- This was a much anticipated review and so I hope it lived up to everyone's expectation!
In short, I think these are a great alternative option to the Jelly Gouache Cups on the market, and also if you can't get ahold of the Arteza Gouache Tubes!
For the way I use gouache, which is mostly in my studio on my desk, these are a great option. They say artist gouache, but I couldn't find any pigment info or lightfast info, so I'd say that they are safe for sketchbook work and work you plan to scan. Out of the "tubes" they are a wonderful consistency and have decent opacity - I'd compare that to DaVinci but not as good as Shinhan or Holbein.
The dried versions were very crumbly, which wasn't a big deal in my ceramic palette but would be a big deal if I tried to dry them down for on the go gouache painting. They didn't have trouble rewetting and worked pretty well with not much effort. I really wish there was a pink in this set and outlined the colors I'd like to see adjusted for this to be a perfect set of 12.
Overall, I really like these as a budget-friendly gouache option and would definitely consider them depending on your needs for gouache!

Thank you so much!
Soooo I double checked and yes, 155cc's does equal to about 15ml worth of paint!
Haha I come to that conclusion at some point too, thank you so much!!! I'm glad I got this set to try, for my gouache purposes it's a great budget set that won't be exposed to the air!
Cute paints! Although for me, I don't think the little jars are very practical. For whatever it's worth, I think the concern about cross contamination is overblown. With my Himi gouache, I dip my brush in all the tubs, and then when I'm done, I just give the tub a good stir, and the other paints just mix right in to the main color. The only ones I'm at all careful with are the white and lemon yellow. The reality is, most of us mix our colors anyway, and getting little dabs of other paint in the mix just helps neutralize everything. So if I did get this paint, I would not worry about cross contamination. But YMMV.
I can totally understand that point about the jars. They were less practical than I was hoping for as I was using them, but still better for me than my experience with Himi Jelly Gouache. And I do agree that cross contamination isn't too big of a deal for me personally but I do know some people don't want that and so I figured it was worth mentioning.
The Himi gouache got completely dry in some spots and molded in others for me. And before that, the consistency got very sticky, which made me less likely to paint with them overall. So they just didn't do it for me but I know a LOT of people do prefer them and I'm glad people are enjoying them! It's a great deal for paint! :-)
Thanks for always watching and for your thoughtful comments!!
@@artsykristy I've fortunately not had a problem with mold, and I don't mind reviving it when it dries out. But I get why people might not like to do it. For whatever reason, I've never really gotten into painting from tubes. I should force myself at some point, get a mixing set and just make myself use that for a month.
