The "energy" sparks are their aura taking the brunt of the hits. They've always had it, it's just more flashy with the new animation. Everyone's is a different color, but I'll let you spot them for yourself :)
When Tyrian kicked Ruby in the stomach, that red sparkle wave was Ruby's Aura breaking, which is why she wasn't moving but was vulnerable on the ground waiting for Tyrian to strike. And Ruby designed and built Crescent Rose while she was attending Signal, she was inspired by Qrow's weapon.
Tyrian is the scorpion from the scorpion and the frog. The one that asks a frog to carry it on its back and then poisons him anyways, responding "it's because it's my nature" when they both start to drown. They never say it in the show, so I feel comfortable saying it here. Tyrian's semblance is that he can essentially break holes in someone's aura temporarily.
Tyrian is supposed to be based on the scorpion from Æsop's fable "The Scorpion And The Frog," but the more he opens his mouth, the more he gives the impression of being based on Emily Dickinson's poem "Much Madness Is Divinest Sense."
Reggie, my brother!! Good to see you after this long week, so far. 😅✊🏿 Hope you're doing good. You're taking in everything and all things being said offscenes is paying off very well. Great to see this, bro. I'll have to point out one thing you saw during the fight with Tyrian. You may have seen that before but didn't notice it..... The kick that Ruby took?!? That flash was an Aura Break!! When a character's aura breaks, their fully vulnerable. It's basically a 'shields down' situation. So, Qrow's entrance was not just timely....it was game saving here!! Like when he showed up in time when Yang wondered off, remember?!? Her story back in Volume 2... Yeah, he's been watching over them both. You're right, he is Him. Meanwhile, Weiss did have a right to get ticked. She handled Henry Marigold well, but not so well from there....lol Give kudos to Gen. Ironwood. I would have been a lil' late in stepping in there. 😏 Just saying.... Well, we will see what will happen from here soon, I hope. Til then, keep being cool and STAY GOLDEN, FOLKS!! 🫡🌹❄️🖤🔥
Yeah after the switch to this engine the aura breaks are a lot more obvious and apparent. Which is a good detail for the viewers cuz honestly in the first couple volumes it can feel a bit silly what they survive and you don't yet understand aura fully. Once you understand what that indication means though... it makes you want to pay attention to whos aura breaks easier than others. In particular I like to tell people to pay attention to Jaune because Pyrrha quoted in character "You have a lot of it", inspiring the idea that he is sort of a tank. I bet it'd be hard for even big fans of the series to name every time Jaune's aura has broke... I don't think even I could do that.
Man, so sad you had to mute the Weiss singing part. I know why and am not mad about it, I just always anticipate hearing it, lol. It's one of if not my favorite songs in the entire show. Cannot wait for you to hear the full version on the OST. Also, that "energy" you saw when Tyrion hit Ruby during the fight was her Aura taking a big hit. They were still experimenting on how to make Aura big hits and Aura breaks look so it will change a bit over the Volumes. Tyrion's Semblance is never fully explained in the show and it's hard to catch what it is. I think it's shown in this chapter but it's also shown in next chapter. If you don't see it and want me to tell you next Chapter just let me know.
@@ReggieWolf Just hope you can do the soundtrack reaction at the end. That Weiss song is one of my top 5 songs of the entire series. And thats saying something cuz almost every song on the RWBY soundtracks are bangers.
18:25 Before you give Ironwood too much credit, keep in mind that the woman was shit-talking about Vale's security during the Vytal festival. Who was in charge of security during the Vytal festival? So really, whom were they indirectly shit-talking right in front of his face? And then they expect him to arrest anyone?
On the other hand Ironwood is right, Weiss is the only other person in that room that can say anything about how things played out at Vale. He and Her are the only people who were *actually there*.
I loved the double take when Reggie realized he missed something with his pause. Im not sure he fully processed the implications of Ren's statement though. He will soon enough though!
