization was doing very good work - they provide a comprehensive orientation, necessary equipment and safety supplies. It is faith-based.
In other areas local churches, individual volunteers, and Samaritans Purse are all working together making a big difference. Its wonderful the love and help being shown❣ However, the number of people affected is so large there are still many who need help as described in this video.

Thank you for bringing attention to this. We had historical flooding early summer in my hometown. Everything he is saying hits home. 80% of our homes were damaged. Not just a little water, that many people would think but literally collapsed foundations making homes unsafe to be entered for cleanup. It’s surreal to see your fellow neighbors living in a shelter and making sure people have access to food and what we consider simple things like a shower or clean clothes. It’s hard to say our town was lucky but after seeing this we were. Regular citizens got out their fishing/hunting boats and rescued people stranded on the rooftops of their homes. We helped each other and slowly things are being built back better. Do not ever count on the government or programs like FEMA to help you. We helped each other as best as we could. Samaritans Purse is an amazing organization and our town was blessed to have them here most of the summer. Thank you to all those who are stepping up to help if they can physically or financially

My home was completely washed away-all except a few cinder blocks. The pain my neighbors are suffering is unimaginable. Living on the side of a river, I did have a minimal amount of flood insurance, but unless people lived on a river, they did not. Only the goodness of the American people such as your friend is keeping people alive, literally.

I live in Asheville, NC. There was a lot of attention the first couple of weeks, but then the media moved onto other stories. I didn't lose my home, but it's been very difficult for all of us. There is nobody living here who wasn't affected in some way. We just got potable water back last week, after 51 days without!

Thank you for doing this video. I’ve been down there with supplies and my daughter is a nurse at Mission Hospital. NO!!! The Federal Government, FEMA, The National Guard, Red Cross (a corrupt organization anyway) did NOT have the presence there that should have been. All that was done by these organizations was to make an appearance, get the media to film and air a little footage, and then for the most part, NOTHING!!! This disaster has truly proven that the most dependable and effective help is always going to be good people helping good neighbors.

A retired nurse from our church is a volunteer for the Red Cross. She was there with the Red Cross working. She brought back horror stories, her own pics and video and brought awareness to us encouraging us to join up with the Red Cross to help.
I still didn’t comprehend the depth of this destruction.

I live just right outside of Asheville in a small town that is pretty much wiped away. It still pretty much looks as it did the day after the storm. I’m beyond blessed that I didn’t experience mudslides, just a tree that fell on my home and vehicle. Also a lot of downed trees in my yard. It’s hard to know I still have my home when so many in my community are living in tents and campers in the cold. The outpouring of love through volunteers has been unbelievably amazing. I pray they will continue as long as they can to help because this will take years to recover from. Their love and support give us so much hope.
I'll be praying for your safety. I was a trucker, and stayed overnight at the TA in Candler, NC in late July. I can't imagine the devastation in that area now. :-(

It’s unbelievable that the homes that the Amish came and built for these families in need are just sitting empty because supposedly the homes are not safe and no one is allowed to move into them!!! And also all the RV’s that were donated, the same situation, they just sit empty, all the while these people are suffering tremendously. We heard of an 18 month old baby down there, that DIED from hypothermia!!! This is SOOOO inhumane and unacceptable!!! It HAS to be stopped and whoever is responsible needs to be held accountable and charged accordingly!!🙏🏼

Sadly, it's not unbelievable. It seems to be that "they" want people to focus on whatever "they" want them to focus on; so, when they want the masses' attention on something else, "they" patently ignore what "they" don't want the masses' focused on.
That is not news. If a water plant is destroyed by floods, that takes years to rebuild. Some areas won''t have water and sewer for a long time. This is normal for this kind of disaster. Truth is that many of these areas should not be rebuilt. Sorry but that is the facts.

Thank you for doing this show! I am in the Newport TN area and we didn't see even one FEMA person and no military. If it were not for good people across our country, we would not have even been able to get a bottle of water!
I volunteered at Newport as a massage therapist for the workers at a church. I saw the independent tour helicopters come in to get fuel, cleaning supplies and unfortunately body bags for an area that no one, including FEMA, could get to. It broke my heart but also made me proud of my fellow Americans. “We take care of our own” was the quote of the day. And I witnessed that. God bless you all.
