    I love opening the moonroof and the back window when I drive in town. It makes the perfect airflow!

    The lack of seat cooler was almost a deal breaker when I traded my platinum in on my TRD pro. I miss the seat cooler. I live in South Texas. I used the seat heater once to keep a pizza warm taking it home.

    I could be wrong, but I think the ventilated seats actually pull air through instead of push air up through the seats. I like them. I also like the folding mirrors and use them a lot. I, too, however, don't use the moon-roof enough to care about it. I would give up that moon-roof for factory rear under-seat storage in a heartbeat.

    As a smoker and someone who needs airflow, I use the moonroof everyday (even cracked), I also do not like chrome, so with the platinum trim you don’t have the chrome.

    Hey Tundra Dude, Wes here. I have 2014 Limited, and the one main feature that you have in the platinum that I wish I had was the "Memory Seats" . I do love having the electric seat, but I have to manually move seat back to get out.

    Bought my 2019 Tundra Platinum in late October last year, saved a good chunk of money on it since they already had 2020s out by then. I use the power fold mirrors a good amount when parking on the road or in tight spots. The only bad thing about them is that I live in Canada and when we get a snowstorm they freeze shut sometimes. I’m also a big fan of the sunroof and rear window. I can see myself using them a lot more in the summer, especially the rear window for backing up trailers or launching my boat.

  • @rfguy8499
    @rfguy8499 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Totally agree with you on the moonroof. It seems to always come standard on the higher trim levels with Toyota, so I have had them on a few vehicles now. I seldom, seldom use it. However, I love my heated/cooled seats and the cooled seats is a must in my hot desert climate. For me, the folding side mirrors is a must and I couldn't fit in my garage without them.

  • @grainandshadow5736
    @grainandshadow5736 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use the folding mirrors everyday so that I can fit the Tundra in the garage. The cooled seats keep my back from sweating as I love having the windows down in the summer. And the sunroof is opened several times a week. 😃

    Mark, I have to point out a couple more things that make those platinum mirrors even better than just the auto folding aspect. One, is they also have auto dimming built into them, very nice feature! And also, they have the larger blinking arrows in them, which I find great to have especially for lane changes during freeway use. These blinking lights catch my attention all the time with other trucks that have them. These features are why I’m going to try like hell to figure out how to retrofit them into my 2018 Limited Tundra. There has to be a way! Thx

    I 100% agree that the moon roof allows too much heat in when the shade is open. However, you don’t use the cooled seat?!! On a hot summer day, sitting on any leather seats, you will get a case of swamp butt. I think you should just come out and say you dont mind having swamp ass lol

  • @SuperSnakePlissken
    @SuperSnakePlissken 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    One of my favorite features on my 2021 TRD Pro double cab is it does NOT have a moon roof. Here in Texas where I live it is always too damn hot to have it open, and once your vehicle gets around 15 years old that sun and heat has destroyed the rubber seals causing you to replace them at a very high price. My family Honda Odyssey required me to replace the seals since it is now 16 years old, and it cost me $1200 for Honda to take the roof apart, remove the rubber gaskets and seals, replace the headliner, and get the job done. It was leaking and I had no choice but to replace it.
    Moonroofs are a nightmare if you keep the vehicle long enough.

    I have a 2009 Limited and I have the JBL Sound system and power folding mirrors, heated but not cooled seats and moon roof. My guess is that they changed the packages around in subsequent model years a bit. I rarely use the moon roof but I use the heck out of the rear window roll down. That is just cool. They should never get rid of that.

    Wife just traded her 2019 Camry for a 2020 RAV4... smh. But we got a great deal and the awd is something that I appreciate for her safety. This has put my tundra purchase on hold a while longer. But I was one of the ones wanting the platinum especially because it had less chrome. But the limited has grasped my attention as of late and like you said it has just the features I need. I’m hoping the upcoming tundras have more of these luxury features trickle down to the lesser models in the near future.

    I know your not talking the exterior but I don't believe you can get chromeless front on the Limited which is another reason I purchased the 2021 Wind Chill Pearl Platinum. I did get paint protection film on the entire front of the truck and just enough on the hood, maybe the same amount of protection as the deflector would give you, work done by Chicago Auto Pros for $1500. I did the upgrade of the tailgate lock, Plug & Play, Tinted two front windows to match others from the factory and also did the windshield though it is illegal.The best music add on was an amplifier for $450 and now my audio system Kicks Ass! Enjoy your video's, have a great life!

    Don't forget get if you go Limited - you get chrome bumpers which will cost you to change. I prefer color matched and sensors. I find fold in mirrors on a large truck and proximity key are features that really useful...

