  • Taking the best technical components from the 765LT, McLaren has created a V8-engined supercar that can be considered not only one of the best of its time, but the best of all time. Jethro Bovingdon gets behind the wheel on the road and track.

A lot of it must go missing on the way through a microphone and my earbuds, because since the 570S they've all sounded a bit weedy to me (guess I'll need someone to drive me around in one for real!). Their original sound (12C, P1) was more complex and characterful.

    • @teabagtowers3823

Because batteries add weight and complexity that and the 296 realistically isn't any faster than this or the 765LT despite having what another 100hp on tap. At 1.5 tonnes compared to the 750s 1.3 tonnes and 765lts 1.2 tonnes the 296GTB is a bit of a fatty in comparison.

Don't see them as "rivals"personally. Completely different tech. Rather than creating a "new" car, McClaren have raided their parts bin - and to me - have created a 720s Tecnica. Not saying the 750 isn't a great car, it clearly is. It's like Ferrari bringing out a 296 based on an F8 which uses parts from the SF90? Anyway, Jethro is a legend 👍

Have to admit the car still looks good but overall it's pretty disappointing especially after the 765LT. I was expecting Mclaren to follow that design path. l just don't like the front or rear bumpers of the 750s and I REALLY don't like the overall look of the rear end. It looks like a step back to me. If the 750s design came first and the 720s design was this years new car I would say the refresh looks good. I still like the car but it's not making any dream car lists. The second I saw the "new" center infotainment screen and buttons to the left of it I thought "that looks like a Palm Pilot or Handspring pda from the 90s" .. Honestly looks TERRIBLE and cheap. Was there a sale on elevator buttons? The bezzeled knobs from the 720 and 765 looked really good. All the buttons are gone below the screen as well that gave it a bit more of a technical look.
Simplicity can look good but I think the missed the mark and went into it looks dated already territory with those changes.
I DO like the dash and the side pod toggles. That looks fantastic!!
Awesome video. Just wish the car went another direction. Looks wise best to worst it's 765-720-ARTURA-750-GT

      agree 720>750 (looks wise).
Also agree 765 looks better than both - it's an LT after all so those expensive body kit changes better be good!
Artura and GT(S) bit more difficult to compare. Both fit their brief brilliantly methinks.
Especially the GT. Those clean and extended lines absolutely ooze luxury and sophistication. Its less of an outright nutty performance look but it's not meant to be.

    • @lknanml
      @lknanml 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@hyena8385 The GT is nice but I of all the GT options it's the worst. They forced the GT design on a platform that was clearly not for a GT. Also not crazy about the side vents. At first I hated the 720 as it seemed boring but after awhile I saw what they were going for and it's a beautiful look and I REALLY like it now. Funny thing is I would have probably loved the GT had that come before the 720.... LOL
Love the rear of the GT. I like the interior and that's about it. Couldn't see picking it over any other car in the GT class.
The Artura has gone with the flat rear deck look which to me looks cheap. Not a spyder fan and it follows that look so that probably doesn't help although it looks like the entire industry is going with the flat rear deck or open deck. The lambo Technica would look amazing with the EVO rear glass but the current trend is going open deck.
For me it means waiting a generation for the next design. It's lighter sure and probably just dumps heat like a champ but I just like the lines of a coupe like rear glass.
The 765lt is still on the dream list.
The electric age is here and those designs look amazing.

obviously not mclaren and ferrari aren't on the same level of desirability despite the performance and enzo spinning in his grave since 2013

What a joke, not even the 765 is match for the 296 , this unreliable mclanch is far behind! And the 296 is already ending the production, next year the 296 "pista" version is out

Your comments are always such a mess lol. You know nothing. Firstly, the 296 just came out. Secondly, The 296 and sf90 are notorious for hybrid system failures especially earlier production models. Even on a carwow race a 296 had a failure every acceleration lol. And still the 765 is posting quicker times in rolling acceleration.

@@coolguy_2997The 296 GTB is a 2.5 years old car, unveiled in June 2021. Also, the order books for the GTB variant closed around May this year. Looks like you know nothing about the 296! Also, that was one or two cars that had some issues, even the so called and perceived reliable car 911 had break down! The 296 is arguably the best driver's car at the moment.

296 is way better in my opinion. It looks much better, it sounds much better it, it has its own unique engine not one thats shared with literraly every other model, and its faster.

They are really in split hair territory with the performance and there's a lot of brand loyalty in the realm of these cars. If not brand loyalty, it will come down to personal preference between the two.

I am italian and i think this is better. Way lighter, way better chassis, it’s a carbon fiber one against steel and alloy

What steel? I think there isn't any steel in modern Ferrari's: fact check!

The fastest rolling acceleration of a 296gtb 100-200 kmh I saw was 4.25sec, the fastest for a stock 765lt was 4.0sec. So this 750s probably has the same real power figures, similar weight, gear ratios - so it will as quick as a 296gtb if not quicker. Regarding a drag strip the stock 765 did 9.3 s 1/4 and Ive never seen a 296 did faster than 9.7 sec. And yeah, just add downpipes and ecu flash, even the 720s starts pulling 3.5sec 100-200.

Well, I'll be honest with you. I am a Ferrari fan. But I prefer the way McLaren build supercars. To, me, the driving dynamics of most McLaren supercars are better.

McLaren share with Ferrari (and Lamborghini...and...[insert other brands here] but not Porsche...) the same disease: Paddlegitis... but McLaren gets beaten by Ferrari in the aesthetics as there is no Russian Doll Syndrome at Maranello....for this much money I suppose prospective owners would like to end up with something that looks substantially different (and better looking) than a 720S... even Porsche with its infamous 911 does a lot better than this...shame.
