Do custom battles and learn where your lead indicator is, and don’t fire until the enemy steadies up in your sights
Also set the guns targeting distance to none so you won’t have a dead spot in your aim

Everything you said about F-5C is correct. I got it at release and grinded almost the whole tree with it, while learning how to fly (by watching your videos).
I wasn't planning to spend any GJN this sale, but you are the one who raised my interest in AirRB (I am mostly ground RB player). Since you became official CC and got a decal, I decided to buy Israeli premiums, just to get you some support.
I have 2 questions 1. I’m also mainly ground and my average K/d in most planes is like .75 so is it worth getting if I’m below average at ARB and 2. Do you think it’s worth getting to grind the entire attacker tree starting from the A-20 and the fighter trees starting from the first Sabre, F80C, and the F7F.
Bought this thing on new year’s sellout, it’s a very fun to fly even though I am not really good at supersonic jets so far (flew f-104 maybe like 30 games and rank 5 trash only), but with this plane I really enjoy playing this br finally. im pretty bad at props but i got a 70% winrate in it and 5 kda so i think the la-5fn needs an uptier but no one plays it

@@skull1161 It doesn't need an uptier. It has too many serious weaknesses. It starts locking up at 350mph and is nearly completely locked up by 380mph. Thus it cant actually put that powerful engine to use in terms of utilizing a speed advantage, nor can it dive. This means that you can only really use it in a climb advantage. There is a big catch with that though. The La-5FN is only really good 2km and below. Go above 2.5km and the La-5FN becomes an average plane for the BR at best. Combined the very quick to kick in and very bad compression and the serious drop off in engine performance above 2.5km means that you can't really utilize climb or dive as an advantage in the La-5FN outside of a very limited scope. Even 3.0 109Es become a credible threat to the La-5FN above 3km. The La-5FN might be faster but the 109Es out turn it fairly convincingly and even out climb the La-5FN. 109Fs? You don't want to see them 3km+. 3km+ they are, near as makes no difference, as fast as the La-5FN, climb much better and have a comparable turn rate. If you run into a 109F 3km+ in the La-5FN and they go vertical you pretty much automatically have lost the fight unless they somehow throw it. Many players specialize in throwing though so who is to say what will actually happen. The La-5FN is a very capable plane for the BR but it comes with serious limitations that are fairly easy to leverage against it by capable players in capable aircraft.
Personally I would rather fly the Yak-9M. Its low altitude performance isn't as amazing but it has a more consistent performance profile up to 4km while being as fast in general but more agile and with better diving characteristics. Then again I will fully admit that I am impartial to the Yak line over the La line. I'd rather fly the Yak-9U over the La-7 at 4.7. That said I also think that the La-7 is one of the best 4.7s in the game, especially below 3km. I just prefer the more consistent overall performance profiles and the, in my opinion, better handling characteristics of the Yaks.

I literally went to a video from like a year ago to get your link, bought some ge and to my surprise I got the decal a couple hours before this video was posted lol
The map from the first match, [Operation] Hurtgen, is the map I used my ban on because the layout makes it too ridiculously small for top tier jets. The two airfields are 6 cells apart on a 9x9 map and both teams are radar locking each other immediately after takeoff at ~40km.
The f5 is just a legendary aircraft. It was made as a cheap alternative in the Vietnam war to the f4 for southern Vietnam. It had to be simple and maneuverable so it had low maintenance cost and was still dangerous to migs. Despite not having computers for hitting ground targets it used more conventional methods which later in competitions against f18’s proved to be more accurate in the perfect conditions. Not only this the f5 consumed less fuel and was made in such a way where its weapon systems could be compatible with new missiles and ordinance. Overall a beast of a plane that unfortunately didn’t see any real combat with the us and eventually was turned into an f20 tiger shark after multiple iterations.
I wouldn't say the AV-8B is limited. Sure if you weigh it down with bombs and force it to fight at low altitude it'll be relative easy pickings since most opponents can dive on it.
But if you take minimum fuel(plenty) and only AAMs it has one of the best climb rates and extremely good acceleration. On top of that the VIFFING(Vectoring In Forward Flight) allows some really interesting plays and you get an appreciable amount of countermeasures at the low BR and great missiles. Though the low ammo on the cannons kills your longevity.
One of the most effective things I found is that you can easily climb well above the altitudes most players would ever hope to go let alone look. Be it 8km or 10km then fly over the usual murderball to the back of the enemy team. Pick 2 targets at the back and prepare to dive.
After that crank the nozzles back to 100 to brake and roll your cockpit to the enemy. Not only will this prevent compression but it'll help you line up your shots much more easily and dive on the enemy like a bat out of hell. Usually scoring a reliable 1-2 kills. Pair this with a squad and you can easily erase most of the enemy team and net easy wins.
After that RTB periodically popping countermeasures. Try to avoid gunfights unless you have to since they will cost you your speed. Your missiles will be much more effective after a reversal or overshoot.
Nozzle Angles to remember:
30 for sustained turns
50 for hard turns(usually full turnarounds or tightening a yoyo)
90 for perfect hover
100 for braking(the nozzles point ever so slightly forward allowing it to act as a second airbrake. You can use this to land at the airbase faster.)
Dogfights are hard but you mostly want to use your ability to rapidly bleed off and gain speed along with your ability to suddenly tighten your turn circles to force your opponent into an awkward position. DO NOT HOVER and avoid low speed. You have poor control at low speed. At the very least in a 1v1 they will have a hard time getting a shot but there's a good chance you can reverse.
Avoid a head on at all costs. Your adens have a relatively low rate of fire on top of the pitiful ammo. Instead go nozzles 90, roll and pull a hard elevator and try to do a wide corkscrew. You'll be nearly impossible to hit.
If you play your cards right you can quite often get the upper hand even on F-5s and F-4s.
Don't expect to win a 1v2. They will bleed your energy dry and you will die.
Don't be afraid to flare. You have a lot of them.

