I really appreciate this series for mixed doubles. I really enjoy to play mixed doubles and have much love for this discipline. Sadly many players don't get so deep into the communication, tactics of mixed doubles and think mixed doubles is lady all the way at the front, man always at the back. Thanks to Jenny and Greg for explaining the tactics behind this discipline. Kind regards from Germany. I only have love for this channel. ❤🧠🏸

🧠🧠🧠 Theres an old video series on youtube that i used to learn mixed doubles basics about 6 years ago. But in those videos, there wasnt any explanations at all. At some point, muscle memory and training will teach you all these basics. But there is a deeper "why" that you guys covered here. Thank you for your patience in teaching the "why" and not just the "how." btw im curious if you ask your opponents on the videos to hit you with bodyshots so the "wrong position/move" scenes are so disastrous that it drives the point all the way home haha. Well done guys 👍👍👍

Even in regular doubles I tend to become small and insecure when I go to the front, so I learned that having a big presence at the net is actually really important. Also, in singles I would sometimes try to go 100% with my smashes, but if they defended it, I wouldn't be there in time. Now I know that it's not worth it to go 100% when you're in a bad position because less power means better balance and quicker recovery/footwork. Appreciate the work you put in these videos! 🧠

🧠 great second part. Had indeed made the mistake of doing a hard return below the net and getting it right back (usually cross court). Now I know I shouldn't be doing that. At the moment we keep a more offensive position to keep the woman at the front, but as you say, this keeps our tramlines open for attack. At our level it's still manageable. Great to know what we need to focus on next. Thumbs up and big lolz with the stilts and your faces when you know you are doing the wrong things on purpose for the video.

please consider this as a brain emoji made of words. nice treatment of a topic with details rarely if ever seen on youtube before. like greg i also find the occasional punch clear to the girl is an effective variation in XD, and especially into the cross court corner. and, you didnt say this but you did demonstrate it, it is optimally effective only if you jump high for the shuttle (as greg did @3:38) just as you would for a smash or drop. when you jump as high as you can for it, a punch clear can be very startling to opponents who are 'dug in' expecting a smash or drop. it would be great if you also had similar videos on attack strategy and advanced rotation for straight doubles. thanks for all your hard work and the great instructionals

🧠 blown 😀 plus the actual lol at 4:59 and Jenny's turn to take one for the team at 3:45 to let us know what not to do. Wouldn't be surprised if you're one of the first to as people to suggest listening to the shot your partner is playing to determine positioning. I also found the last bit particularly helpful as was pushed to the back the other week and wondered if/when to come forward. Thank you again for an excellent video.
Also, the Taerattanachai/Puavaranukroh pair definitely seem to be worth a mention for the non traditional formation shots where she can hold her own, but Higashino at the back with her jump shots too must be a sight to behold from the net too.

Even level doubles pairs have a preferred formation where the more powerful player takes the back and the skillful net player takes the front - look at The Minions for example, or Fukushima/Hirota etc.

🧠 Another great video on mixed. Definitely going to try some open rallies where I shout out which shot I'm playing so my partner can get used to the sounds.