    • @scottduplechain3476
      @scottduplechain3476 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also heated steering wheel is another feature Toyota should add - all of the competition has it...

  • @chadsgeorge

    The only reason why I got the platinum is because of the cooled seats. When it gets hot in the Carolinas it helps cool my down. And when driving on long trips, it keeps me cool.
    Not a fan of the moon roof because it has a damper that goes up and down at around 50mph.
    Like the folding mirrors when parking in tight spots and when washing the truck at the auto car wash.
    Put a new Kentwood radio in the truck. I helps the sound 100%. Great radio and sound now. Also put a camera on the front of the truck so I can see immediately in front of the truck or if turning right when I cant see a car stoped at a stop sign.

    Once you taste sugar, there is no going back. 2 out of the three almost daily. My wife likes the heated seat on the passenger side, I use both. It’s nice to have the option. Stalls are tight here, so the auto mirrors is a luxury I’m now categorizing as a need. And like you the moon roof was a must at purchase, but I don’t use it at all.

    Folding mirrors are good for automated car washes. I use my sun roof/ moon roof every day. 😂 Moon is to look out at the sky and sun roof to air out the truck. Everything I've driven in 20 years has to have the sun roof. 😂

    I am buying a Platinum level Tundra in April/2020 for exactly 2 of those 3 reasons. Power folding mirrors on tight 4x4 trails are a must. Also the monochromatic matching paint for the front and rear. I can't stand any chrome trim or bumpers on trucks, period. Oh I wish Toyota would offer the Platinum level package on the TRD Pro model. But that's why we have lots of off-road suspension specialist here in Colorado.

    Hello Tundra Dude. Great info. Thanks for all you do. I have a dilemma! I’m about to pull the trigger on a 2020 Tundra up here in Canada. It’s between the Trd off road premium or the Trd sport premium. This year there are no Limited up here in the great white north . The premium upgrade gives you leather & everything I guess the limited has but with the sr5 badging. What say you about these two choices ? Your right about the Platinum. There is about a $10,000 difference in price between the Platinum & the premium.

    We Just Bought a Used 2015 Platinum Crewmax To replace our 2010 limited Crew Max. The 2010 is a lot nicer and Easier for us old people to use. The 2010 leather Seats are much better feeling. The Rear Seats in the 2010 are 100x better with the adjustable fore and aft feature along with being able to put stuff under them. Maybe the 2015 will grow on us. but the 2010 was going to be sold and I'm thinking on keeping it as a spare or sell it to our kids.
    The 2010 also just feels bigger inside for some reason. We've been bouncing back and forth all day and something is just off with the 2015... Agree. We'll never use the folding feature in the mirrors, We'll never use most of the techy crap in the dash, We'll never use the cooling seats esp here in Northren Canada. The way the hood Opens is a pain also. We liked the all one pc on the 2010 for us older people. 2015 seems like a cheaper version some GM designer came in on.

    When I buy a truck, it must be 4x4. Yet, I use 4x4 once every 2 years. These things are just "better to have it, than not to have it." Also, the TRD off package ain't nothin in a Tundra. A skid plate, decals and some bilstein shocks that you can get at pep boys for a few hundred bucks. Funny how people see a TRD decal on the truck and are so amazed..

Hate the chrome handles and mirrors on both trims. Hope the new tundra has a darker headliner. Light grey is ugly and stains easy.

    Not to be a smart ass but if the air in your cab is conditioned than unless it’s pulling air from outside it’s blowing conditioned air through your seat.

    Mark your list is pretty normal. I think most people hardly use a lot of their vehicles features. My wife has a sunroof and she has literally never opened it in 3 years. I only drive 7000 miles a year so I'd rather save the money. I view my trucks as tools that look nice too. My bank account and my house mean more to me than power mirrors and cooled seats.

  • @louie4316
    @louie4316 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hardly use my sunroof on my 14 Limited. The wife gets a headache from the sun beating down on her head so I just got used to driving around with the shade closed, as far as power folding mirrors? I obviously don't have them on my truck but my wife's Audi has them..never used. Cooled seats? I would never buy a vehicle with all those holes in the leather to begin with.

      I went the "go hard or go home" route. My 2019 Platinum is my dream truck. I don't care about the moon roof, as it throws too much glare on the touch screen when it's open. The rest of the luxury features are great.

    Aesthetically, the exterior on the Platinum is better. I also cannot stand wood grain trim on the interior of the limited. It's all up to the owner I suppose. Once you are are in the 50's I don't really see where 3K makes much of a difference anymore.