F5C is the most fun thing to play in my playing experience near BR 10.0,very good mobility,very good aiming nearly shoot at where i aiming at,very good shell and damage always kill with only one shoot on enemy,very good energy holding,average 9e,normal speed rising.A perfect dogfighter near 10.0 ,and the F105D is my favorite Bomb near this br

You can take the 3 biggest bombs and destroy a base in some maps. Take a few bombs more and you can destroy a base on every map.
The Air to Air missiles suck, but you can take out some unsuspecting players with them.
Its a great plane that you can use for grinding to top tier if you know how to use it.

I bought this and MiG-21SPS-K during the sale. I am yet to fly the F5C as I have upcoming exams at the end of the month, but I played a couple of games with the MiG and I love it! If F5C is better than SPSK then it’s really gonna kick some ass
I bought the F-5C about a month ago, on steam and thinking it wasn't going to go on sale.
Despite that I have no regrets on spending that money. Being able to play something other than the F-104A and F-100D was amazing and not only did I grind through the F-4C and F-4E in no time, I actually made enough SL to buy both.

Love to see my Main getting some more love on the Channel. The Guns got worse sure but they still hit quite good, same with the AiM-9Es. The Flight model really makes this plane competitive, even in uptiers.

Anyway, may i suggest you to try out Ki-61-II? I think someone already suggested it in Ki-61-I ko video, but i'll do it again. Met a guy today in AirRB who managed to score 5 kills in a premium Ki-61-I hei, absolute mad lad just destroyed half of my team in a furball. Seeing that i couldn't help but shot him down and praise him in PM. He was surprised by my praise cos he expected to see a hacking accusation, but he thanked me anyway and advised me to try Ki-61-II myself.
In stock it is basically Ki-61-I tei without an airspawn, but i learned how to use the latter, so it isn't a big deal for now and i was warned by the same guy that you just need to make it top and then it shines.
So, try it out for a couple of games. Just for experience, not for videos.
The 4.3-4.7 Ki-61s are all 3.7BR aircraft at best and it really shows against 4.7 opposition. The only advantage they have is turn (if they even have that advantage a la virtually every Mk.V and Mk.IX Spit you will face is, at worst, slightly slower than you and just outperforms you in every other performance metric) and they cannot prop hang like a Zero. They don't handle as well as a Zero at slow speeds making slow speed shots more difficult. Sure, against a majority of the players that play this game that don't know much more than turn fight or run they will be goodish but the moment you run into someone with an inkling of understanding of aerial combat tactics you are completely screwed. To be honest you would be better served taking the J2M2 instead. The J2M2 fairly effortlessly outclimbs everything it will ever see at the current moment and it outturns virtually everything while having similar level flight speed performance to the Ki-61-II while being less concerned about engine thermals.
And i completely agree with everything you said, my friend! Well. exept the 3.7BR part, that's just way too low. 4.0-4.3 is my take, honestly.
I also found out that Ki-61-I tei stops heating completely on WEP after 4.9km for some reason.
I still wonna see DEFYN flying Ki-61-II though, i like when he rants about bad planes.
@@ignatusrailslayer The Ki-61 stops overheating because its engine is losing power due to altitude.
As for them being below 3.7 they are all worse flight performance wise than the 4x12.7mm Ki-61 Otsu that sits at 3.7 and the current 12.7s are as good as any 20mm guns at the moment because of the added frag effect. The performance difference isn't small either. The turn and climb difference that the Ki-61 Otsu has is actually noticeable in a side by side test. The Ki-61 Otsu gets to 6km around a minute faster than any of the 4.3-4.7BRed Ki-61s do for example. A very noticeable performance hit for what isn't a meaningful firepower upgrade in game and I just don't see them as actually being equal to, never mind better, than the Ki-61 Otsu at 3.7. That is why I think they should be no higher than 3.7. That said Gaijin will always want them to provide a sense of progression so they have to be after the Otsu by default.