27:57 Not sure if this is considered a spoiler because the show never specifically mentions it, but it's in the wiki: You more or less just made an accurate guess about his semblance. Not quite, but if you factor in your hand gestures, I'd say you got close enough.
One fight that we will probably never see, but wish we could see, based on how easily both outclass the good guys: Tyrian vs Neo. Again, it's probably never going to happen, but it would be at least an hour before either would land an actual hit on the other.
I mean to this date Neo's "Getting hit record" is incredibly low. Which is really saying something when you consider what we "up-to-date" folks have seen in the series.
I mean people are both right and wrong. There is less action in v4 but many of the fights are the better ones. The main issue is people seem to have this merged memory between v4 and v5 because v5 has more fights but alot of them are bad (especially the "last arc" of it). That being said one of the best fights in the series is also in v5 so... really just people like to bitch about these two volumes and while I won't act like it's all unfounded - most of it is just people being overly judgemental.
@@undeathghost5627 i agree with all of this but i also think theres an added aspect to it where people who watched it come out week to week after waiting through the hiatuses feel like they had to wait longer for things than people who are binge watching it are going to feel if that makes sense
@@LITMasonEdits yeah that's definitely true. I will admit I'm newer to the series. My buddy got me into it when v9 was actively releasing episodes so by the time I got to v9 it was fully released. (It was so hard to avoid v9 clips spoiling shit back then)
So basically Oniyuri was supposed to be a thriving city run by and for the wealthy elite of Anima. Ren put it best when he compared it as Mistral's version of Mountain Gkenn. There was a slight error in the way Ren referred to the Grimm that destroyed Oniyuri as "Not just any, One." As in a single, powerful Grimm you haven't seen yet. It's a bit difficult to pick up due to the way the line is read. Jacques Schnee is the type of bougie asshole who believes "children should be seen and not heard". You've now met the douchelord Henry Marigold. You won't be seeing much more of him, but another character you'll meet later is tied to him in a way. He's just a loser. Basically everyone at the party is supposed to be representative of the upper-class snobbery that permeates downtown Atlas. And there is certainly a lot of it. Ren is more in touch with his Aura than his peers, explaining why he was able to sense tyrian coming from so far away. It's a common fan theory that Tyrian can do the same, making them somewhat evenly matched. The basic idea is that scorpions are mostly blind, and they're adept at sensing vibrations. Basically, the theory posits that Tyrian sees via hearing the metallic hum of people's weapons and through sensing their Aura. Tyrian didn't damage Crescent Rose, he landed a shot directly on Ruby herself. That red flash you saw was the new animation engine's design of Aura. It's a different color for every individual character, but this flash is how the series will depict and visualize Aura from here on out. In a similar vein, there's a specific effect for the moment someone's Aura is broken, thus indicating they're vulnerable to any damage and are in a state where they can be killed.
Henry alludes to the Prince Charming from the Snow white story. The Prince's real name varies in different iterations from Henry to Florian, the latter which means yellow/blooming flower, like a Marigold (a flower).
Hope all is well with you brotha Reggie. I am glad you are checking out the series. So many just stop before all the good stuff and it kinda feels like having a homie that loves the series as much as I do. Always appreciated you. Plus the Crow fight in this is my favorite of all time. Maybe got better in the future but this stood out to me the most. Just insanely good as you will see
The amount of action this volume is quite fine you'll see through the rest of your watch. What happened is that since the story is more focused and the characters are spaced out, obviously there won't be as much confrontations as the previous V3, whose tournament arc allowed for a fight every single episode. But V4 is literally the same quantity as V1 and V2. The action so far has been stellar. RNJR vs Geist was an awesome opener. Blake & Sun vs Sea Dragon was an atmospheric spectacle, and as you will see, this confrontation with Tyrian is super hype. Plus we still got some thrilling moments like Yang's nightmare and Weiss's crashout summon.

I think it might just be a situation of what his semblance is, he may have an extra factor he may be able to "sense" aura and as we've been told he has a lot of it. At least that's how I read it as we don't know.
