    Recommend annealing the brass key blank first. Makes the pin marks easier to develop.

    Very good talk, but if you're 'super interested' in impressioning search for knifing. I file the edge of the blank that will recieve the marks to a knife edge, making it so much easier to leave marks.

    Your great video and $2.49 for a blank key, (high price from Ace Hardware) and I have successfully impressioned my file cabinet lock. I now have a working key, THANK YOU!

    In 1965 Mercedes started using the KESO (dimpe key) type locks as standard on 600 and S class (up to 1967), and was optional for all other models. BMW also added this KESO option sometime in the 1970's on select models. On Mercedes models the trunk, ignition, and door locks all had pins at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock position. Only the glove box had pins at the 12 and 3 o'clock position. So not all KESO type locks have pins only in two locations.
    If you want a challenge, find and procure an Eagle brand lock that uses the EA-1 keyway profile. You can't even get the picks in! haha

    Jose: If you want to speed up the time need to impression a simple edge pin tumbler locks. You will need a 4-inch Pippen file, 800 to 1000 grit sandpaper, a black tip marker pen, and a good set of deep and space keys. You also need to check the D&S set to .0005 of an inch. sand the key smooth, Coat the key edge with the black marker, then Insert all S&D keys in the lock. Turn the keys back and forth. Look for where the keys didn't mark. Use Liski hand cutter to cut the deep using the S&D keys, then use a Pippen file and key micrometer to check your cuts.

    Great presentation; but I had to chuckle @ 7:05 when the key pins defied gravity and floated back up after their driver pins were set.

    Could t say for sure but I would think having a buffing wheel close by would make impression filing much easier.. the point being (at least on brass and soft alloy blanks) buffing the filing surface, even if quickly done would greatly aid in being able to spot the witness marks... At least I think it would help a novice as myself and also lacking youthful eyesight. What would your thoughts be?
    My thoughts hinge from the video where “Lock picking lawyer” admits even with his “super human” lock picking skills impressioning is something that visually takes a while to master. Even he has trouble seeing witness marks and without visual tools he wouldn’t have much success..
    Edit: so he says a shining surface will make the light reflect and blind you from seeing witness marks... What about using light filters on your cell phone camera? He speaks of the light boxes which allow you to see in several different light spectrums... The camera phone filters allow that as well as contrast, brightness, white point, contrast info-red and many others. Black lights??

    39:52 The photo on the left shows a chain with a zip tie and a Master padlock. So, by theory, you want to cut the weakest link to get in.
    Bye bye, Master lock.

    Why do Europeans do everything upside down ??? Pins belong on the top not the bottom were gravity can easily collect dirt and water into the workings of the lock.

    • @PlasmaHH
      @PlasmaHH 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We keep everything clean, including our locks. Weardown of a key is much more an issue than dirt.

    • @pjdambra
      @pjdambra 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dennis Lubert .. I didn’t know gravity don’t exist in Europe.?

    • @Tommy-yz2ng
      @Tommy-yz2ng 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@pjdambra It goes back to the old warded locks where the flag points down because gravity. This method kind of stuck when the pin tumbler locks came to EU. The EU keyway is generally a lot smaller, small enough that water/dirt/dust is probably the least of your problems. And with all the locks i had in use throughout my life, none of them ever got even a tiny drop of water in it nor did they malfunction due to dirt. I gutted the front door lock when i bought a new and it was pretty clean for how long its been there. And Dennis is right, key weardown is a bigger issue here