Truth be told I think the Ki-61s are all at least slightly over BRed at the moment. I think the ko should be no higher than 3.0. It is, very basically, a discount 109E in that it is slower and climbs notably worse but turns better. The Otsu I think should be 3.3. Take the 109Es at 3.0 and trade some climb rate for a better turn rate and that is the Otsu in a nutshell. Truth be told I think it is a side step to the 3.0 109Es and not an upgrade so should be the same BR (with the ko ideally being 2.7) but given the player base loving to turn fight I think 3.0 and 3.3 is fine. The rest of the Ki-61 and Ki-100 family should all fill up the rest of the 3.3-4.0 bracket with the Ki-100s and Ki-61-II being at 4.0 and later two Ki-61s being either together at 3.7 or the tei at 3.3 and the hei at 3.7 if the ko and otsu go to 2.7 and 3.0. That is just my opinion though based upon their performance relative to opposition and where I think they would best fit as a result.
@@rainsilent Now i see your point, but honestly speaking - i think gaigin just doesn't care about early AirRB anymore that much. That's why we have Emils kinda low (Japanese one is a 2.7 joke iirc), early F4Us (2.7?!) and F4F-4 (3.0, of course, for a plane that is worse in flight performance than previous F4F-3 at 2.7), and all those A6M5s facing post war superprops. As far as i remember, all Ki-61s were overtiered after Mark 1 Otsu model. Seems like gaigin thinks AirRB is just AirAB with more rules, so the guns make the BR, eh?
Anyway, gotta try out Ki-61-II myself, it is still in mostly stock configuration. After than gotta check out Ki-100-I, last time a flew it a couple of years ago it was mostly an overheating brick.

@@ignatusrailslayer Gaijin passed the BR rankings off to the players some 2 years ago. Since then the players have been increasing the BRs of a lot of the better turning planes and head on planes up to ridiculous BRs.
F7Fs from 5.7 to 6.7 in like 3 months of Gaijin giving the players the control of the BR when they were the worst performing 5.7 twin was all because they clap in head ons despite otherwise being incapable of dealing with any single engine fighter that they faced. P-39N was being constantly asked to go to 2.7 since too because "It can't turn with Zeroes" but Gaijin blocked it until very recently. The Re.2005 is worse performance wise than the F.IX at 4.3 but it is being kept where it is based upon how good it was when introduced. Outside of the 'star' planes that get all of the attention the player base generally doesn't care enough to move anything reasonably and things get moved based upon what suggestions are more popular (which are mostly cope or skill issue related requests or demands) over what makes more sense.
As for guns making the BR? Sometimes yes it was that way in the past (hello 190A-8) but that wasn't the case with these. These things, along with the N1Ks, have what gets referred to as legacy BRs by some from when the Japanese tree didn't have a lot in it so a few aircraft were excused to be over BRed by Gaijin simply because Gaijin needed something to fill a higher BR bracket. With the tree more full there isn't a reason to shuffle things around in the Japanese tree to be where they should be in BR. Problem is that it would likely require a coordinated effort by a group of players to do at the moment.

I ground out to tier 5 in the American tech tree before I bought this jet, so I'm not like the brand new players that just buy a premium jet and then hope to do well. I'm not great, am lucky to get a kill in a game, but even with just one kill, it's enough to offset the cost of destruction by 2x's. The RP is insane. I'm blowing through research. Even one kill and surviving to the end is good for me. If you're like me, then you'll probably enjoy it. I look forward to getting off work to get into the grind again with this jet. It is a lot to get used to, even from tier 5. Blackouts are easy to do, and at least half of my games I'm just missile bait. That doesn't stop me from having fun though, because when I actually kill, it feels great. I look at it as progress. Don't mind the teammates who ridicule you for being bad. Just hop into the next one and practice more. That's all you can do. I have a hard time with cannons in realistic battles, as I've grown used to having a guide to shoot at, but I'm working on it.

I feel like they could rework mid map ground units. Remove the mid map aaa and some of the ground units, and reduce the sl and rp rewards somewhat but slash the amount of tickets they reduce. Then add strong aaa and more units that give more rp and sl + drain tickets faster somewhere off to the side so ground pounders can go to them
